Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 – [The Start IV, Rookie IV]

June 10th, 2025.

South Korea, Tongyeong – 3:12pm

The day was sunny, and the sky was clear. Out in the streets of the city, Hyun-Woo walked with energy as Jisoo walked by his side. Hyun-Woo wore a black shirt accompanied by gray sweatpants, white socks, and slippers. Jisoo wore a designer brand white shirt with the logo "Daon" on it. He wore black shorts and white sneakers. Hyun-Woo looked at Jisoo and asked, "Jisoo, is that shirt real?"

Jisoo looked back at Hyun-Woo, confused. "What do you mean real? Don't you see me wearing it?" Hyun-Woo smirked before placing his hand over his mouth like he was about to cough, and an obvious grin formed. "Jisoo, it's just that Daon is a luxury brand, isn't it?" Jisoo raised an eyebrow, "Yeah, obviously… bro, what are you trying to say?"

Although Hyun-Woo moved his hand from his mouth, a slight smile remained. "Nothing, forget it, Jisoo." Hyun-Woo looked around the busy streets before taking out his phone and looking at it.

"From: My Amazing gf

Can you get me boba?"

"I don't really get the hype around boba," Hyun-Woo said. Jisoo placed his arm around Hyun-Woo's shoulder before saying, "This is why you're my bro. I'm also not a fan of having black balls in my mouth." Hyun-Woo sighed as they continued walking, "Jisoo, why did I have to come along? I should be getting ready for the mission."

Jisoo shook his head. "Are you planning on going to this mission in regular clothes? No, we need to look badass." Hyun-Woo grabbed Jisoo's arm and threw it away before grabbing him by the ear and pulling him in. "Jisoo… you told me to go out with you shopping because it was something important. No way you brought me here to buy clothes."

Jisoo groaned in pain as he pulled away from Hyun-Woo. He looked scared. "CALM DOWN! It's not that serious." Hyun-Woo sighed before turning around and beginning to walk away. Jisoo ran after him and grabbed him by the shoulder. "I think you're forgetting whose car we took here." Hyun-Woo turned around and threw a powerful punch at Jisoo. Just before the punch connected, Jisoo weaved back and dodged it.

"You never ask if I want you to pick me up, even when you invite me out… I should've known something was up," Hyun-Woo said, clearly annoyed. Jisoo sighed before stepping back and putting out his hands, signaling Hyun-Woo to calm down. "Bro… we do not want to arrive at this super dangerous mission while wearing sandals and sweatpants. We need to look badass, like with some black trench coats and suits."

Hyun-Woo raised an eyebrow. "So why not invite my girlfriend? She's also going." Jisoo scratched the back of his neck nervously as he replied, "If I'm being honest, bro… I did not feel like third-wheeling."

Hyun-Woo sighed before walking past Jisoo and patting him on the back. "Fine, I'll entertain you, Jisoo. Only this one time." Jisoo smiled as he jumped on Hyun-Woo and hugged him around the neck. "I love you, bro. Please never die."

Hyun-Woo sighed again. Jisoo got off his back, and the two of them continued walking down the city, looking for clothing stores. Jisoo groaned in boredom after not finding a store for some time. His eyes then lit up when he saw a burger stand. "I'M SO HUNGRY, BRO, LET'S GET SOMETHING." Hyun-Woo rolled his eyes as he followed Jisoo, "I'll pass, but spoil yourself." Jisoo grinned as he ordered. After some time, the two of them were walking again. Jisoo stuffed his face with a cheeseburger.

Hyun-Woo looked bored of walking. It had been at least fifty minutes since they arrived, and they still hadn't found a store that sells "badass" trench coats. But after some time, the two of them stood in front of a store named "YUNARA." Hyun-Woo glanced over at Jisoo. "Jisoo, this sounds like an expensive brand. Are you sure you can afford it?" he asked. Jisoo nodded, "Hopefully…" Hyun-Woo repeated his words, "Hopefully…?"

"Hopefully…" Jisoo said again. Hyun-Woo seemed to have a defeated look. He walked into the store, with Jisoo following behind. As soon as they stepped foot inside, a man with a black suit and slicked-back black hair welcomed them, and he bowed before speaking. "Would you like any assistance with finding anything?" The two of them shook their heads. "We're good, thanks," Hyun-Woo said.

Jisoo gulped before looking around. "So this is fancy-fancy…" Hyun-Woo nodded in agreement before the two of them split up and looked around. Hyun-Woo walked up to a black suit. He reached out his right hand and held one of the sleeves. "The material is soft. It feels really nice," he thought. He then began searching for a price tag. "₩1,500,000." Hyun-Woo grabbed the suit and began looking for a trench coat.

Hyun-Woo and Jisoo were now walking down the streets once again, each of them holding a bag. "Bro, how much did you spend?" Hyun-Woo thought for a second, doing all the math in his head. "I think around four million won? How about you?" Jisoo shrugged, "Like three million won? How much do you have in your bank account, bro?" Jisoo asked. Hyun-Woo raised an eyebrow, "I'm not telling you."

"Did you go broke?" Jisoo mockingly asked. Hyun-Woo shook his head, "No, I'm just not telling you." Jisoo chuckled, "Oh, you definitely went broke." Hyun-Woo shook his head again, "I'm not telling you. You aren't going to make me say it."

Jisoo patted him on the back, "It's fine to be broke. You're still my bro." Hyun-Woo began walking faster, and Jisoo jogged to catch up. "Wait, hold on, bro!"

Hyun-Woo sighed, almost as if he had lost all hope in Jisoo. "Jisoo, I'm starting to think you may be a liability in this mission. Maybe Min-Seo was right." Jisoo looked taken aback and offended, "'ME? A LIABILITY?!" He took a small breath before continuing, "Okay, I may not be the smartest or most serious. But I promise you, I can get serious. I'm scary when I do." Hyun-Woo scoffed, "Sure, Jisoo… Sure."

Hyun-Woo then noticed a boba shop, and he pointed at it. "Let's go. Min-Seo asked me for some." Jisoo nodded as he followed Hyun-Woo across the street. No cars were passing. Suddenly, they heard screaming. They both turned to look and saw a woman pointing at a masked man who was running away with a purse. Hyun-Woo ignored it and continued walking toward the boba shop. He looked over at Jisoo and saw him running after the man. Hyun-Woo's face was completely expressionless.

Hyun-Woo walked into the shop. The line was a decent length. His gaze would occasionally move to Jisoo, who was still chasing the man. Eventually, after some time, it was Hyun-Woo's time to order.

"One classic milk tea."
