Chapter 19 - Brainstorming

At the cable car's control panel, Michelle pressed a few buttons while the rest of the group waited beside her.

When Michelle pressed the red button, the cable car's door closed before going back up, which made the group look at it. "That should take it back to Mommy and PJ," she said.

The phone started ringing, which startled the toys before Michelle turned her head to them. "It's alright; it's Ollie calling us," she continued as she grabbed the phone off the GrabPack's hook.

Huggy Wuggy tilted his head as Michelle held the phone out. "Friend...?" he asked.

Michelle was hesitant before looking down. "That... I'm not a hundred percent sure..." she said in a low voice as the phone stopped ringing.

"Psst, it's me again, Ollie," Ollie said. "Cool place, right?"

Michelle looked around the area with a slight frown. "Well... compared to the last time I was here, it's seen better days," she said.

"As you're aware, the kids used to live here; now look at it..." Ollie said. "Anyway, do you see that statue in the middle of the room?"

Michelle looked at the Smiling Critters' statue in the middle. "I see it," she said.

"Take the stairs that go under it," Ollie said. "There's a really cool room in there that powers literally ALL of Playcare! I can give you a key down there."

After the phone call went silent, Michelle stared at the statue with a stoic face. How would someone who sounds younger than me know there was a room under it? she thought. I remember seeing a door at the bottom of the statue and trying to open it when no one was watching, but it was always locked...

"Big Sis!" a young male voice shouted, which surprised Michelle.

Michelle turned her head to a smiling Bunzo Bunny as he pointed up. "They're here!" he shouted.

Michelle looked up and saw the cable car circling the area. "That they are..." she said before looking at the group. "C'mon, let's meet up with them."

The group nodded before climbing the stairs; when they reached the top, the cable car stopped in front of them, and its door opened.

Soon after, PJ Pug-A-Pillar got out of the cable car and wrapped around Michelle before licking her face, which made her giggle a bit and gently place her hand on his head. "Down, boy, down," she said.

Mommy Long Legs came out of the cable car as PJ Pug-A-Pillar got off Michelle before she looked at her. "Did the trip go smoothly?" she asked.

Mommy Long Legs crossed her arms and looked away. "For the most part, yes, but before we got here, I took care of a little... pest," she said.

Michelle looked inside the cable car and noticed the TV was destroyed before giggling nervously with a sweatdrop. "I see..." she said in a low voice.

Michelle looked at the statue. "Well, Ollie said that there's a room under the statue," she said before going down the stairs. "C'mon, we don't want to keep him waiting."

The group nodded before following Michelle; soon after, they saw a white door with a sign that said 'Authorized Personnel Only' before she approached it.

When Michelle was near the door, she looked at its handle before grabbing it; after she pulled it open, the group saw a long staircase with a sign that said 'Restricted Access' on a wooden frame.

Michelle stared at the stairs with a hum. "Well, Ollie was spot on about a room under here..." she said before going down the stairs, which made the group follow.

Soon after, the group entered a large room with a large red, yellow, and blue generator with wires connected to it.

As Michelle approached the back of the room, she saw a large deactivated monitor and a tube surrounded by barred fencing and a barred door next to it before approaching it. When Michelle was closed to the barred door, she grabbed its handle before pulling it open.

Soon after, a key slid down a metal wire inside the tube before it stopped in front of Michelle, which surprised her. Michelle grabbed the key and examined it before noticing the letters 'GP' on the blue part of it. "So you got the key?" Ollie asked.

Michelle looked at the phone. "Yeah, I got it," she said.

"And the first question that came to your mind was where this key goes, right?" Ollie asked.

Michelle looked at the key. "That would be a nice question to answer," she said.

"Well, head back out, and you should find a door just to the left of the cable car you took down here," Ollie said.

When the phone went silent, Michelle hung it on one of the GrabPack's hooks before approaching the group. "So how are we going to go about this?" Mommy Long Legs asked.

Michelle crossed her arms. "Well... if we go as a group, we'll be a huge target for CatNap," she said before placing her hand against her chest. "I think our safest option is if I go out there on my own."

Huggy Wuggy quickly shook his head. "Huggy no like," he said.

Mommy Long Legs nodded. "For once, I agree with him," she said. "Going out there on your own is just as dangerous as going out there in a group."

Michelle looked down with a hum until Bunzo Bunny raised his right arm. "I think I have an idea," he said.

The trio looked at Bunzo Bunny as he lowered his arm. "What if one of the toys tags along with Big Sis Misha whenever she heads into a building?" he asked.

Mommy Long Legs hummed with a smile. "Now that's an idea I like," she said, which made Huggy Wuggy nod in agreement.

Bunzo Bunny smiled as he dropped his cymbals and quickly stood next to Michelle, which made her look at him. "In that case, I call dibs on going with Big Sis Misha first," he said.

The duo flinched. "Hang on, I don't think—" before Mommy Long Legs could finish her sentence, Michelle looked at them. "It's fine."

The duo looked at Michelle. "Out of all the buildings in this area, it's less likely that CatNap will show up there right now," she continued.

The duo stared at Michelle before nodding. "Very well... just be careful, my little Misha," Mommy Long Legs said.

Michelle smiled and nodded before looking at Bunzo Bunny. "Ready to go?" she asked, which made him smile and nod before they climbed the stairs.

After the duo went through the opening, Michelle closed the door behind her before looking around. "Ollie said that there should be a door next to the cable car," she said.

Bunzo Bunny looked up and spotted something before pointing up. "Big Sis, up there," he said.

Michelle looked up and saw a door with a red light above it near some stairs and a rocky pathway. "Nice find," she said before looking at Bunzo Bunny. "Let's head there."

Bunzo Bunny nodded as the duo approached the stairs before climbing them; after they followed the rocky pathway, they stood before a blue door.

Michelle held the key out before putting it in the lock and twisting it, which unlocked the door; she let go of the key before placing her hand on the doorknob and twisting it.

After Michelle opened the door, the duo saw a gray room with an opening on the left side. "This is the complete opposite of what's out here," she said.

Bunzo Bunny stared at the hallway, scared and trembling a bit. "It looks really scary..." he said in a low voice.

Michelle looked at Bunzo Bunny before holding her hand out. "It'll be OK; you're not alone in this," she said gently.

Bunzo Bunny looked at Michelle before nodding and placing his paw in her hand, which made her smile a bit, and holding it before they entered the room and went through the opening.

...

...

...

At the end of the long hallway, the duo entered a small room with claw marks on the walls and door before entering a large room. As the duo walked forward, Bunzo Bunny looked around in shock. "Whoa... what is this place?" Bunzo Bunny asked.

Michelle looked around the room, concerned. "I'm... not sure; none of the children were allowed in this room," she said.

When Michelle looked forward, she saw a large machine with a terminal and three large tubes, with the right one filled with the red gas. "But if I were to guess, this is how they control that gas," she continued.

"Welcome to the Gas Production Zone, the beating heart of the whole evil Playcare system," Ollie said, which made the duo look at the phone. "All that gas you see coming from the machine is made right here in the factory."

The duo approached the machine. "It's called 'The Red Smoke'..." Ollie continued. "Right now, it's all headed off to the right; we need to make that Red Smoke go left instead. That's how we can get to him."

Michelle turned her head to the phone. "How can I do that?" she asked.

"The machine in front of you should help you move the smoke from the right side to the left side," Ollie said.

Michelle looked at the machine's terminal and noticed a text on it that said 'No Power'. "It'll probably have a few dumb safeguards for you to work around," Ollie continued. "But I think you can do it; I'll call you once it's done."

After the phone call ended, Michelle turned her head to Bunzo Bunny. "Well then, let's get this thing powered up," she said, which made him nod before they approached the large opening on the left.

After the duo went through the opening, they saw a giant hatch on the floor with six large wires connected to it, which shocked Bunzo Bunny. "Whoa... that thing is humongous," he said.

Michelle nodded. "I wonder where it leads to..." she said in a low voice.

When Michelle turned her head to the left, she spotted a CatNap cutout next to a lever before they approached it.

When Michelle pressed the button with her free hand, it only made a deep, muffled noise, which made Bunzo Bunny shiver. "I didn't like that..." he said in a low voice.

Michelle nodded in agreement. "Me neither," she said before looking around.

When Michelle turned her head to the back, she spotted a battery inside a tube-like locker before they turned to it. "Let's take that battery and head back to the main room," she continued.

Bunzo Bunny lit up. "I wanna carry it," he said before pulling his paw out of Michelle's hand and sprinting toward the battery.

Michelle approached Bunzo Bunny as he lifted the battery in his arms. "It's not too heavy, is it?" she asked.

Bunzo Bunny shook his head. "Not at all!" he shouted.

Michelle giggled a bit. "Alright then, let's get outta here," she said, which made Bunzo Bunny nod before they left the room.
