"And who's asking?" I said as I turned around, already bored.
And there she was—no other wolf than Alexa.
My former sex partner.
I couldn't help the smirk that formed on my lips.
"Well, well," I said in a low, mocking voice. "Look who we have here."
She smiled brightly, like we were long-lost lovers reuniting after years apart. It made me want to laugh.
"I missed you so much," I said, my tone full of fake sweetness.
Her smile widened like an idiot.
"I knew it!" she said in her usual happy tone. "I knew you'd miss me too."
I stared at her in disbelief.
Did she really not hear the sarcasm in my voice?
Did she really think I meant that?
She opened her arms suddenly. "Now come give mommy a hug."
A hug?
I looked at her like she had lost every single brain cell in her head.
She stood there with her arms wide, waiting… like I was really going to step in and wrap my arms around her.
Ten full seconds passed.
