Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Monster

[Third Person's PoV]

After Goburk finished dealing with Arthur, a large grin spread across his face. Although he was eager to start working on the tasks Arthur had left him in charge of, he still had a shift to finish before he could begin.

With a reluctant sigh, he returned to his empty spot on the pristine row of white marble stands. "Next!" he called out with a grumble, a scowl settling firmly on his face as he leaned forward.

A moment later, a little girl appeared before him, draped in a dark hood, her wavy onyx hair peeking out as she carried a stack of books. "I'd like a private consultation," she said quietly.

Goburk raised an eyebrow. 'Two in a row?' he thought. 'But is she worthy?' He sneered at the girl below. 'No one could be as impressive or worthy as the Pendragon boy.'

"And who's asking?" he asked in a bored, uninterested tone.

The girl reached into her coat and tossed him a key.

Goburk caught it lazily, rolling his eyes. But then he stiffened, blinking in surprise as he examined the obsidian key. He quickly pulled out a monocle to inspect it more closely.

"T-This is…"

The girl raised a single finger to her lips. Her sapphire eyes, cold and hard beyond her years, narrowed into sharp, merciless slits. There was nothing friendly in her gaze.

A shiver ran down Goburk's spine. He swallowed hard, nodding slowly. 'What are the chances…?'

"Right away, miss," the goblin said stiffly, hopping back and shouting, "Cover me!"

"Again?!"

"Just do as you're told!" Goburk snarled, his voice sharp with authority.

He made his way down to the girl and motioned for her to follow. "Come with me…"

As he led her away, a wide grin crept onto his face, euphoria rushing through his veins. 'Could this be another business opportunity~?' he mused, practically skipping.

The girl glanced at him, her expression twisting into visible disgust. She was disturbed by the emotions radiating from him.

Soon, they were in Goburk's office. The girl took a seat across from him, setting the books on the desk.

"Spare me your nonsense," she said curtly. "Let's get this over with. Give me a magical contract to ensure your silence regarding anything you learn from here on out, and bring out the bloodwork test." She rolled her eyes.

Goburk blinked, momentarily stunned. She was nothing like Arthur. A weary smile tugged at his lips. 'That's what I get for getting too hopeful. My expectations were too high… I was right after all— Lord Pendragon is the unique one.

"Well?!" she snapped. "Are you just going to keep staring at me with that stupid look, or are you going to hand over the paperwork already!?"

Her shout snapped Goburk out of his thoughts. He sneered contemptuously. "Right away… Miss…" he muttered, lacing his tone with thinly veiled disdain.

He reached into his drawers and handed her the required sheets. After signing the magical non-disclosure contract, the girl bit down on her lip until blood welled up. She wiped her hand across her lips and smeared the blood onto the parchment.

The paper absorbed it, and moments later, glowing words began to sear themselves into place, written in her blood.

She frowned in disgust at the sheet and passed it to Goburk. "Here. Now hurry up—I need access to my vault."

Goburk studied the bloodwork parchment. His eyes widened until they nearly popped from his skull. In disbelief, he stood up from his seat.

"You… You… unbelievable…" he muttered. "Just what is happening…?" he asked, staring fearfully at the parchment in his trembling hands.

Goburk stared at the sheet with trembling hands. "I… I didn't know he had a sister… You're a Pendragon and a LeFay. Your parents… Arthur Pendragon is your brother—"

A hand shot forward, grabbing him by the scruff of his shirt and yanking him across the table with a rageful slam.

Goburk gasped from the sudden movement, watching as her hood fell away, revealing her full face. She was nearly the spitting image of the boy he'd seen just moments earlier—except more feminine. Her hair was as black as midnight, cascading in waves, and her features were delicate yet sharp.

But her eyes—those sapphire-blue eyes—sparkled just the same.

There was no mistaking it. They were siblings.

Yet what unsettled Goburk most wasn't the resemblance—it was the fury burning behind those eyes.

"That Monster…" Morgana spat, her voice laced with venom. A flicker of fear and terror twisted through her glare. "That monster is no brother of mine. I don't know what it is—but it's not my brother."

Her jaw clenched so tightly it seemed her teeth might shatter.

"If you ever, and I mean ever, refer to it as my brother again, I will slit your fucking throat and watch you bleed out. And believe me, I've seen people die from a slit throat. I know exactly what it looks like. So don't test me. Do I make myself clear?"

Goburk gulped, his head bobbing rapidly in terrified agreement.

Morgana sneered and shoved him back into his chair with contempt. "Good. Now stop wasting my time and take me to my vault."

---

Meanwhile…

"My baby boy! Look what I brought you—your new sibling!" Arthur exclaimed, walking into the room with a beaming smile as he carried the dragon egg meant for Seraphinix.

Cosmo's jaw slackened into a lazy yawn, tongue hanging out as he stretched on his bed.

Arthur gently set the dragon egg beside him. "You're going to be a big brother, Cosmo. My handsome little boy. So be sure to protect it, alright?"

He leaned down, pressing a kiss to Cosmo's head, his hand brushing affectionately along the top.

"Sorry if I'm projecting a little," he added with a soft laugh. "Being a big brother… it's a huge role, after all."

"Arthur?" came Merlin's voice, hesitant and concerned.

Arthur quickly wiped at his eyes, standing up from Cosmo's bed. "Yeah?"

"Are you alright?" she asked sincerely.

Arthur smiled, chuckling weakly. "Yeah. I don't know, I guess I'm just feeling sentimental today. Maybe it's because it's my lbirthday or something. Can't quite explain it."

Merlin sighed inwardly. 'The connection with Seraphinix left more of a mark than I realized… not to mention running into her. Her of all people—and he didn't even recognize her.'

She offered him a gentle smile. "Why don't we head to the Flamels'? They're waiting to celebrate. Penny's been really excited—it's your first birthday with them, after all."

"Sure," Arthur nodded. "But first, I need to place an order. A few extra things I'll need delivered."

"I thought we already made an order at Diagon Alley?" Merlin asked, one eyebrow raised.

"We did, but for what I have planned, it's not enough. I couldn't risk ordering everything at once—it'd look too suspicious."

"Fair enough," Merlin said with a nod. "What do you need? I can get it from multiple sources if needed."

"Well…" Arthur trailed off with a grin.
