Caius stretched his senses toward the barrier of the tall tower of darkness, expecting to be repelled, but instead his sensory ability was absorbed. In fact, the magic of the tower latched onto his senses and fed on them to bolster its own strength and weaken him as a result.
Caius was so wrapped in the parasitic sensation that he didn't even realize that because of the tower leeching on his senses, he was unable to sense anything outside of it.
"Effective," he mumbled as he reined in his senses before he became too weak to move.
It seemed like such an interesting way to assure privacy rather than the more obvious repelling magic. This method seemed better, actually, because it could take advantage of the strength of the person attempting to eavesdrop and acquire the energy to remain standing.
"There," Meline said with a groan she couldn't help, "That should keep them out."
