Roxanne just smiled.
She inched forward, but it was so smooth that it was almost completely imperceptible. She was suddenly only a few inches away from Caius, her face especially close.
"Come on, My Lord," she said, "Surely we can come to an arrangement."
After Kerwin Leopold's loss in his duel against Caius gave away their right to make independent decisions, the Leopold Coven lost all ability to oppose Caius. They had to obey his orders to the very letter, and there was no room for them to rage against his decisions.
But, of course, that was only really important or notable to someone who ever planned to use brute force to get what they wanted. Roxanne was here with a more sneaky and insidious strategy in mind.
Caius kept his smile.
"They didn't send you here, did they?" He asked.
"What?" Roxanne said and paused, for the first time showing a crack in her confident and seductive expression. Even if that crack merely lasted a second.
