Chapter 15: The Fight

In an instant, both Katsume and I launch ourselves toward Hiruinonai, our determination fueling our movement. We rush him with the conviction of warriors engaged in a battle for our lives and our principles.

Hiruinonai, with a sly grin curling at the corners of his mouth, mockingly observes us as though we were nothing more than foolish children attempting to play a game far beyond our understanding. "How naïve," he taunts. "You really thought you could beat me? You've got the body of an adult—but the brain of a brat." With that arrogant assertion, he swiftly seizes both of our hands, trapping us in a vice-like grip that challenges our resolve.

Unfazed by his bravado, Katsume glares at him, irritation dripping from every word. "You'll regret underestimating us," she warns, her voice steady despite the tension that crackles between our rival and us.

I chime in, my tone calm, echoing her sentiment with agreement. In a calculated motion, I pivot low and sweep my leg out, expertly tripping him. He stumbles backward and crashes violently to the floor.

Katsume, seizing the opportunity, advances with a fierce determination. "Take this!" she shouts as she delivers a vicious elbow strike aimed directly at Hiruinonai's head. The impact resonates in the air, but Hiruinonai grits his teeth, hitting the ground harder than before. "This isn't over!" he growls angrily, propelling himself upright in defiance. In one fluid motion, he launches a roundhouse kick that connects squarely with my torso, sending me crashing into a nearby wall.

"Kiro!" Katsume exclaims, her voice laced with shock and worry as she witnesses the brutality of his attack. "Watch out!" Hiruinonai taunts me with cold ferocity. "You're wide open!" In an instant, he capitalizes on Katsume's distraction, flipping her over and slamming her into the wall with incredible force. The impact echoes through the area, and she is flung backward, colliding with the surface that separates us from our adversary.

With both of us temporarily tapped out, we manage to shake off the pain and rise simultaneously, determination coursing through our veins. "This fight is far from over!" we proclaim in unison, rekindling our fighting spirit. We charge at Hiruinonai once more, united in our resolve.

"Take this!" I shout, channeling every ounce of strength I can muster as I drive my body downward into him, effectively body slamming his frame against the unforgiving ground. The earth shudders beneath the force of our clash.

Hiruinonai absorbs the impact. Not willing to let up.

Katsume follows up with a powerful kick, sending him skidding across the terrain.

I leap upward, executing a series of acrobatic kicks that rain down upon his head. As I perform a dizzying flip, I spring off his skull, landing precisely back on the ground, adrenaline surging through me.

Yet Hiruinonai, undeterred, reacts with rage. "It's not over yet!" he growls, channeling his fury into a vicious finger strike aimed directly at Katsume's gut.

The blow sends her staggering backward, and she doubles over, coughing up blood, flung through a wall like a rag doll.

Before I can react, Hiruinonai turns his shadowy gaze toward me, launching a one-inch punch that lands squarely in my chest.

The force is staggering, propelling me backward with unimaginable strength. Midair, he delivers a brutal dropkick, causing me to crash through several walls before I finally tumble to the ground in a daze, blood covering my body.

"N-no...I...can't..go..out..like..this-

not..now…" A wave of despair washes over me as visions swarm my mind—memories of the future flooding back, showing Katsume dying over and over in a relentless cycle. "No...I'm...trapped...in...the..future..again."

Suddenly, I hear a voice resonate within me, strong and commanding: "Rise up like the warrior you are!"

Hiruinonai's laughter echoes mockingly around us. "Hahaha! It's all over for you!"

In that moment, an extraordinary transformation occurs. A blinding yellow light erupts from within me, soaring toward the heavens. As the world around me shifts, the air thickens with a majestic aura that envelops my entire body. I feel an unusual sensation coursing through me, like an awakening. My wounds begin to heal, regenerating at an astonishing rate, and my body rises to its feet, driven by an otherworldly force. My eyes remain tightly shut as my hair transforms to a brilliant white, an emblem of newfound power.

Hiruinonai, now visibly shaken, stares in disbelief. "Just what is this!?" he exclaims, panic creeping into his voice.

I open my eyes slowly, revealing them to have shifted to a radiant yellow. A confident smile spreads across my face, but it quickly fades as I say calmly "The warmth I once felt seeing Katsume fight... it's gone. Replaced by purpose. Cold. Sharp.

Hiruinonai's eyes grew wide with astonishment as a wave of surprise washed over him, leaving him momentarily speechless. The sheer intensity of his fascination was evident as he gazed in disbelief, struggling to comprehend the extraordinary figure before him. "Just what are you!?" He exclaimed, his voice a mixture of curiosity and bewilderment, as countless questions raced through his mind. The air crackled with tension as he attempted to make sense of this remarkable being that seemed to defy all his previous notions of reality.

I deliver my final declaration. "This... is... it… for… you." I stand resolute, ready to confront my adversary with a strength that had lain dormant within me, awakened at last.

To be continued...
