Chapter 78 - Chapter Seventy-Eight: The Rescue

The youth was none other than Xiao Feng himself. At that moment, he wore Kerry's tailored suit—his physique strikingly similar to Kerry's—making him appear even more dashing and formidable.

It was by tracing the faint scent left behind by Old White and the others that Xiao Feng discovered their whereabouts. However, when he found them, they were already shackled and forced into the armored vehicle. Rather than acting rashly, Xiao Feng chose to tail the convoy in silence, waiting patiently for the right moment.

Fortunately, these heavy armored patrol vehicles were sluggish.

Seizing the opportunity as the convoy prepared to turn into a narrow street, Xiao Feng launched his bold rescue.

Leaping down from a balcony, he landed atop the armored vehicle that held Old White and his companions. Swiftly, he moved to the front passenger side, clinging to the vehicle's frame, yanked open the door, and hurled the Alliance soldier inside onto the street with a single, fluid motion.

Then he called out, "Alice—!"

Alice, having collaborated with Xiao Feng countless times, immediately understood his intent. Clenching her teeth, she let out a muffled grunt and unleashed a burst of potent psychic energy, instantly immobilizing every Alliance soldier within the vehicle.

Xiao Feng vaulted inside. With a powerful kick, he struck the soldier in the driver's seat—the man's head slammed against the bulletproof window with a bang, his helmet shattered, and even the glass splintered.

Without pause, Xiao Feng threw him out as well and slipped into the driver's seat. Though he never learned how, he somehow knew how to drive. Seizing the wheel, he veered sharply, breaking free from the convoy.

Seeing the frozen soldiers, Old White lunged forward, lowered his shoulders, and slammed into one of them with tremendous force—knocking the man out cold. With a fierce roar, he snapped his handcuffs and downed another soldier with a brutal punch.

Lin, too, had risen. His cuffs undone, fury burned in his eyes—after all, he'd been beaten by these very men. With a flick of his wrist, an icy blade formed in his hand. With a swift motion, he drove it through the gap in a soldier's armor, burying it deep into his abdomen.

Rice and the others watched in stunned silence as Lin and Old White decimated the Alliance soldiers with ruthless efficiency. Lin straightened his suit, flicked his hair back, and spat disdainfully on the floor. "Damn it, you dared lay hands on me? Do you fools even know who I am?"

Still seething, he dragged the icy blade across the throats of the fallen soldiers, its chilling hiss marking his contempt.

Old White furrowed his brows at the brutality but chose not to intervene—Lin, after all, was a member of KILL.

Lin then climbed into the front passenger seat. With a few swift motions, the control panels before him lit up, revealing the vehicle's full weapon systems.

Cracking his knuckles, he grinned at Xiao Feng. "Nice suit, by the way."

Still driving, Xiao Feng chuckled. "Worry about the guys tailing us, not my fashion sense."

With a smirk, Lin replied, "Leave that to me." He activated the side-mounted autocannons, aligning them with the pursuing vehicle. A deafening barrage followed, as blazing 50mm shells tore through the air and struck the trailing armored car.

Explosions erupted in its wake, thick smoke billowing as the vehicle ground to a halt in the middle of the road.

Ecstatic, Lin whooped and turned the weapons toward another vehicle.

The second armored car fired back, shells hammering their vehicle and sending tremors through the chassis.

Xiao Feng gritted his teeth, steering hard as the shelling intensified. "Can you take it out or not? I'd rather not get blown to pieces!"

"Never say a man can't do something," Lin retorted as he worked the controls.

The vehicle surged forward, crashing through streets toward the city gates—Xiao Feng's intention clear: use the armored vehicle's firepower to blast through the gate and escape.

The battle raged on, Lin and the pursuing vehicle exchanging fierce cannon fire while the rest inside braced themselves against the chaos.

At the city gate, however, a formidable defense awaited. Hundreds of heavily armed Alliance soldiers stood ready, joined by several agents from the Bureau of Paranormal Affairs. The gravity of the situation was clear.

Even more daunting: tanks. Their long barrels locked onto Xiao Feng's direction with lethal intent.

As Xiao Feng turned onto the main street and saw them, his heart sank. The grenade launchers mounted on the tanks far outclassed their vehicle's weapons—a single round could obliterate their armored transport.

Fully aware of the danger, he swerved suddenly, guiding the vehicle down a side street. A tank shell screamed past, striking a parked car, sending it flying several meters before crashing to the ground in a fiery explosion.

Xiao Feng barked to Lin, "Find us a way out—fast!"

Lin frowned, then pointed at the towering city wall. "We could blast our way through."

Following Lin's gaze, Xiao Feng eyed the wall, adjusted the wheel, and roared toward it.

Lin, seated beside him, activated the launchers. Two rockets hissed to life, launching toward the barrier with a trail of fire.

The twin detonations echoed across the city, rattling windows and drawing startled screams from residents.

Through the swirling dust, Xiao Feng could see the result: a jagged hole about two meters in diameter—not nearly wide enough for their vehicle to pass through.

But a wild thought sparked in his mind. Fixing his eyes on the opening, he shouted, "Everyone—strap in!"

His voice barely faded before everyone, including Lin, scrambled to buckle their seatbelts. As he did so, Lin cursed aloud, "Xiao Feng, are you out of your damn mind?!"
