"Yeah, it seems like my landlord's been making quite a name for himself lately. And so has Hell's Kitchen," said Han Lue as he crunched on a handful of potato chips.
At the time, Han had simply assumed Alex Ray was just a mild-mannered college student who managed to survive in Hell's Kitchen thanks to a connection with Kingpin. But now, it seemed he had severely underestimated the man.
Han had been a longtime resident here. He'd put down roots back when Alex first started renting out the apartment units.
The place wasn't fancy by any means, but compared to the rest of Hell's Kitchen, it was clean, quiet, and surprisingly comfortable.
For guys like them, there was nowhere else in America better suited for survival than Hell's Kitchen.
However, a year ago, Han had left for Japan. Only recently did he return after a call from a bald man—someone he owed a favor.
"You know, Dominic, my landlord Alex Ray isn't some average guy anymore," Han said, his tone laced with amusement.
"He controls 80% of the underground industry in the U.S. With his help, you can get anything—gear, weapons, even intel.
Even the FBI doesn't dare stir up trouble here. Honestly, I have no clue what you did to end up so screwed you can't even score a gun," Han added with a teasing grin.
Dominic Toretto listened, but skepticism lingered in his eyes.
He eyed the run-down Chinese restaurant in front of them. It was hard to imagine a crime lord operating from a place like this. Was he being played?
Once upon a time, Dominic and his family struck it big, retired from the game, and lived quietly on a small island.
But recently, enemies resurfaced—putting a bounty on his wife's head.
If it weren't for his elite driving skills, he'd already be dead.
What pissed him off most was that these enemies used every channel to block him—cutting off his access, leaving him with nowhere to turn.
"Don't bullshit me. We're family," Dominic said, his eyes narrowing with suspicion.
"Relax, man. Just be careful. The owner here's not exactly the friendly type," Han warned, pushing open the door to the restaurant.
Dominic shrugged off the warning. Over the years, he'd seen all kinds of gangsters. Neither the FBI nor criminal lords fazed him. In fact, most of his money had come from robbing those very types.
"This Alex Ray guy better hook me up with weapons… or I'll show him what real power looks like," Dominic thought, flashing a dark grin.
In his mind, no one was stronger than family.
The two men stepped into the Good Luck Restaurant.
"Welcome to Good Luck Restaurant!" greeted May Parker with a bright, warm smile. Her voice was friendly, her eyes full of sincerity.
Han glanced around, nostalgic. He knew this place like the back of his hand.
He scanned for Pietro and his two siblings—or even the chatterbox kid—but found none of them. A hint of disappointment crossed his face.
Dominic, meanwhile, was completely captivated by Aunt May's lingering beauty.
He strutted up to her, channeling his signature gravelly charm and smoldering gaze. "Hi there. Name's Dominic. And I gotta say, ma'am—you are stunning."
Dominic had clearly forgotten his main objective: securing Alex Ray's help to protect his wife. Instead, he was fully entranced by May Parker's presence.
With a sleazy grin, he thought to himself, "Kid, you think that doesn't work? I once got a cop to have my baby with this charm."
But May immediately felt a wave of discomfort.
She eyed Dominic's greasy smile and smug expression, and internally cringed. Ugh. What a slimeball.
She scrutinized the two men. One claimed to be a tenant—which raised red flags, since she knew every tenant by face—and this guy wasn't one of them. The other looked like a thug straight out of a B-list crime flick.
Quietly, May began to step back, about to call the Vongola Family to deal with them.
In Hell's Kitchen, the Vongola were far more efficient than the cops. If something went down, the police might take days to investigate. But the Vongola? They'd have answers by nightfall.
Just as she was reaching for her phone, a calm voice interrupted her.
"It's fine, Aunt May. One of them really is my tenant—he's just been away for a while."
May turned and instantly relaxed when she saw Alex Ray approaching.
Her unease dissolved. With Alex here, everything always felt safe.
He walked over, gave her a reassuring pat on the shoulder, and smiled. "Don't worry, Aunt May. I know these two. I've got it handled. Could you bring them some water?"
May nodded and left to grab the drinks.
Alex turned his attention to Han, raising an eyebrow. "Honestly, I thought you'd never come back, Han."
"What? Come on, Alex, I pay my rent every month," Han said with a grin as they clasped hands.
Even while overseas, Han had kept the payments up—just in case he ever had to return to Hell's Kitchen in a hurry.
Then Alex turned to the bald stranger, studying his face.
There was something familiar about the guy...
That smug grin. The constant winking.
"Holy shit," Alex thought. "Isn't this Dom—Vin Diesel—the self-righteous family guy?"
He let out an internal groan.
Alex had pieced it together over a year ago, back when Han first crossed paths with him. This world included Fast & Furious characters, which meant that Dominic Toretto was real. And here he was, standing right in front of him.
A fake hero obsessed with "family," finally meeting someone who didn't buy his act.
Not that Alex admired the guy. Quite the opposite.
He hated Dominic Toretto.
On-screen or off-screen, the man was a walking contradiction. Always preaching "family," yet constantly making decisions that hurt those closest to him to protect his own interests.
