Chapter 243 - Chapter 243 : Desperate Thor and the Mighty Destroyer

The Destroyer stood like a cold-blooded, ruthless war machine. It didn't stop attacking even with Thor's arrival—on the contrary, it fired its red beams even more aggressively.

These beams, blazing like searing flames, relentlessly tore through the surrounding buildings, reducing everything they touched to ash.

The only fortunate thing was that the Destroyer's beams lacked precision.

Despite firing nonstop, it failed to land a single hit on Thor, who deftly evaded the attacks with practiced agility.

Taking advantage of the opening, Thor sprinted toward his injured Asgardian companion and said with resolute clarity, "You must go back and stop Loki. I've learned the truth from you. My father isn't dead. All of this is Loki's doing—his conspiracy."

Although his companions were clearly concerned for his safety, they chose to believe him after seeing the determination in his eyes.

They supported each other and began retreating from the battlefield. Before leaving, they turned to glance at Thor one last time, their eyes filled with both worry and admiration.

Thor watched their retreating backs and made up his mind. His gaze steeled; he had decided—there would be no more running.

Even stripped of his divine power, he knew his duty as the prince of Asgard was to protect his people. He could not allow more needless sacrifice.

He took a deep breath, squared his shoulders, and marched toward the Destroyer with firm, unwavering steps.

There was a gleam of absolute resolve in his eyes—a man ready to die for his people.

From a distance, Tony Stark observed the scene and muttered with emotion, "You know what? That Thor guy's actually a real man. Handsome, too. Hard to believe he was a crying space baby just a few hours ago."

Tony understood Thor's intentions—he meant to face the Destroyer alone. In that moment, Tony had to admit: not all aliens were useless. At least their courage was something to respect, even if they were incredibly reckless.

Alex Ray smiled faintly when he heard Tony. It seemed Thor was finally on the verge of reclaiming his power.

He could see Thor's current actions and found himself musing aloud in his mind:

"There's a tragic nobility in this... like warriors crossing a frozen river, knowing they'll never return."

Thor advanced, step by step, until only he and the Destroyer remained at the heart of the battlefield.

Suddenly, Thor spoke. "Brother, if I've ever offended you... if I've done something to deserve this, then I apologize—sincerely. But please... don't hurt innocent people."

"Killing them won't accomplish anything. If you must end this, then end it with me. Take my life and stop the destruction."

His voice echoed through the empty battleground, filled with sincerity and defiance.

Thor knew Loki must be watching through the Destroyer's eyes. He hoped his words might appeal to Loki's remaining sense of reason and bring an end to the bloodshed.

Sure enough, the Destroyer suddenly stopped.

Seeing this, Thor felt a surge of hope. His words had reached him. He allowed himself a faint smile—but quickly steeled his face. The fight wasn't over.

At that moment, a sudden storm of bullets and missiles erupted in the distance.

Thor's heart clenched.

Explosives rained down around him and the Destroyer, engulfing the battlefield in a deafening inferno of smoke and flame.

"Jump!"

A thunderous explosion rocked the ground as artillery pounded the location where Thor and the Destroyer stood. Dust and smoke blanketed everything.

From a distance, Alex Ray frowned. So, S.H.I.E.L.D. had decided to intervene.

Those agents really knew how to pick their timing.

Now there was a real chance Thor might not get his divine power back at all.

As the smoke slowly cleared, the Destroyer remained standing, completely unscathed.

Thor, groaning, rolled aside to avoid another incoming blast.

Alex heard agents shouting furiously through his telepathic senses:

"Damn it! That didn't work at all!"

"Keep firing!"

"Where are the tanks? Get those tanks in position now!"

Alex watched as the Destroyer gathered energy again, launching another dazzling red beam. The blast streaked through the sky like a fire dragon, hurtling straight toward S.H.I.E.L.D.'s armored units.

The tanks didn't stand a chance. Under the Destroyer's attack, their steel hulls were sliced in half like paper. Explosions burst one after another, flames erupting everywhere.

But the Destroyer didn't stop. It surged forward, step by heavy step, bearing down on the remaining agents.

Every punch it threw dropped another agent. The return gunfire, while rapid and coordinated, barely qualified as an annoyance.

Alex Ray noted grimly that Thor was now dodging not only the Destroyer's attacks but also the chaotic crossfire from S.H.I.E.L.D.

"What the hell is that thing made of?" Tony muttered nearby, his brow furrowed. "Why's its armor so damn indestructible?"

Watching the Destroyer stomp across the battlefield stirred something inside him—a desire to test his own suit against it.

But he hesitated. He didn't want to mess up Alex's plan.

"If you're itching to go, then go," Alex said calmly. "Thor's probably not getting his power back anytime soon."

That was all Tony needed.

He launched into the air, activating his suit and readying the repulsor cannons. Twin beams of energy erupted from his palms, arcing gracefully through the sky before slamming into the Destroyer.

Unfortunately, the results were disappointing. The energy blasts barely scratched the thing's armor.

Tony wasn't ready to give up. He cycled through his full arsenal—missiles, sniper rounds, laser beams—unleashing everything he had on the Destroyer.

Nothing worked.

The Destroyer kept advancing, relentless and untouched, while S.H.I.E.L.D.'s forces dwindled and their weapons ran dry.

Eventually, Tony flew back toward Alex, weapons exhausted.

"Damn, this thing's a beast. If there were three or four of these walking around, Earth would be toast."

Despite his words, Tony didn't look overly worried. He had faith Alex would take care of it.

"Well, if I could use this thing's tech for my own armor, I'd be invincible. It's about time you stepped in, though," Tony added.

By now, the Destroyer had located Thor and struck him with a devastating punch, sending him flying.

Then, it aimed another red beam at the fallen Thor, ready to end his life.

Alex sighed. "Seriously... why hasn't this guy gotten his powers back yet?"

He teleported instantly, appearing between Thor and the beam. With a flick of his hand, he redirected the blast into the sky.

Thor, dazed and bloodied, looked up in astonishment.

"Alex Ray... thank you," he whispered hoarsely.

"Congratulations, Host. Thor Odinson's friendship level has increased to two stars.
