At the summit of a rocky cliff, the newly appointed commander Gaara stood before a sea of shinobi.
Flanking him were Kurotsuchi, Guts, Jiraiya, and other unit leaders, each representing one of the coalition forces.
As Gaara spoke of his past, of pain, of redemption, and of the influence of Naruto and Kushina, his voice carried pure sincerity.
His words struck deep into the hearts of the 80,000 ninja gathered below.
And when he finished, their collective roar shook the heavens.
"OOOOOOHHHHH!!!"
The thunderous cheering marked the success of his speech.
"That fierce little devil sure grew up," Guts muttered with a smirk.
Gaara turned, eyes calm and determined, and said respectfully, "We're counting on you, Lord Guts."
Guts stepped forward, his presence commanding as red-black Conqueror's Haki surged from him, not the kind meant to frighten, but the kind meant to inspire.
"The war has begun."
Four simple words. Yet they rippled through the army like a shockwave.
"OOOOHHHH!!!"
Morale exploded.
In the crowd, Inuzuka Hana... part of Jiraiya's unit shivered. "Why am I suddenly so pumped up…?"
In the blink of an eye, captains leapt to the front lines, guiding their divisions toward their assigned fronts.
Guts, meanwhile, didn't bother remembering who the Second Division fought in the original anime. None of that mattered.
His only targets: Obito and Madara.
As for the nuisance named Yakushi Kabuto, he had already passed that problem off to Shisui.
In fact, before departing, Guts had asked Shisui to take Sasuke's eyes. Whether the kid had cooperated… was another matter.
"Sensei! Kurotsuchi-sama! Incoming... lots of enemies!"

"Way too many! Prepare Earth Style techniques!" Kurotsuchi ordered loudly.
"No need for that much effort."
Guts cut her off, disappearing in a blur.
Boom—!
In an instant, he reappeared in the heart of the White Zetsu army.
Many of them had barely emerged from the ground. They didn't even have time to blink.
"AAAAAAHHHH!!!"
With a shout, Guts released a massive wave of Conqueror's Haki.
The battlefield trembled.
Zetsu collapsed like dominoes. One after another, they dropped to the ground without resistance... eyes rolled back, foam bubbling at the mouths.
"All of them... wiped out?!" Hanabi, in her Byakugan state, shouted in awe.
Kurotsuchi's jaw nearly dropped. "T-This is… Conqueror's Haki? The legendary power!?"
But there was no time to admire it.
Kurotsuchi snapped back into focus and roared, "Everyone, move! Finish them while they're down!"
"OOOOHHHH!!!"
Fueled by adrenaline, the second division charged forward like starved wolves upon a wounded deer.
Those Zetsu who had fainted were swiftly torn apart by the combined fury of the Allied Shinobi Forces.
Some of the White Zetsu looked… different.
Unusual markings. Patchwork limbs. Twisted faces like some kind of Frankenstein experiment.
"Ahh… enhanced White Zetsu," Guts muttered. "They fused them with Hashirama's cells. Trying to resist my Conqueror's Haki now, huh?"
"Hahahaha!"
He laughed, walking casually through the battlefield.
"They went to all this trouble and still ended up on the floor."
"Eight Trigrams: One Thousand Eight Hundred Twenty-Four Palms!"
Hinata and Hanabi streaked past Guts in a flash of white and orange light.
They tore through the enhanced Zetsu like paper, even without visible tenketsu.
No acupoints? No problem. Their raw power alone was enough to crush flesh and bone.
"W-Women? That young?"
"They're just girls… how are they this strong?!"
They darted across the battlefield like twin Golden Flashes, leaving even hardened Jōnin speechless.
When the sisters paused, Kurotsuchi and several nearby ninja stared.
Hyuga clan?
No doubt.
But their strength… clearly had Guts's fingerprints all over it.
Everyone glanced his way.
"This kind of enemy isn't enough to push you past your limits, Hinata."
Guts stepped beside her, foot stomping down on a half-recovering White Zetsu and snapping its spine.
Hinata opened her mouth to reply but suddenly, her Byakugan pulsed.
She turned her gaze sharply to the right. "Sensei! That direction!"
Meanwhile, in a hidden underground cave...
Yakushi Kabuto... no, Snake Sage Kabuto sat cross-legged in the shadows, face cold and calculating.
"Guts… he really is terrifying," he muttered.
"Even that fake Madara fears him."
Someone like that… no ordinary army could harm.
But Kabuto wasn't just some small fry.
A wicked grin curled on his lips as he took out a chess piece.
"Then allow me… to show what I'm capable of."
Back on the battlefield of the Second Division.
Thunk…
A coffin erupted from the mud, rising ominously before the assembled troops.
The chakra was vile, the aura unmistakable.
Guts, Konan, Hinata, and the others all narrowed their eyes.
"That bastard Kabuto really loves using cheap tricks," Guts muttered, stepping forward with a sigh.
