Chapter 52 - Forgotten

"I'll go into the Virtual God Realm now and see if I can reach the Spirit Transformation Heaven."

He acted on the thought immediately.

Shi Yi wasn't one to procrastinate or be a clown who always put things off. He closed his eyes and began to use his spiritual energy to communicate with the Virtual God Realm that existed in the void.

His spiritual energy drifted in the void, essentially a journey of the soul.

Shi Yi's spirit didn't wander for long before he felt a virtual gate, shrouded in mist and unclear. He walked towards it.

Formed purely from spiritual energy, Shi Yi gently pushed open the hazy gate. As always, he didn't even have time to react before he was instantly sucked into another world.

And this was the Virtual God Realm.

A virtual world purely constructed from spiritual energy.

A world with almost perfect realism.

But Shi Yi found something was wrong.

The Virtual God Realm he entered was not right.

When Shi Yi was five or six years old, he had been curious and specifically came to the Virtual God Realm a few times, but the people here only knew how to fight, and he found it very boring. Afterward, he basically didn't enter the Virtual God Realm anymore.

However, five years later, after he once again entered the Virtual God Realm, he found that he didn't enter the Initial Land, but instead entered a mysterious place he had never heard of or been to before.

"Where is this place?" Shi Yi asked in surprise.

What met his eyes.

A desolate expanse, filled with deathly silence, broken walls and ruins.

Debris and rubble covered the earth, vast ruins stretching as far as the eye could see, with one massive palace after another collapsed.

It was possible to discern that the once magnificent palaces and halls had been destroyed by a terrifying force.

But even so.

Shi Yi could still feel a sense of ancientness and age from this desolate ruin.

He wandered alone in this desolate wasteland, walking for an unknown amount of time. The further he went, the more lost he became, as if he had forgotten the reason he came to the Virtual God Realm.

Just then.

"Smack!" A forceful whipping sound.

A vibrant, emerald green willow branch emerged from the void, directly striking Shi Yi's backside with a resounding smack.

At the same time.

A sigh echoed from the depths of the unknown, tinged with a hint of disappointment.

"It hurts!"

The searing pain jolted Shi Yi back to reality. He realized he had been wandering alone in this desolate wasteland for an immeasurable amount of time, so long that he'd lost all track of it.

"Where exactly am I?"

Shi Yi wanted to leave, but he couldn't find a way. It was as if his consciousness was severed from his physical body, preventing him from autonomously withdrawing his consciousness from the Virtual God Realm.

"Where exactly am I?"

Shi Yi blinked, and his Double Pupils instantly manifested within his eyes.

The next instant.

Behind him, the Ten Heavens appeared like ten great suns, suddenly illuminating the desolate, ruined land. At the same time, countless Double Pupils appeared in the sky.

The resplendent great suns, formed from the Ten Heavens, lit up the desolate, ruined land. The countless Double Pupils that appeared in the sky were observing the true nature of this ruined land.

"What exactly is this place!"

This was Shi Yi's third time asking. He hadn't expected an answer, but in the next moment, he felt a chill run down his back, and he was instantly drenched in sweat.

"This is..." a crisp voice said.

"This is..." an aged voice said.

"This is..." a loud voice said.

Different voices rang out one after another, followed by countless human shadows, beast shadows, and indescribable phantoms.

They appeared quietly on all sides of Shi Yi, as if trying to tell him where he was.

But they could never quite explain it. The more they tried, the more anxious they became, but they still couldn't utter the crucial words.

It was as if an irresistible force prevented them from saying where they were; they could only repeat the words "This is..." incessantly.

"Can't you be clear? If you can't, then shut up!"

Shi Yi possessed a special talent: the more fear he felt, the calmer he became. Fear didn't make him lose his mind; instead, it allowed him to enter a state of near-perfect composure.

After experiencing the initial sweat that poured from his brow, he had completely calmed down in the face of these human shadows, beast shadows, and indescribable phantoms that swirled around him.

Once Shi Yi calmed down, he suddenly realized that these human shadows, phantoms, and the indescribable phantoms, for the most part, didn't possess much intelligence. It was as if something had erased their wisdom and memories.

"This is," a crisp voice said.

"This is," an aged voice said.

"This is," a loud voice said.

"I can't make it out. Get out of my way," Shi Yi frowned.

"This is," a crisp voice said.

"This is," an aged voice said.

"This is," a loud voice said.

The shadows of people, beasts, and indescribable phantoms surrounding Shi Yi still chanted those three words. They stared at Shi Yi with eyes that held little intelligence, only a remnant of self and lingering memories.

As they repeated the words over and over, they found they couldn't utter the key characters. They grew anxious, and the more anxious they became, the less they could speak. Finally, they could barely articulate even three words, forgetting why they had come here and what they wanted to say to Shi Yi.

Clearly.

They were also beginning to forget, forgetting themselves and forgetting Shi Yi, just as Shi Yi had, before the willow branch struck his rear. They gradually forgot their origins and where they belonged.

"This is..." a clear voice said.

"This is..." an aged voice said.

"This is..." a booming voice said.

The human shadows, beast shadows, and indescribable phantoms were no longer surrounding Shi Yi and instead dispersed on their own.

"This is..." a clear voice said.

"Here." The voice was aged.

"Here." The voice was loud.

Figures of people, figures of beasts, indescribable shadows – one word was forgotten, forgotten how to say it.

"This." The voice was crisp.

"This." The voice was aged.

"This." The voice was loud.

Figures of people, figures of beasts, indescribable shadows – after forgetting two words, they gradually became bewildered.

Finally.

From where did they come, and where did they go?

Figures of people, shadows of beasts, indescribable phantoms, all forgetting everything, gradually vanished, as if they had never existed, disappearing without a trace.

However, their disappearance didn't bring Shi Yi any relief. Instead, it raised his vigilance to the maximum. He seemed to realize the danger of this place.

Forgetting.

This was a place that could make people forget everything. He had to get out quickly, get out of this godforsaken place, or his consciousness might be trapped here forever.

Right?

Where exactly was this place? What was I doing here? Several questions suddenly popped up in Shi Yi's mind. He felt like he was about to forget something important, but he felt he couldn't forget, he absolutely couldn't forget this matter.

"Damn it!"

Shi Yi's head was in a mess, and his consciousness began to blur.

Just as the vibrant, green willow branch in the void, brimming with life, was about to lash out and smack Shi Yi's butt again…

Shi Yi suddenly opened his mouth and bit down on his own finger, hard. Crimson blood slowly trickled down his wrist from his finger.

The fingers are connected to the heart.

The intense pain cleared Shi Yi's mind for a split second. In that instant, Shi Yi remembered all the forgotten things.

Without the slightest hesitation, he broke through the barrier between the Heavenly Cave Realm and the Spirit Transformation Realm, and began to transform the power within his Spirit Transformation Heaven.

It has to be said,

the Virtual God Realm's imitation of the main body's physical form was nearly perfect. Not only was the physical body formed by the spiritual consciousness in the Virtual God Realm indistinguishable from his real body, but even the attributes of the power within his Heavenly Cave were almost identical.

Almost.

Not entirely.

The Virtual God Realm didn't seem able to perfectly replicate Shi Yi's Ten Heavens. His Ten Heavens possessed something more profound, something deeper than the Virtual God Realm itself.

The next moment.

Earth, water, fire, and wind surged, and Shi Yi exploded on the spot.
