Chapter 13 - BLOOD ARMOR (I)

As Aethon stared at the ENTITY, he saw its flame which replaced its head was no longer a dark purple flame, but a dark blue flame. The same dark blue color it had when he had first encountered it.

The dark blue flame started to dwindle in size. The ENTITY'S body was shrinking back to its original size, the same size it had when it was chasing the girl. It's body that had an obsidian color and metal like texture began to fade away, it's body began to look more like the color of charcoal and resembled a human more, well minus the head. As this was happening, the ENTITY started to let out a ghoulish scream that filled the night sky alongside the thick smell of blood.

Aethon who was witnessing this happen infront of him, didn't say anything. He didn't move. He didn't react. His face was emotionless, like a blank canvas. His body stood still has if it was a statue. His eyes, which were once filled with life, looked like the abyss had drained them from his body. The only thing that moved where the blood threads that were shooting out the stubs of his 10 fingers.

The blood threads began to glow a crimson red and moved like silk threads to his feet and began coiling themselves up around Aethon. As the blood threads began to envelope Aethons body, it started to refine itself. Covering him from his feet all the way up to his neck. His left calf that was cut slowly began to close and heal. The threads also began to change his appearance. His boots, torn pants, and white shirt that had dry black blood began to dissappear under the coiling blood threads. As the threads approached his neck it seeped into his skin and made red lightning marks around his neck. His eyes which were once blue, were now a hazy crimson red and his silver hair that once shined in the moonlight, was now a dark black color. A single white streak began to appear on the top right side of his hair. Two long blood horns began to protrude out of his forehead. They were both around 90 cm in length and were arced upwards, as if they were trying to reach the sky. Inbetween the 2 blood horns a single flame appeared. It was a dark purple color. It was small. It's heat was so strong that anything surrounding Aethon with a 3 meter radius caught on fire and burnt to a crisp.

As this was happening 2 figures began to approach Aethon, one was a sillouhette of a man and the other, a woman. As they got closer to Aethon, the light that emanated from him began to reveal their faces.

The man was Vaerion. His face had a look of confusion along with dry blood that covered his left cheek and his blonde hair while the person walking next to him was a slender woman who was just abit shorter then him, she had a cloak and mask on, it was a white mask. Her hair was a quicksilver color and she had a long kitana at her waist on her right side. Her right hand was resting on the hilt of her kitana that was resting inside a scabbard.

As they approached Aethon, a huge metal handcuff was clutched in Vaerion hand, it was the mana dampening chains.

As they were about 5 meters away from Aethon, both of them stopped and stared. They could sense something was wrong, not because the ENTITY was releasing a ghoulish scream whilst crouching on the ground, but because of what was happening to Aethons body. Has they began to walk towards Aethon, they approached slowly. But the more closer they got the more they could feel the heat that was surrounding Aethon and the ENTITY.

They saw the grass that was surrounding Aethon had been burnt to ash, and the part of the lake that was behind him was beginning to boil and release hefty amounts of steam.

As Vaerion and the cloaked woman began to slowly walk towards Aethons direction again, Vaerion stepped on a piece of bark that made a nose that broke the silence. It wasn't loud, but it was loud enough to get Aethons attention.

Aethon then shot blood threads at the ENTITY and binded it to one place and then turned to face Vaerion and the cloaked woman, he stared at them. He wasn't blinking. His face, emotionless. His eyes dead. Vaerion who had his hand on his sword ready to draw it out, stopped and stared at the way Aethon looked. The cloaked woman did the same. The fire that was emanating from Aethon stopped within a second and the small purple ball of flame dissappeared. He started to slowly walk towards Vaerion and the cloaked woman, his gaze fixed on them. Vaerion stared at Aethons eyes, which were once blue but now were a hazy crimson red, his hair a now dark black color that had a single white streak on the right side of his head. He had crimson red horns protruding out his head. As Vaerion saw this he knew trying to say something to make him snap out of it would be pointless. So he took a deep breath in and out, looked at the woman next to him who also turned her head to face him and said to her in a commanding voice, :"First we deal with him and then the ENTITY."

Aethon stopped walking and propelled himself forward towards them, destroying the ground beneath him. As he lunged forward, a dozen blood threads shot out of Aethon and was aimed at them, each tipped with barbed, claw like ends. The threads screamed through the air, coiling mid flight before snapping forward with lethal precision. Flames ignited along their lengths, burning a crimson color. The fire warped by the SANGUINAETHER until it looked more like molten blood then flame.

Vaerions sword flashed, slicing through the first volley, but each thread was recoiled and reformed as if they were alive. The cloaked woman darted sideways her movements were smooth, she moved like a shadow between strikes. Still, one thread had managed to graze her shoulder, leaving a smoldering tear in her cloak. As this happened she said in a low pitched voice, :"Tch, you really aren't making this easy."

Aethons voice was like a guttural snarl that was unrecognizable, had he saw the woman getting cut he spoke the words, :"BLEED FOR ME."

The threads began to explode outwards in every direction, which forced Vaerion and the woman to separate. Vaerion lunged himself forward, cutting 2 threads before rolling under a third one that snapped towards his throat. Aethons body spun, which in turn made the threads pull back like whips, the air cracking under their force.

The cloaked woman managed to close the distance between her and Aethon in an instant, her kitana was still sheated, her body was weaving between slashes of flaming blood. Her presence was unnerving like water gliding through a storm without getting wet. She drew her blade in a single flash, slashing one thread in half, and then sliding under another to reach Aethons flank. Has she did this, she thought to herself, :'These threads are dangerous but weak in nature.'

Aethon turned too fast. A backhand of barbed threads met her mid strike and though she twisted away, the impact launched her into the dirt. As she got up directly after hitting the dirt she said in a low voice to herself while panting, :' Well atleast your reflexes and speed are still good even if you aren't in control of your body right now.'

Vaerion on the other hand used this opportunity to get closer to Aethon. His sword was glowing faintly with an icy hue. He closed the 1 meter gap between him and Aethon by using mana to enhance his speed and strength. Has he closed the gap and got to about 2 steps away from Aethon, he slashed down hard towards Aethons chest but the SANGUINAETHER twisted 3 plates of armor ontop of the armor that was already protecting Aethon. The blade screeched as it scrapped against the hardened blood. Aethons knee shot upwards, colliding with Vaerions ribs and sent him staggering. [Due to absorbing all that mana that the entity had absorbed, the Sanguinaether made the armor much more stronger then the blood threads].

Aethon who had his face down after sending Vaerion flying around 5 meters away from him, slowly began to pick his face up, and has he did this, the moon which was now shinning clearly in the sky, revealed a menacing grin on Aethons face.

As the light from the moon revealed the menacing grin on Aethons face, he shot flames along every thread at once, the heat was pushing back the night air. He then swung them in a wide arc, each impact shattered the ground into molten cracks. Vaerion barely blocked one, the force was so great and so fast that it numbed his arms abit, while the cloaked woman reappeared behind Aethon, aiming her palm at his neck.

Without looking, Aethon sent a spike of blood from the back of his neck to stop her...
