Chapter 52 – "Shadows Before the Storm"
(Arcane Drifters: Season 2 – Heavenly Paradise Arc)
(Style: Slow-paced, deep, emotional, mystery-building)
---
The Revilsor's quiet hum echoed in the canyon winds. It cruised slowly along the cracked dirt path, its engine whispering like a beast that had just woken from slumber. The sky above, once bright with drifting white clouds, now wore a pale gray—silent, heavy, and watching.
Inside the Revilsor, the air was unusually still.
Shen Karguro leaned against the rear window, his dark coat fluttering slightly from a nearby vent. His eyes, sharp and deep, weren't glowing—but they weren't resting either. He watched the shifting sky, lost in thought.
Ruke sat across from him, staring at the small bolt of lightning sparking between his fingers.
"Ever since that fight…" he muttered, "something's off in the air."
Eliz looked up from her notepad, where she was sketching a new magic circle. "You feel it too?"
Kenya, sitting silently near the front, gave no reply. His face was cold as stone, arms crossed, eyes half-closed—but his mind wasn't asleep. Deep down, he was holding a secret none of them knew. A name. A war. A truth.
Lilia, the newest member of Heavenly Paradise, sat near the door. Her silver-blue hair fell softly down her shoulders, her lightning mark faint on her neck. She was still quiet—adjusting to being surrounded by legendary drifters. Yet she didn't show fear. Just silent respect.
Suddenly, Shen spoke, voice calm.
"Ryulga's been too quiet. And the sky's been the same since we left that village."
Ruke raised an eyebrow. "What, you think this is some kind of... omen?"
"No," Shen replied. "I think something's following us."
The entire Revilsor fell silent.

Scene Change: Outside the Revilsor
Behind a dead tree, far from the road, a black figure crouched. Shadowed eyes, deep purple robes, and a mask carved with ancient demon runes. A whisper crackled through the air.
> "Phase One complete. Next village: collapse in three hours. Do not alert the Karguro... yet."
The figure disappeared into the dust, like smoke scattering into the wind.

Back in the Revilsor...
Kenya stood up and walked to the back, eyes still closed. "We reach the Drifter HQ in two hours. Shen, Ruke—don't leave your guard down."
"Why?" Eliz asked, concerned. "You sensed something?"
Kenya gave no answer. Just a slow smirk. "Let's call it... instinct."
Ruke narrowed his eyes, muttering under his breath, "You've been acting weirder than usual lately..."
Lilia suddenly leaned forward. "Should we prepare defenses?"
Shen nodded. "No. Not defenses. A welcome."
Everyone turned to him.
He opened one eye, a sly grin crossing his face.
"Whatever's watching us, let it know we're the ones who burn shadows. Let it know we're Heavenly Paradise."
And for a moment, silence returned. But outside, in the shadows of the desert hills, a second masked figure arrived. Watching. Listening.
> "So... that's the team who'll shake the Arcane Order... Interesting."
