Satel and Shin got teleported to a small abandoned country house. Shin looked around in the dusty house.
There was broken and worn out furniture on the floor. Windows were broken. Shin walked out the room he was in, Satel followed behind.
Satel walked past Shin and opened the front door. She ran down the porch and looked up. She took in a large breath of air.
"Demon kingdom! I have returned!" She yelled out in joy.
Shin carefully went out the door onto the porch. He cautiously looked around at the clear green fields with a few houses here and there.
Shin walked off the porch and stood beside Satel. It was quiet there, not like the town he grew up in.
"Hey Satel. Where's the demon king's castle?" Shin asked.
Satel looked at Shin. She pointed towards the nearby mountain range.
"It's on the other side of the country" Satel answered as she lowered her hand.
Without warning, Satel sprinted for the houses nearby. Shin was shocked but sprinted after her and caught up to her.
They ran for a while until they reached a cluster of five houses. There was a commotion in the middle of the houses. Almost like a celebration.
Satel walked towards the crowd. Shin closely followed.
A demon turned its head and saw Shin and Satel.
"Hey chief. Looks like you have a visitor," the demon said as he nudged another demon sitting on a chair.
The demon looked behind him and then got up. He was a tall man with large beard with grey streaks in his hair.
Satel smiled and ran to the chief. She hugged him as he hoisted her into the air. He spun her around then put her down.
"Welcome back sweetheart," the chief said with a smile forming on his face.
Satel smiled back as she nodded like a little child. The chief looked behind Satel, at Shin.
"And what of the human?" The chief asked, his smile fading.
Shin walked up to the chief and bowed before him.
"Hello sir. My name is Shin," Shin said, still bowing.
The chief was momentarily shocked before turning his head towards Satel.
Satel looked down in shame.
She said,"This is the replacement I've been working on to replace the demon king ,father."
The chief stayed silent. The crowed went silent. The atmosphere became tense. The silence echoing through the crowed.
"A human!?" The chief spoke out, his anger boiling.
Satel stayed silent.
"Yes sir. I owe her my life and as such , I will follow her command," Shin said.
The chief stared into Shin's eyes. He saw the determination in them. The chief sighed.
"Well. I can sense you have demon blood in you so we'll allow you a shot a throne," the chief said as he let out another sigh.
Satel looked up at the chief with a smile on her face.
"Thank you father, I promise you he will not fail," Satel said with confidence.
The chief turned around and gestured to the crowd. The crowd opened up revealing a demon comfortably leaning back on his chair.
The demon grinned as he got up and walked towards the chief.
The chief spoke, " our trial is simple. Defeat Bael in a fight and you have the first approval out of seven."
Shin tilted his head in confusion.
"What do you mean by the first approval out of seven?" Shin asked, confused.
"You'll have to get the approval of all seven demon clans in order to be king," the chief responded.
Shin looked at Satel with anger written all over his face. Satel looked away.
This bitch didn't even have the courtesy to tell me about this
"Draw your weapon human," Bael said as he pointed his sword at Shin.
Shin responded by taking out his weapon and extends its blade out. The two stared at each other as the trial begins.
