"Sheesh, well that's ominous. Let's get through the plan, shall we…?" Jason turned to face the Titans and Zatanna, hands in his pockets.
The room fell into an awkward silence. Eyes shifted. Nobody spoke. Jason blinked, then narrowed his gaze."…You all don't have a plan, do you?"
Beast Boy rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "Well, we just gotta go to Azarath and save Raven. Doesn't really need much of a plan, does it?"
Cyborg folded his arms, his mechanical eye glowing faintly. "We can't make a plan without intel. We're going in blind—dark. Relying on faith."
Jason raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. "A robot… relying on faith?"
Cyborg's eye flickered, but his voice was steady. "And what's wrong with that? Raven is our friend. If we have to jump into the dark to save her, then that's what we'll do."
Before Jason could quip again, Starfire floated forward, her voice earnest and radiant. "Yes. Raven is our sister in arms. If we must brave the fires of hell itself, we shall not hesitate."
Jason studied her for a moment, then gave a slow, approving nod. "Nicely said. I'm not against your recklessness. If you're doing this for a friend… I can respect that. Makes me happy to see you all willing to bleed for one another." His lips curled into a faint smile. "Let's do this then. Let's see this… alien hell."
With that, Constantine stepped forward, brushing ash from his coat sleeve. He muttered under his breath as his hand traced symbols across the ground. A circle of fire and ink-black energy spread outward, glowing with demonic runes that pulsed like a living thing.
"That'll be the gateway," John announced with a grim nod. "Everyone inside the circle. Chop chop."
The Titans stepped in hesitantly—Beast Boy cracking a nervous joke under his breath, Cyborg scanning the glyphs, Starfire standing tall, Nightwing silent but tense. Jason stepped in last, his eyes flicking between each of them, calculating.
John's gaze slid to Zatanna. "Lass. It's time. Recite the spell."
Zatanna's breathing slowed, her pupils dilating until her eyes went completely black. Her voice carried like an echo through the chamber, reverberating with ancient power:
"Htaraza oT… lleh ngierof eht fo setag nepO!" (Open Gates of the Forgein Hell....To Azarath)
The air split apart. Darkness poured in, swallowing sound, light, and warmth. The circle erupted, dragging them downward in a violent spiral.
And then—everything went black.
...
As soon as their eyes opened, they were met not with fire and brimstone, but with a lush expanse of green. A garden stretched out around them, vibrant and alive. Beyond it rose a massive city of spires and towers, sleek and silver, shimmering like something out of the future.
Jason whistled low, scanning the skyline. "Damn… I don't think aliens understand hell the same way we do. This is practically a vacation spot."
John Constantine flicked a lighter, cigarette between his lips. "Don't be so sure, mate. Look closer."
Jason squinted. And then he saw it—cracked facades, collapsed bridges, whole sections of the skyline broken and scarred. The scent hit him next, sulfur and charred flesh. "Yeah… I see it. The fractures. And that stink—demons. Still, gotta admit, I was expecting something a lot more… fucked up."
Nightwing kept his voice level, but there was tension beneath it. "Cyborg?"
Cyborg scanned, his optics whirring. "Not much. Just like you guys—no power grid, no networks. I'm cut off."
"You can't connect," Zatanna said, her voice low and steady. "But I can. Magic lingers here. Faint… but everywhere. A battle happened in this place."
John exhaled smoke. "Aye. Demon magic too. Your friend didn't go quietly, love. She's been fighting hard."
Jason finally knelt, placing his hand to the soil. He shut his eyes, focusing, reaching with the cursed energy within him.'If I'm right… demons draw from something close. Similar roots. Same origin. If so… I can track them.'
The air hummed around him as his senses spread across the city. Demonic presences lit up in his mind like burning coals.
"West side," Jason muttered. "Crowds of them. Hunting something—or someone. That's likely your friend. South is quiet. Hardly anything. East… demons again, but scattered. As for the North—"
He broke off as a wave of power slammed into him. His cursed energy recoiled violently, sending him to his knees with a grunt.
"WHAT—ugh!" Jason's teeth clenched. The pain was small. The fear was not. His face had gone pale. He turned to Constantine, voice tight. "What the fuck is that?"
John's eyes narrowed, a rare seriousness settling over him. "Looks like you just glimpsed something you weren't supposed to."
Jason's laugh came out harsh, disbelieving. "That wasn't just a demon, John. That thing—its power—hell, it could erase Earth like an afterthought."
Zatanna stepped closer, alarm in her eyes. "John, what is he talking about?"
Jason's voice sharpened. "You didn't tell them, did you? And yet here we are, opening gateways like it's child's play. What if that thing crosses into our world?"
He knew the truth now. He'd heard whispers before, but sensing it directly stripped away any bravado. Trigon. That demonic signature dwarfed anything he'd felt—even Lucifer had never rattled him like this. Superman's strength felt laughable in comparison. Mazikeen's reign, trivial. This was apocalyptic.
John raised a hand. "Relax. If Trigon could've crossed over, he'd have done it ages ago. He can't. Not without the lass. That's why he needs her. Raven's the key."
Jason exhaled, steadying himself, forcing back the shake in his hands. For a moment, his composure cracked. Since arriving in this world, only Lucifer had ever unsettled him this deeply. But Constantine was right—Raven was both Trigon's weakness and his weapon.
"Can somebody explain what the hell is going on?" Beast Boy asked, his voice pitched with frustration.
Jason looked at him, then away. "…Forget it. Your friend's to the west. That's where the demons are thickest. Just don't—don't go north. Nothing's waiting there but death."
Nightwing nodded briskly. "Then we move. We'll split into pairs. Starfire with me. Beast Boy and Cyborg. John with Zatanna. Whoever finds Raven, signal the others. Jason—"
"I'll be fine alone," Jason cut in.
Nightwing frowned. "You sure?"
Jason adjusted his jacket, His tone was final. "Don't worry about me. Let's just move."
