settled into her chair, her eyes sweeping the room as a single thought press at the back of her mind: Why am I here?
She drew in a quiet breath before offering a poised smile. "Good morning, everyone."
Her voice carried with the calm assurance she had rehearsed, though beneath it lingered the weight of circumstance. "I am Lila Browns, the eldest daughter of the Browns family. As you all know, I will be stepping into my father's place as the new CEO of Browns Company. It was meant to be another standing here before you today, but plans have changed—and so, the responsibility falls to me."
I thought of my father. His laughter echoing down the halls, the way his hand lingered on my shoulder when he spoke of the company's future. He had dreams, plans woven with his very blood. And now, here I was, expected to rise from this funeral pyre into the seat he had left behind. The new CEO. The daughter reborn as heir.
But how could I lead with this secret festering inside me? How could I speak of legacy when the truth was buried in the coffin beside him?
"Lila."
My name broke through my thoughts. It was Uncle mark, his hand firm on my arm, guiding me toward the pulpit. The room hushed, all eyes on me.The meeting had ended. Lila rose gracefully from her seat and walked out, with Uncle Mark following close behind. They made their way into the office, where he wasted no time in speaking.
"What's going on, Miss Lila?" he asked, his voice laced with surprise. "Why this sudden appearance? I thought you had no interest in taking over the company. What changed?"
Lila turned to face him, her expression steady. "I'm sorry for not telling you sooner, Uncle Mark," she said firmly. "I don't know why, but I've found myself drawn here. It has always been Father's wish that I take over the company after him. Perhaps…it's finally time for me to do that."
A faint smile tugged at Uncle Mark's lips. "I'm glad you've changed your mind," he said warmly. "This is where you truly belong."
"Thank you, Uncle Mark," Lila replied, her voice soft but resolute.
He gave her a respectful nod. "I'll take my leave now. If you need anything, just let me know, Miss Lila." With that, he departed, a spark of excitement lighting his face.
After sitting for a while Lila decided to walk around the company To see how things have been. Lila walk around the company trying to get familiar with the environment. But overhead some whispers from the employees some were supporting her, some were doubting her. She kept quiet and walk passed them like she heard nothing, tho she's going to be the new boss but still she needs to get proof of her father's death.
