Ficool

Prelude

"I promised you forever. But forever wasn't enough."

He lay on the bed they used to share, staring at the ceiling like it might hold answers. The house was quiet now,too quiet. The kind of silence that wraps around you, tight and suffocating.

He'd just come back from her funeral. His clothes still smelled like incense and wilted flowers. The tears on his face hadn't even dried yet, but what was the point of wiping them away? He'd cried like this before. Too many times.

Because this wasn't the first time she had died.

Every time she came back, she looked different. Laughed differently. Lived differently. But it was always her. And every time, she died. And he lived. Because he couldn't die.

Not really.

The Gods had cursed him. Left him wandering the earth alone, unable to move on, unable to forget. She remembered everything in past live until now. This time, she hadn't known him. She'd fallen in love with him all over again without realizing why it felt so familiar.

And now she was gone again.

He clenched his fists against the bed sheets. Maybe it was grief, or maybe it was something deeper, but something in him snapped this time. He couldn't keep living like this. He couldn't keep letting her go.

He would find the ones who cursed him. He would make them answer for every lifetime he spent losing her.

Even if it killed him.
