Chapter 5 - Chapter 1 – Marcus Blade (1)

'What the hell is happening?'

Right now, I was completely confused.

Why?

Well, for starters, there is a HUGE woman looking down at me with a creepy smile.

'Or maybe it was not creepy, it seems more like, caring? But that's creepy in itself, after all, I don't know you, lady!!'

The woman in question had long blond hair that flowed down her shoulders like a golden waterfall. Her bright green eyes reminded me of emeralds. Her face had great proportions, a face that alone would make a lot of men fall in love, although she seemed quite tired and full of sweat.

'Did she run a marathon or something? What's with those clothes?'

Her clothes seemed a little too wide for her and reminded one of those hospital thingies that looked like dresses.

I tried to ask her, "Who are you?" but what came out of my mouth was...

"Woog ae yuu?"

Feeling quite surprised at my own words, I tried to make sense of the situation.

"Aww, look at my baby. You are already trying to speak with Mama, huh?" Forcing her tired face to reveal her feelings, the woman showed a smile fully charged with affection.

'HUH?! Who's your baby now?!'

I was honestly creeped out. My mind was running at a ridiculous speed to try and figure out what was happening right now.

'Did I get reincarnated?'

It was that, getting kidnapped by giants or being stuck in a weird role-play session, that he was quite scared of.

'Getting reincarnated sounds so much more pleasant.'

"Ah! I should give you a name, right? What about Marcus?"

'Marcus?'

Kinda convenient having the same name I had in my past life, but I will take it.

Thinking that I had to show some kind of appreciation for the name, I tried letting out a chuckle, which greatly amused my new mother.

"It seems that you like it. Good! Your name is now Marcus Blade!"

'Eh?'

Marcus... Blade?

The Marcus Blade?

Holy Shit!

I had reincarnated into a character from my girlfriend's novel! And not just any character! The fan favorite, Marcus Blade!

Marcus Blade was quite the likeable character for a side character. He was introduced as something like a henchman of the main heroine, who was madly in love with her.

When she fell in love with the protagonist, he sucked it up and gave his best to keep her happy. Giving love advice, enticing the protagonist, and even kidnapping the other heroines so they didn't interrupt their dates. A lot of fans respected him. But that wasn't enough to make him a fan favorite.

There was a certain arc where the protagonist and main heroine had a disagreement, and the relationship had to be given a break. During this time, a meticulous scheme was elaborated to frame her for a crime she did not commit.

The protagonist and his crew couldn't prove her innocent, mostly because they didn't believe her that much, and the protagonist, although he believed her, was still caught up on their fallout to actually help.

This whole madness comes down to an assassination attempt when she was running away from the authorities. Marcus sacrificed his life for her, leaving behind a single declaration and an apology.

What fascinated a lot of readers was his potential. A little closer to the end of the novel, the main crew was searching for a way to increase their power until they found out about cosmic energy that could only be learned from a user of said energy.

Who was the last user of Cosmic Energy? Marcus.

This led some fans to actually believe that Marcus had the potential to be as strong as the Protagonist.

This was something that my girlfriend did not expect, and she was quite frustrated with the thousands of comments asking for an alternative timeline or his own spin-off.

And now I was in his body? Wow! Somehow I feel pressured.

As a fan of Marcus, it would be disastrous if I couldn't fulfill the desire of my comrades.

I will bring Marcus Blade to his full potential.

***************************************************************************************

That's what I thought, but damn, this is hard.

My life as Marcus Blade was not entirely easy.

All of my childhood up until now has been something out of a TV drama. Apparently, my parents don't love each other. That is not that bad in itself, but they are awfully competitive with me.

For real, I think if not for the fact that I was in front of them, they would actually kill each other to take the other out of my life.

My father was the patriarch of the Blade family, a family known for their swordsmen, while my mother belongs to a vassal family of blacksmiths, the Forger family.

Haha, you get it? Forger?

Due to their constant fighting, I ended up going back and forth between the two families, and although I have learned a lot from both, it's quite tiring.

I've been in this mess for three years now, and nothing seems to start to change.

Looking back, I should have been expecting something like that. From the little dialogues there were about Marcus' past, it was heavily hinted that he basically had no childhood, besides the fact that he was forced to learn swordsmanship even though his Profession was more inclined to a mage than a swordsman.

So it was quite obvious that my childhood would be anything but normal.

Anyway, from what I knew, the one who was going to win was probably my father, since the original Marcus was the heir of the Blade family.

'Without a doubt, I would prefer to stay with my mother.'

It was the best decision, both theoretically and emotionally wise.

For starters, I greatly preferred my mother over my father greatly.

I mean, I was only three, but when I spend time with my father, am I supposed to start learning swordsmanship right away? Insane.

Besides that, it was actually much more profitable for me if I stayed in the Forger family, and the proof was right in front of me.

Placed in front of me was a really thick book, on its cover it read, "Diagrams for all types of weapons and armor known to man."

Why was this the proof that the Forger family was the best option over the Blade family?

You see, right now, I'm three years old, once I'm five, it will be time to awaken.

In this world, once you awaken, you are given a Profession. Depending on the profession, you will decide your fighting style, and you will receive a set of skills called Profession skills.

Marcus and I, in the future, will awaken the Cosmic Forger Profession. If I remember correctly, Marcus' Status Window should look something like this.

[

]

Marcus' Cosmic Forge Skill allowed him to forge any type of item, including armor, weapons, clothes, instruments, and other things. The Skill had always been of the SS Rank, from the day he awakened to the day he died. However, due to his poor understanding of smithing and other types of production, he was incapable of forging anything but a sword.

'It's not that bad until you remind yourself that he could only forge two different designs of swords—what a waste of an overpowered skill.'

That is why such a book is a blessing, along with the teachings of the Forger family, I would be able to make full use of the skill.

'But for that, I need to find a way to stick with my mom's family and not with my father's, otherwise I would be stuck learning swordsmanship instead of forging.'

But how?

The Forger family was only a vassal, I don't even know how they kept this struggle going for so long. Either way, sooner or later, the Forger family would falter, and my custody would be fully owned by my father.

If that happens, I will be forced to wait until I get into the Academy to start learning forging. Learning magic was not really needed, as Marcus' Magic stats and magic-related skills rose incredibly quickly. I just hope that is the same for me.

'I really hope that everything goes well.'

And that was how I ended up studying production for two years every time I ended up at my mom's place.
