Moments had passed since Saturn had laid his eyes upon the horror caused by the demon, he took a moment before speaking. "I-I'm okay now… I-I kinda half expected to see something like that after my father informed me of the situation, but it still got to me…"
Toshiko shook her head. "N-No, um… I think we all would've reacted the same way… I mean, Mizuki is…" She pointed at a sulking Mizuki in the corner.
"...M-Mizuki? D-Don't let it get to you… T-There were a lot of demons that invaded the kingdom just now, a-and I don't think many of the places they landed had guards nearby-" Without warning, Mizuki punched the ground.
"B-But, I could have saved him! I-If only I was stronger…!" Saturn looked at the others with a concerned look before glancing at his sword once more.
He sighed before coming to a decision. "...Mizuki, take this. You seem to be able to draw Excalibur's power out when I am unable to, so you deserve it more than I do…"
Mizuki slowly gazed up at Saturn. "B-But… I-I'm a mage, what kind of mage uses a sword?"
"...Do you mind if I butt in? That sword that our king calls "Excalibur"... Is not actually Excalibur, rather it is a magical sword named "Fantastical Nomad". The two swords had similar tales surrounding them though…" Mizuki turned to face the unknown stranger, nearly jumping back in shock.
"W-Who the hell are you?!" The stranger stared at her briefly. "That's not the way to treat the person who's giving you information… Anyways, my name is Rensuke."
Mizuki blinked momentarily. "...Wait. So you're telling me the reason this sword reacted to me earlier was because it is a magical sword and not… Excalibur?"
He nodded his head in response. "Excalibur and this… "Fantastical Nomad" swords have almost identical stories surrounding them… But the real Excalibur I'm pretty sure is in the hands of Takao the Hero."
Mizuki shivered slightly at the mention of the Hero. "...So, he had it…"
"Wait… You know the Hero?" She nodded. "Y-Yes… A lot of things happened, but he… fell in love with me, somehow."
Rensuke blinked before his eyes widened In surprise. "H-Huh!? You… made the Hero like you…? Wait! T-That's not important!" He pointed at a far away building that seemed to resemble a library.
"You need to get over there, as fast as possible! There's a LOT of demons heading toward the library… Probably because someone turned it into an emergency shelter." He told her.
"...That's not good." Noburo stated.
Mizuki pondered for a moment before glancing at her party. "Mai, I need you to come with me to the library. The rest of you need to go help any civilians who didn't find a place to hide…"
Sli-Mai stared at Mizuki briefly. "...Mai?"
"Well… Sli-Mai takes too long to say, so Mai is a fitting nickname. Now come on! We don't have much time according to Rensuke!" Mai nodded and they started to run toward the library.
"...She told us to help civilians, but where do we even start-" Without warning, two consecutive explosions occurred in opposite directions. "O-Oh shit. Noburo! Go that way, we will go handle this time! Come on, Toshiko!" Yoshiro shouted.
"R-Right…!" Noburo ran toward one of the explosions while Toshiko and Yoshiro headed for the one to the east.
Saturn stood still while still taking in the fact that the sword he was raised to wield, wasn't even the sword he thought it was.
Meanwhile…
"R-Run!" Multiple civilians were running away from a demon. "Fools!" He used something that resembled dark magic to shoot what seemed to be black fire at them.
"Lightning Slash!" Noburo ran as fast as he could, and sliced the fire in half. He glanced at the civilians behind him. "Run! Before this guy uses another magic spell similar to the one you just saw!" The civilians nodded before running away.
"Damn it… A swordsman. Why did you get in the middle of my feast…!" The demon shouted before tackling Noburo.
Noburo swung his sword into the demon. "Get off of me, stupid demon!" The demon laughed before throwing Noburo into the air. "Take this, you stupid adventurer!" He flew at Noburo and rammed his fist into Noburo's chest at an inhuman speed.
Noburo gasped in pain as he pointed his sword at the demon, he yelled out. "Waterfall Swirl!"
"...What the hell is a waterfall swirl-" Before the demon could finish his thought, multiple beams of water shot out from the sword at such a speed that it cut the demon into many pieces. Blood splattered across the ground below them as Noburo used a wind sword skill to land safely.
He sighed. "O-Ow… God damn it, who throws someone in the air during a fight?" Noburo looked at the damage caused by the demon. "...I better make sure everyone in this area is safe…"
At the same time…
Mizuki stopped in front of the library, she opened the doors which revealed a bunch of people hiding in the center. "Y-You do realize, that if you all gather in one place it will only attract demons right!?" She questioned.
One of them got up and walked toward her. "B-But, we had nowhere else to go!" She shouted at her. Mizuki glared at her slightly before sighing. "...Forget it, just hide in the corner maybe, not the center of the room-"
CRASH!!!
Several demons landed outside the library, one seemed to be the leader of the demons due to his different appearance compared to the others.
"Kekeke… Alright, you underlings go kill the humans in that library just like we discussed on the way here!"
Mizuki carefully looked outside, gripping her new sword tightly. "...I'm not letting you kill anyone this time." She told herself while holding a bottle that contained Mai's slime.
8 minutes ago… on the way to the library.
"M-Mizuki! U-Um… I have an idea if things get too chaotic over there." Mai told her.
"W-What's your idea then…?" Mizuki asked as she slowed down to listen. "I-If things get too chaotic, I will turn back into a slime and go inside this bottle… A-And then, I want you to throw it at whatever danger you see… I-Is that okay with you?"
Mizuki considered it for a moment before nodding. "I… Don't like the idea of putting you in danger, but in that scenario we wouldn't have much of a choice…
She gripped the bottle before looking outside again. "Here goes nothing… Slime Surprise!" She shouted as she threw the bottle at the demons beside the leader.
