Chapter 82 - Chapter 82: Imminent Clash

Just as Tsunade was reuniting with her future children, Jiraiya wandered over, completely by chance, and happened to overhear part of their conversation.

He was instantly dumbfounded, staring in utter shock!

Jiraiya looked at the heartwarming scene of Tsunade with Arata and Yuna laughing together, then turned to Orochimaru and said.

"Hey, snake-face, do you think it's actually possible for people to travel through time?"

Although Orochimaru had been just as shocked at first, he quickly accepted the reality.

In response to Jiraiya's question, Orochimaru answered seriously, "The evidence is right in front of me. Why wouldn't I believe it? People are still bound by their own understanding.

But facts are facts, if it exists, it makes sense. If we refuse to accept what's already been placed before our eyes, that just shows how narrow-minded we still are."

Jiraiya wanted to argue. "But what if what you believe to be a fact… isn't actually true?"

In the end, he didn't say it aloud. That kind of debate was pointless anyway. Besides, he did agree with Orochimaru's earlier statement.

"People are bound by their own understanding."

At that moment, Yuna noticed Jiraiya and Orochimaru whispering off to the side and cheerfully called out to them, "Toad-uncle! Uncle Orochimaru! Hi there!"

Arata smiled warmly and added, "Uncle Jiraiya, Uncle Orochimaru, it's been a while!"

Hearing themselves called "uncle" made both Jiraiya and Orochimaru a little dazed, it all felt unreal. So… they were already "uncles" by that point in time?

Jiraiya eagerly stepped forward, smiling from ear to ear. "Hey, Arata, Yuna, why don't you tell Uncle Jiraiya how he does in the future?"

Tsunade and Orochimaru leaned in, listening intently to hear what these children had to say about the world to come.

Arata thought for a moment before saying, "Uncle Jiraiya, in the future, you publish a whole series of really popular books.

Your name is famous not just in the village, but all across the ninja world! And you have a great eye for talent, your student becomes one of the village's top geniuses!"

Jiraiya immediately burst into joyful laughter, patting Arata on the shoulder with pride. "Oh, Arata, you're saying your Uncle Jiraiya is that amazing, huh?"

Arata nodded earnestly. "It's true! You've got a lot of fans! See that silver-haired kid over there with the short sword on his back?

That's Hatake Kakashi, he's one of your fans! You know his father, Hatake Sakumo, one of your classmates from the old days!"

Jiraiya followed his finger and spotted the boy named Kakashi. Instantly, memories of the past came rushing back.

He couldn't help but muse inwardly, Sakumo, that icy block, actually got married? Poor girl, whoever fell for him… But if his kid's a fan of mine, that just proves how amazing I am!

With that thought, Jiraiya began fantasizing about how he'd become a legend in the future, shaking the entire ninja world.

Nearby, Yuna leaned close to Tsunade and whispered, "Mother, it's true that the three of you have big names in the future… but my brother's just like Father, he's a softie who only ever says the nice parts."

Tsunade's interest was piqued, and she signaled with her eyes for Yuna to continue.

Orochimaru, meanwhile, noticed Tsunade and her daughter whispering about that fool Jiraiya and, with curiosity, silently cast a small jutsu to eavesdrop.

Yuna continued, "Toad-uncle's books are popular in the ninja world, but they're all rated 18+! You and Father always forbid us from reading them!"

At that, Tsunade instantly gave a disdainful snort. "I knew that idiot Jiraiya couldn't possibly write anything proper!"

Even Orochimaru gave a subtle nod of agreement.

Yuna went on, "But Toad-uncle does have a really amazing student. See? That golden-haired Jonin over there talking to Aunt Kushina? That's Namikaze Minato.

He's the third person in the village to master the Flying Thunder God Technique!

But his personality is nothing like Toad-uncle's. Aunt Kushina always calls him the 'Pervy Sage' and was terrified he'd be a bad influence on Minato-sensei!"

At that, Tsunade couldn't hold back and burst out laughing, while Orochimaru's lips curved into a sly smirk.

Seeing Yuna's confusion, Tsunade explained with a chuckle.

"Before we came here, your Toad-uncle kept yelling about how he needed a flashy nickname, said that once he was famous across the ninja world, he wanted a name with real presence.

But your Uncle Orochimaru beat him to it and declared, on the spot, that his title would be the 'Pervy Sage!' Who knew it would actually catch on!"

Yuna burst out laughing, completely overjoyed.

She had often heard her mother talk about her two eccentric teammates, so it wasn't hard for her to imagine Toad-uncle's furious, embarrassed reaction back then.

Hearing Yuna's laughter, Jiraiya turned around and asked curiously, "What's so funny?"

Yuna, who had just been tattling on him, suddenly felt guilty and nervously shook her head.

"N-nothing, Uncle. You actually looked really cool when you were younger. That hairstyle was… pretty unique, definitely stylish!"

She had almost blurted out "Pervy Uncle" but quickly caught herself and covered it with a compliment!

This made Tsunade and Orochimaru laugh even harder.

Jiraiya's hair wasn't unique at all, in fact, not long ago, he'd been ambushed by Kakuzu, and his hair was accidentally scorched beyond repair.

He had no choice but to shave it all off, and what they were seeing now was just stubble growing back.

Too embarrassed to admit he'd been sneak-attacked, Jiraiya awkwardly played along. "Well, you know… as an artist, I like to stand out a little!"

At that moment, Minato led Kushina over to join them.

Jiraiya was the person Minato felt closest to after arriving in this time. He'd wanted to rush over the moment he saw his teacher from afar, but hadn't dared approach too boldly.

Now that Yuna had broken the ice, it felt like the perfect moment to formally introduce himself.

Minato beamed. "Jiraiya-sensei! I'm Namikaze Minato, your future student! And this is Kushina, my girlfriend!"

Kushina blushed at his introduction.

Jiraiya perked up with interest, examining his future student and his girlfriend.

Even though he was currently a few years younger than the two of them, he immediately had a good impression. They really did look like a great match.

He clapped the taller young man on the shoulder and said warmly, "This must be fate!"

Then he turned to Orochimaru. "Hey, snake-face, what do you think of my future student?"

Orochimaru studied Minato carefully and nodded.

From what he'd just heard, this young man was clearly extraordinary. Orochimaru couldn't help but think, That idiot Jiraiya actually got lucky for once.

Meanwhile, Kushina was also quietly observing Jiraiya. Even though she'd known him well in the future, this version of him still felt unfamiliar.

She casually said, "Jiraiya-sensei looked pretty sharp when he was young, huh? How'd you end up turning into the Pervy Sage?

In the future, you're always peeking into the women's bathhouse and using 'research' as your excuse!"

The moment she said that, the whole group fell silent, then burst out laughing.

Jiraiya awkwardly replied, "Well, I do write books in the future. An author has to do research, right? I can't just make everything up! Right, Arata?"

Kushina quickly interjected, "Jiraiya-sensei, please don't corrupt Arata! Your books are 18+, totally inappropriate for kids!"

Off to the side, Kakashi instinctively reached for his ninja pouch, a faint blush spreading across his face. Luckily, his mask covered it, otherwise, everyone would have noticed!

But Obito, standing nearby, immediately picked up on the change.

"Kakashi, what's wrong? Are you sick? Your face is all red. Want me to get Rin?"

Kakashi quickly waved him off. "No! I'm… just full of energy!"

Jiraiya noticed Kakashi and thought, 'Ah, a kindred spirit! Kid, you've got potential.'

He gave Kakashi a firm nod and mouthed, I believe in you.

Kakashi quickly looked away, turning toward Rin to avoid further embarrassment.

It was the first time Rin had seen Kakashi look so shy, especially while looking at her! Her heart skipped a beat.

Obito noticed Kakashi's ears had turned red, too, and said to Rin, "Hey, Rin, does Kakashi look sick to you?"

Girls are usually more perceptive than boys. Rin had noticed Kakashi's odd behavior long ago, but she wasn't exactly composed herself.

Obito saw her blushing too and grew concerned. Is this a fever? Or… wait, could this be a contagious illness?

Just as he was about to report this to Minato, Rin stopped him.

"It's just really hot today. Can't you feel it?"

Obito suddenly smacked his hands together in realization. "See? I told you that mask was a problem!

Look at him, he's overheating so much his ears are turning red! Rin, make sure you drink plenty of water, too!"

Jiraiya, having awkwardly stepped aside earlier, happened to overhear this little drama between his fanboy and the two teammates.

He patted Obito on the shoulder and consoled him, "Kid, don't take it too hard. Let me rework something that snake-face said, if there were a textbook case for heartbreak, you'd be the perfect example!"

Obito, ever the scatterbrain, was completely baffled by Jiraiya's cryptic comment.

But Rin heard it clearly, and a storm of complicated emotions welled up inside her.

While Tsunade and the others were still chatting, Kinkaku had long since run out of patience.

Seeing all the targets gathered in one place, he turned to temporary leader Hanzo and growled irritably, "Aren't we starting yet? What, watching family reunions made you soft or something?"

Hanzo didn't respond. Instead, he stepped forward to the front of his formation and called out in a loud voice.

"Third Hokage, I've come under orders. If I offend, please don't hold it against the Land of Rain!"

Arima's clone looked at Hanzo and nodded. "You've got some spine. Don't worry, war is war, and I don't take it out on civilians."

Relieved, Hanzo nodded respectfully. "You have my thanks. As a warrior, I'd hoped to challenge you directly, but it seems your real body isn't here.

Still, I hope you'll fight me seriously, or your subordinates are in for a rough time!"

The clone's eyes narrowed slightly. So Hanzo is a capable one, firm but diplomatic. He's someone worth keeping an eye on.

He turned to Tsunade.

"Tsunade, the reunion will have to wait. The real me is probably in serious trouble right now. You, Orochimaru, and Jiraiya stay here and protect Yuna, Arata, and the other kids.

I'll try to deal with Hanzo and Kinkaku. Also, keep an eye on the Three Kage, make sure they don't try anything sneaky."

With that, the clone disappeared in a flash, launching directly into battle with Hanzo and Kinkaku.

The Three Kage still didn't know that Arima's real body was facing a powerful enemy elsewhere, they thought he had just temporarily left the battlefield.

Because of that, they didn't dare make any sudden moves or turn their blades toward him.

Though injured, they still had plenty of strength left. Fighting an elite Jonin squad wouldn't be a problem.

But with so many ninja to look after on their side, they chose to wait and watch for now, avoiding getting involved either way.

As Arima's clone led the charge, the rest of the team leapt down from their giant hawks and dove into the fray.

Arima's clone took on both Hanzo and Kinkaku. Tsunade, Orochimaru, and Jiraiya formed a defensive triangle around the six children, ready to intercept any ambushes.

Minato engaged Kakuzu, while Kushina fought Hanzo's assistant. All around them, the others found their own opponents.

Now it was warrior vs. warrior, general vs. general.

Blow after blow, the battle escalated into a full-blown inferno.
