Ethan grabbed the glasses-wearing young man's collar and stared into his eyes, questioning, "Are you sure that the fiercest ones among those creatures outside are only at the War General level?"
The young man with glasses looked unsatisfied at Ethan, adjusted his glasses on the bridge of his nose, and his tone was full of disdain, "Are you questioning the accuracy of my S-class abilities? I can assure you, my abilities will never be wrong.
The strongest mutated beast outside is only a War General level at most. Furthermore, around this railway, are our human military bases, each base has a War King level powerhouse in place.
If a War King level creature appears, those big shots can sense it in a minute, got it, country bumpkin?"
After finishing speaking, the glasses-wearing young man looked at Ethan with a "you're such a bumpkin" kind of gaze. "That makes things easier..."
After a moment of contemplation, without saying a word, Ethan pulled the carriage door open and jumped out with a flip of his body.
The glasses-wearing young man and the always quiet like a chicken Clara Song were both astonished, watching this scene dumbfounded.
"Everyone, please remain calm! The more perilous the situation, the more we mustn't fall into chaos!"
"The most important thing now is to stay calm, and to stay put inside this carriage. The idea of sneaking away by oneself is the utmost foolishness! Doing so will just expedite your death!"
"In that manner, it would trouble our soldiers engaged in combat, and would incite panic amongst us all."
The spunky short-haired gal who'd been waiting at the Sterling City train station with Ethan stood forward, her tone filled with concern.
Listening to her, the atmosphere around them eased significantly, and the carriage was once again filled with tranquility.
"I saw someone sneaking off just now," the bespectacled lad suddenly blurted.
Everyone else was stunned, gazing around at each other.
"Who was it?" the short-haired gal hurriedly asked.
"Not entirely sure, but he was sitting right over there."
The bespectacled lad pointed toward the vacant seat that was previously Ethan's.
"Darn it, it was that Ethan!"
The short-haired gal frowned, her face overflowing with disgust.
"He's just a deserter!"
Once she said this, the atmosphere within the carriage ignited. Many people seemed rejuvenated, nodding one after another.
"We are the special recruits of the Apex Academy! No matter what, we can't disgrace our school!"
"Yeah, right! So what if the mutated beasts arrive? We all have S-rank genes. Even if we bet our lives, we'd take down a War General-ranked beast with us!"
"We'd rather die a dramatic death! Whoever dares to flee from the battle, I won't stand for it!"
The atmosphere in the carriage was boiling instantly. Everyone was shouting passionately, each word another bold slogan.
At this moment, Ethan had quietly slipped away from the carriage. He planned to find a place where the mutated beasts were less densely packed, to have a few one-on-one fights.
For others, mutated beasts are as terrifying as plagues.
But for Ethan, those are simply walking promotion points!
He'd calculated before that a Warrior-level beast could provide at most a hundred evolution points.
As for the War General-level, he hadn't defeated any yet, so he wasn't sure.
Currently, his Black Steel Battle Body Gene's awakening level is barely reaching 5 out of 10.
Ethan itched to max out his awakening level as soon as possible, wondering if there might be any surprises.
If the Black Steel Battle Body Gene evolves further, would it turn into some miraculous skills like the Dragon-Tiger Vajra? Just as Ethan was focusing his mind, preparing for a big fight, a mechanical voice suddenly sounded in his mind:
"Ding! Host automatically triggers a system mission!"
"Mission Announcement!"
"Mission Requirement: The host must repel the beast tide within thirty minutes, while protecting the participating dungeon troops. Remember, the fewer the number of warrior deaths, the higher the mission completion rate will be!"
The system's prompt resounded in Ethan's ears, causing him to pause.
Originally, he just wanted to lowkey eliminate a few armored rhinoceroses and be done.
But what kind of nonsense was the system playing at?
How could he save people by rushing in and remain low-profile? Ethan couldn't help but shake his head and pulled out a Sky-Cleaving Great Axe from his system backpack.
"Dude, where did you get this ax from?"
A guard on the train looked at Ethan with a bewildered face.
Ethan solemnly said, "This is a divine artifact given to me by Sister Valeria Thorne; she wants me to go into battle, kill enemies and bring honor to our country!"
"Valeria Thorne?!"
The guard was instantly shocked. Valeria Thorne was the legendary God!
By the time the guard came back to his senses, Ethan had already slipped away stealthily.
"Holy sh*t! Come back here! You can't go out there! Oliver and the rest, stop him!"
The guard was so anxious that he was hopping mad. Upon hearing the noise, the other guards immediately encased Ethan.
However, Ethan slightly bent his legs and leapt powerfully. His whole body soared into the air, jumping up three to four meters, and he landed stably outside the trench.
A group of guards: ???
A bunch of soldiers: (*_*)
At this critical moment, the three laser cannons on the top of the third carriage finally started up.
With a humming sound, three blue lasers as thick as an adult's waist burst out into the air instantly!
Boom! An ear-piercing explosion followed.
As the laser swept across, over a dozen armored rhinoceroses were instantly torn apart, with flesh and blood flying around. The scene was too gruesome to bear.
