“Liar…”
Liliette gritted her teeth, lying on the makeshift bed in the office’s spare bedroom, her body aching once again. Though she hadn’t lost consciousness this time, the night had been relentless, far more intense than any mindless coupling she had previously experienced. As she remembered how she had clung to him until dawn, weeping, the memories made her pull the blanket over her face in embarrassment. She remembered every plea she had whispered, each one unanswered. He hadn’t even climaxed inside her; this time, it had been solely for her pleasure.
“And then he just leaves a note. What am I supposed to make of this?” she muttered, reaching for the fluffy goose feather pillow beside her. Her fingers brushed against a small piece of paper, creased from being read and discarded countless times. It was another letter from Vlad.

I have duties to attend to, so I left early. I’ll return to the castle by evening. A maid will bring some clothes around two.
