Chapter 472 - Chapter 472: Frog Team 2

One month later.

Mirai Uchiha and Konan arrived at Amegakure together.

The place where Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan used to live was now a luxurious villa district.

The roads were wide, birds sang, flowers bloomed, and all kinds of facilities were available.

It was nothing like the gloomy wasteland drenched in endless rain that it used to be.

At the farthest corner of the villa district stood a small wooden hut that looked out of place.

For hundreds of meters around the hut, wooden fences enclosed the area, and the ground was covered not with asphalt or concrete, but with grass growing on soft earth.

"We're here."

Looking at the familiar wooden hut before her, Konan's eyes revealed a trace of nostalgia.

Now that Amegakure had fallen under Konoha's jurisdiction, when this area was renovated, Minato Namikaze had specially preserved this spot.

The two approached the hut and knocked on the door, but received no response.

Mirai and Konan exchanged glances before pushing the door open and stepping inside.

Inside the hut was extremely simple—apart from several chairs and a single table, there were only two wooden beds.

"Strange, why are there two beds?"

Mirai muttered, noticing that Konan was standing motionless in front of a wooden platform near the wall.

Mirai walked over and saw four wooden plaques arranged on the platform.

Each plaque had a carving of a comically large green frog.

Under each frog carving, names were written from left to right: Jiraiya, Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan.

Konan gently touched the plaque above her name and flipped it over.

The back side of each frog plaque had been painted red.

"Back then, the three of us were taken in by Master Jiraiya, and we trained here under him in ninjutsu."

"To practice surveillance and counter-surveillance techniques, Master Jiraiya made these four plaques."

"The plaques have two sides—one displaying a frog, the other a solid red back."

"A frog side means you've gone out. Red means you've returned home."

"If a plaque shows red but its owner isn't in the room, it means something has happened to that person..."

Konan said slowly, more lost in memory than explaining to Mirai.

Just then, footsteps echoed from outside the door.

With a creaking sound, the wooden door pushed open, revealing two figures stepping inside.

"Lord Mirai?"

"Konan?"

Nagato's eyes widened in surprise.

Mirai and Konan hadn't told him they were coming, so he was taken aback to see them.

Mirai's lips twitched slightly.

Nagato stood beside a puppet that felt very familiar—

Yahiko.

Just now, he had wondered why Nagato would prepare two beds if he lived here alone. So it turned out he was sharing the place with Yahiko...

Now that he thought about it, this did seem like something Nagato would do.

When Konan saw Nagato and Yahiko together, her expression became slightly dazed.

Memories of those days—when they relied on each other for survival—flooded back in waves.

"Mirai, Konan, why didn't you two tell me beforehand that you were coming? I could have prepared better."

As he spoke, Nagato flipped over the wooden plaque representing himself, along with Yahiko's.

Then he explained awkwardly: "Yahiko's original dream was to bring true peace to the ninja world. I swore that I'd make sure he would see that moment when he passed away."

"And since it got too boring living alone, I just decided to live together with Yahiko."

Watching Nagato speak so cheerfully, Mirai Uchiha couldn't help but feel moved.

It seemed his earlier decision had been the right one.

Nagato not only talked more now, but also wore a smile on his face again.

He must have been living quite well these past months.

"Oh right!"

After making Yahiko sit down, Nagato suddenly slapped his own forehead.

"Konan, Master Jiraiya visited here before!"

Upon hearing that, Konan looked surprised and blurted out: "When? You actually saw Master Jiraiya?"

"Not exactly," Nagato shook his head. "About a month ago when I came back, I noticed that Master Jiraiya's wooden plaque had been flipped over."

"Other than us, no one else should know what these plaques mean, so it must've been Master Jiraiya who came here."

After hearing Nagato's explanation, Konan smiled.

It seemed that not only had they not forgotten their teacher, their teacher hadn't forgotten them either.

But...

Was Master Jiraiya still alive?

If possible, she really wished to go on another mission once again—under the name of the Frog Team.

Standing nearby and watching Konan and Nagato reminiscing about old times, Mirai spoke up: "Nagato, Konan, would you like to talk to Yahiko directly?"

"Eh?!"

Both Nagato and Konan were stunned: "Mirai, what exactly do you mean?"

Mirai Uchiha smiled slightly: "Exactly as it sounds."

With that, he focused inwardly.

[Impure World Reincarnation Jutsu!]

In an instant, Yahiko was summoned through Mirai's Impure World Reincarnation.

"Nagato? Konan?"

"Mirai Uchiha?!"

"This is our old house... What in the world is going on? Didn't I die?"

Seeing Yahiko's puzzled expression, Nagato excitedly said, "Yahiko, our dream has finally come true!"

"What dream?"

"Peace across the ninja world!"

"Huh?!"

Under Yahiko's shocked gaze, Nagato and Konan recounted everything that had happened after his death.

They kept talking until late at night before finally stopping, still feeling somewhat incomplete.

Yahiko's mouth hung open in disbelief—it felt like he was listening to a fairy tale.

Uniting the ninja world and establishing a divine nation, Black Zetsu's mission to save his mother, and the Otsutsuki clan...

It was simply beyond comprehension!

"Yahiko, let Mirai use genjutsu so you can witness it yourself, and then you'll understand everything."

After Konan finished speaking, she gave Mirai Uchiha a meaningful glance.

Mirai Uchiha then used "Tsukiyo-himuka" to let Yahiko experience those past years as if watching a movie within the illusion world.

Moments later, Yahiko snapped back into reality, tears streaming down both cheeks.

As someone who had always believed in peace, actually seeing it come true filled him with unimaginable joy.

The entire night passed without sleep.

The three old friends, who hadn't been together in ages, ended up talking straight through until dawn.

Only when the sun rose did the excitement on Yahiko's face slowly fade.

Taking the opportunity, Konan asked, "Yahiko, would you like to live in this new world together with Nagato?"

"If you're willing, Mirai will definitely agree to bring you back to life."

Yahiko laughed heartily. "Forget about resurrection—I've already died once. Just being able to witness my dream coming true is extremely fortunate."

"Konan, from now on, live your life happily with Mirai. You two went through so much hardship when you were younger—you deserve to be happy from now on."

"As for Nagato..." Yahiko looked at Pain—the body made from his own remains—and smiled. "Let my body always stay by your side. Don't carry any psychological burden about it."

"Come on, take me and show me the new ninja world."

"Okay!"

Nagato nodded firmly, then took Yahiko and strode toward the door.

Watching them walk away, Konan couldn't help but smile warmly.

"Darling, thank you."

"You idiot, why are you being so formal with me? Hurry up and catch up—they've already gone too far..."
