Chapter 240 - 240: What If I Do?

Right now, Yusuke was strong, so incredibly strong. If he were to fight Sirzechs at this very moment, perhaps he would be the one who came out victorious.

A group of Ultimate Class human mages was nothing in his eyes. He could reduce them to ashes with a single attack.

But where was the fun in that?

"Monster!"

"He killed him! He killed him!!!"

"Run! Run!!!"

The four remaining mages reacted like Asian kids running away from their mothers after bringing home an A- grade.

Without any hesitation, they all picked random directions and fled.

Yusuke chuckled. He lightly swayed, and in the next instant, he was standing behind one of the fleeing mages. Grabbing the black robed figure by the shoulder, he casually yanked.

Pufft!

As though it had been made of a fragile, expired biscuit, the man's shoulder was torn cleanly from its socket. Blood sprayed out like a small waterfall.

Yusuke held the arm and shoulder in one hand. Then he clenched his fingers, and the severed limb exploded into a shower of flesh and blood.

"Agh!!! Haaaaaa! My arm! My shoulder!!!" The mage's hood fell away, revealing a face twisted by agony.

Clutching the bloody stump where his shoulder used to be, he roared in pain. Tears streamed from his eyes as they gradually turned bloodshot.

The poor mage had arrived in Kuoh Town full of confidence to assassinate Griselda.

He had expected that his team might run into some trouble. However, they had always been confident that as long as their opponents weren't Satans or the leaders of the other factions, they could easily escape.

Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined that he would encounter someone even scarier and crazier than they were.

He glared at Yusuke with pure hatred and growled, "You crazy bastard! Even if I die, I'll take you with me!!!"

A magic circle lit up beneath the man.

With a ruthless expression, he lunged forward and tried to grab Yusuke with his remaining arm. Dense magical energy began erupting from the desperate terrorist.

He already knew that his death was certain.

It was obvious that begging for mercy from this ruthless madman would be pointless. Rather than die helplessly, he would use his own life to drag Yusuke down with him.

At the very least, people would remember him as someone who had died valiantly while fighting a powerful enemy.

"Stupid old man." Yusuke casually slapped the incoming hand aside before grabbing it.

Then he repeated the same motion.

Crack!

With a brutal yank, he tore the man's remaining arm from his body, "Acting all tough when you're as fragile as an ant."

Pa!

"I can squash you with a single finger." Holding the severed arm, Yusuke casually used the detached hand to slap the man across the face.

Pa!

Pa!

Pa!

"Why are you slapping yourself? Did you go insane from fear?"

"How... how dare you! Don't insult me!!!" The man roared.

The magic circle beneath him blazed with intense light as he poured all of his magic power into it. The glow grew brighter and brighter until it reached its peak. Despite losing both his arms, the mage grinned.

He was already picturing the look of despair on this monster's face.

But less than a second later, his smile froze, "Wait, w-what?"

The explosion never came!

Why wasn't his magic working?

"Pathetic, your face is funny. Alright, you can go on your way."

Yusuke tossed the severed arm aside. Picking at his ear with his pinky, he stared at the fearful, desperate mage with a dismissive glance.

Then he casually swung the back of his hand.

The instant it connected with the man's face, his head was violently torn from his neck and sent flying into the distance. It spun through the air before crashing to the ground.

A bloody fountain erupted from the headless corpse, spraying the surroundings red.

"I feel a lot better now." Yusuke tilted his head. The anger from earlier had faded by a large degree. Taking a step forward, he instantly appeared in front of another fleeing mage.

"Why aren't you running? Your partner sacrificed his life to buy you time, you know." He tilted his head slightly and smiled, "How ungrateful."

"Eugnnn! Eugnnn!" The man struggled to move, but he couldn't move even an inch. He tried to open his mouth, yet only muffled sounds came out.

He was completely frozen in place! Only his terrified, trembling eyes could still move; a strange and powerful force had bound him where he stood.

"Speak clearly, I don't speak stupid people's language." Yusuke placed a hand on top of the man's head.

Fire erupted from his palm and quickly engulfed the man's entire body.

When Yusuke removed his hand, nothing remained except a small pile of ash that slowly drifted apart in the wind.

[Since when did you leave the ranks of stupid people? Aren't you the one who keeps screwing up because of your own stupidity?] B2 replied sarcastically.

'That was the old me. People change. Not that someone like you would understand. No wonder you've never gotten an update at all,' Yusuke replied casually.

He pointed at the two remaining men, who were still held in place by Telekinesis.

Two small spheres of the Power of Destruction shot forward.

The dark crimson orbs pierced straight through the men's heads, killing them instantly.

[Ignorant fool! I am the apex of existence! Only inferior, man made systems need updates!] B2 replied in a loud, contemptuous tone, as though she were looking down on his ignorance.

Yusuke could almost picture her crossing her arms, lifting her chin high, and staring down at him with disdain.

'Oh? Tell me more.' Yusuke's interest was piqued.

[Hmph! No!] After saying that, B2 fell completely silent.

When Yusuke landed on the ground, he activated a cleaning spell to remove the blood that had sprayed onto him, but Griselda rushed over and interrupted him.

"Yusuke-kun!"

Griselda looked at him and took in his current appearance.

His clothes were stained with blood, and traces of it remained on his left cheek. Combined with his calm expression, he looked like a serial killer who had just finished dismantling his victim.

Yusuke calmly stared back at her. One of the reasons he had killed the five terrorists so brutally, aside from venting his anger, was so Griselda could watch. He was deliberately showing her how cruel and brutal he could be as a clear warning.

Of course, Yusuke was 99% certain that even if he displayed ten times more cruelty than this, it still wouldn't stop her if she ever decided to pull some yandere bullshit. Assuming she even had such a plan in the first place.

"Are you going to answer my question?"

Griselda's entire attention was locked onto Yusuke. She did not care at all about what happened to the terrorists, nor that their goal had been to kill her. The only thing occupying her mind was the question she had asked him earlier, "Do you like me?"

'Well, she's finally getting her shit together.' Honestly, Griselda was far more timid than Irina and Xenovia. She had been beating around the bush for so long. Compared to her, the other two church girls had confessed their love to him the moment they met him. Hell, one of them had even proposed to him right away.

Dealing with so many yanderes one after another in such a short period had twisted Yusuke's standards so badly that what he considered normal had become completely warped.

"What if I do?" Yusuke answered vaguely, keeping his expression calm and unreadable.

'What is wrong with her? Did her brain finally fry?' He waited for some kind of reaction, but nothing came.

"..."

Griselda stood completely frozen, like a stiff statue. It wasn't just her body that had shut down. Her mind had gone entirely blank. Every thought and every worry she ever vanished in an instant. Only one sentence remained, repeating endlessly inside her head like a broken record, growing louder and more overwhelming with each loop.

"I love you, Griselda."

"I love you, Griselda."

"I love you, Griselda."

"I love you, Griselda."

The words flooded her entire being, drowning everything else until her mind could no longer function. Her heart slammed violently in her chest as if it wanted to burst out. Her breathing stopped, and her vision became blurry.

All she could hear was that single sentence echoing louder and louder.

Yusuke had said he liked her!

He loved her!

Just as always, yanderes had an incredible talent for twisting the words of the person they loved.

If she had been speaking with anyone else, Griselda would have instantly noticed the loophole in Yusuke's answer. He had said, "What if I do?" not "I do."

Unfortunately, when it came to matters involving their beloved, yanderes tended to abandon logic entirely. They ignored the parts they didn't like, overlooked the details that contradicted their desires, and interpreted everything in whatever way made them happiest.

As far as Griselda was concerned, there was only one possible meaning behind Yusuke's words.

Yusuke loved her.

The case was closed.

Any evidence to the contrary would be immediately rejected by her brain before it could even be considered.
