Chapter 4 - Chapter Four

The Baby

Isabella's POV

A month and some weeks later.

After finding out the real truth that my parents had actually intentionally sold me off to Gabriel in order to settle the debt they owed him, my goal changed. I realized that I had lived the past five years trying to avenge their death when they did not even deserve any of my efforts. They were selfish, self centered and inconsiderate to have sold me just like that, without my own consent. I was just eighteen, what were they thinking that time?

I was forced to accept my fate as it was, I was forced into a loveless marriage with the dangerous Gabriel Santos and there was never a mention of how long the contract would last so I had no idea how long I was going to be his captive wife but all I knew was that I would have to bear the consequences of my parents' action for only God knew how long.

Although I had surprisingly picked up a new goal and that was to find my brother. I knew he was somewhere around here. I just had to find out where exactly the other prisoners were kept. I had searched the entire mansion and there was not a single locked door around here, I had searched every room in the mansion and there was no sign of prisoners which meant Gabriel never kept his prisoners around him.

As for Gabriel, it was like he just wanted to become some kind of prize to him. He never treated me like his wife or anything at all, Gabriel barely spoke to me asides barking orders, he never let me out of the mansion either and lastly he never allowed me escort him anywhere like a wife would do to her husband. I was not performing any wife duties too, the maids did basically everything. I was just there, I bet to him it was not like I even existed, my presence had no impact on Gabriel and neither did my absence.

For the first week here in the mansion, I thought I would never make it past another week but I was surprised when I suddenly began to get familiar with all the workers around here. Sandra was sweet and Alessandro of all people who I had expected to be very nonchalant since he was Gabriel's right hand man, turned out to be the complete opposite.

Alessandro was kind to me, he made me feel at home a lot more often and the nicest part of it all was that we both shared a keen interest in painting. Fortunately for us, there was a painting room in the mansion, that was where I spent most of my time, with Alessandro. I barely knew much about him, asides the fact that he had been serving Gabriel since he was a child. Apparently Alessandro had explained to me that he was once a prisoner like me until he had to become Gabriel's boy for the sake of survival.

Alessandro told me that Gabriel's prisoners were given a choice six months later to either join bis gang or he would kill them. It made me wonder what path my brother had chosen since it had been approximately two years now.

"What are you thinking about Princess?" A familiar deep voice startled me. I turned around to gaze at the culprit, it was Alessandro walking towards me. He was dressed in a causal wear. Alessandro was the one to escort me to the hospital today.

The truth was that I had been experiencing some really weird signs and i feared for myself that I might be secretly dying from something. Maybe that was Gabriel's plan all along, to poison me. Anyways, he had agreed to let me out of the mansion only if Alessandro happened to be the driver.

"Relax, are you that afraid of hospitals? You are a doctor, remember?" Alessandro's voice jolted me out of my thoughts and back to reality. I turned my head to the right and gazed at him with a raised brow. "Being doctor does not exactly mean I am immune to sickness okay? And yes, I am afraid of hospitals when I happen to be the patient." I ranted.

Alessandro rolled his eyes at me. "I can assure you that nothing is wrong with you. Maybe just some good poisoning here and there but trust me, you will be fine." Alessandro said with a slight shrug. My eyes widened in shock at how causal he made food poisoning look like. "You do realize I could die over just food poisoning?" I snapped at him, empahsizing my words.

Alessandro sighed heavily and snatched me by the wrist. "Drama queen." He shook his head at me. He led me out of the mansion and i walked into the black jeep. The window's glass was painted black so i knew there would not be any sight seeing to do. I just sat at the back seat and drowned myself in my own thoughts that i had not realized when Alessandro had started the car.

The drive to the hospital was quick. The doctor had come over to the mansion a week ago to take all possible tests and today i was going to come for the results. Our appointment with doctor was scheduled so we made our straight to the office.

The doctor gestured us to sit and questioned me if I was okay with having Alessandro around while listening to my results. I saw no reason to ask Alessandro to leave, i and Alessandro had established a sense of trust and not to mention, what was so difficult that it could not be said in front of Alessandro?

"Okay, I have conducted a few tests and the most important result shows that you are carrying the baby of Mr Gabriel Santos, congratulations!"

What? I was pregnant? Not for just anyone but for someone as dangerous as Gabriel?

I was not going to raise a child in that despicable place! Not even if it meant risking my life!
