Chapter 20 - "The Last Stand of Golden Flame."

"Nothing is impossible? Don't make me laugh. Your strength isn't even one ten-thousandth of our Lord's. How the hell do you think you can stand against us, who've been blessed by his power?"

A massive fireball shaped like a dragon's breath shot forward. Ator's voice echoed beside him, but he didn't even glance that way. He just raised his chin and scoffed.

"What a joke!"

Chi Yan sneered coldly, like he was mocking Ator's entire existence. He waved his claw, and the flame he threw out just now instantly vanished, replaced by a thick black mist. It was so dark that it swallowed all light.

"Perish!"

With a furious roar, Chi Yan's aura exploded. He slashed through the sky with one claw, tearing that huge fireball into five burning pieces.

Then he stepped forward, walking right through the sky still blazing with fire, and calmly arrived in front of the massive army of demonic dragon followers.

"This is…"

The moment Chi Yan truly saw the full size of these dragons, his eyes widened in shock.

If it were just one, he wouldn't have been afraid.

But standing before him now, soaring through the sky, were over fifty winged demon dragons. And their auras? Each one was nearly as powerful as he was—the lord of a city. Some of them could probably beat him in a one-on-one.

Right then and there, Chi Yan finally realized that everything Huo Yuan (his old bro) had warned him about… was true.

The power of the Demon Lord wasn't just talk. His followers alone were strong enough to beat him.

If even the followers could overpower him, what would happen if the Fire Lord himself showed up? He'd probably be crushed in a single hit.

Thinking that, Chi Yan glanced back at his mighty Golden Flame City. For the first time, he felt like it was a burden too heavy to carry.

He looked down at the battlefield below, where the demon armies had already started tearing into each other. His side—the army of Golden Flame City—had the upper hand and would definitely win if things continued.

But those flying demon dragons high up in the sky hadn't made a single move yet. They just silently watched the Huo Mu City demons get wrecked down below.

"What's the matter? Realized you're out of your league?" Ator said with a mocking smirk.

Even after seeing Chi Yan's reactions, Ator didn't make a move. He just stood there, unfazed. After all, this was the power granted to them by the divine capital itself.

"You… you bastards!" Chi Yan knew he couldn't beat these demon dragons, but still pointed a furious finger at them.

"Heh."

Ator didn't answer. Instead, Abel gave a cold and twisted laugh, then glanced at the dragons behind him.

"Send out a dozen of you. Wipe out those demons from Golden Flame City. Keep killing until they're begging to surrender."

The dragons didn't question him. They knew Ator and Abel were their leaders. Without a word, they spread their wings and dove toward the battlefield, unleashing wave after wave of dragon fire.

In just moments, demons started dropping like flies.

And it wasn't just Golden Flame demons dying. Huo Mu City demons got caught in the chaos too.

The dragons didn't care who they were burning. Their only goal was to massacre Golden Flame's forces. The smart ones from Huo Mu City backed off right away—maybe they'd survive if they kept their heads down.

"Now it's your turn." Abel's eyes gleamed with killing intent. He roared, "Brothers! Anyone who refuses to submit—kill them!"

With that, he flapped his wings and launched himself toward Chi Yan at such speed it shattered the air with sonic booms.

"I'm the demon lord of Golden Flame City! You think I'll kneel to you? Unless your Fire Lord shows up himself, I'll never submit!"

Chi Yan knew he couldn't win. But his pride as a demon lord refused to let him bow his head. Gritting his teeth, he spread his wings, glowing with fiery light, and raised his claws to meet the attack.

BOOM!

The impact rang out like a giant bell. A blast of dark energy surged out, knocking demons below into the air and leaving heavy casualties.

"You won't bow? Then you'll burn!" Abel growled.

A wave of dragon energy smashed into Chi Yan, blasting him into the distance. Abel followed it up with a massive jet of dragon fire.

Just as Chi Yan tried to rally his own flame, a sudden gust of wind streaked through the air. Two dragon claws grabbed his shoulders and hurled him straight into the path of the incoming fire.

A demonic dragon had shot out from the clouds, tossing him right into the flames. Then it added its own fire breath to the attack.

In that moment, more than thirty demonic dragons surrounded Chi Yan. One after another, they all unleashed their devastating flames.

The sky lit up like it was on fire.

Chi Yan, seeing the hellstorm headed his way, roared in anger:

"You cowards! Ganging up on me? No honor at all!"

Only now did he finally understand—this wasn't some fair duel. He wasn't fighting one-on-one.

Even if one dragon was his equal, there were thirty-plus of them. All attacking at once.

He never stood a chance.

"Honor? What a joke. We're demons!" Ator sneered.

"Exactly. If you won't serve us, then burn forever in the flames," Abel said just as coldly.

Their voices were met with roars from the other dragons, as if they all agreed.

BOOOOOOM—!

The flames fused together, and the explosion was so strong that a small mushroom cloud rose in the sky.

As the fire faded, a massive figure—about five meters tall—came crashing down from the heavens.

It was Chi Yan, the demon lord of Golden Flame City.

Even after taking thirty dragon blasts, he wasn't dead. But his energy was almost completely drained.

"You guys have no honor," he muttered. He didn't even have the strength left to hurl insults—just bitter sarcasm.

No one answered.

Instead, another huge wave of dragon fire came down on him.

Chi Yan's eyes widened in panic. He screamed, "Bro! Help me!!"

Just as the fire was about to hit, the air beside him ripped open, and a bunch of black, deathly-glowing tentacles shot out. They grabbed his ankles and yanked him out of the danger zone just in time.

The one behind the tentacles was none other than Huo Yuan, the demon lord of Huo Mu City, floating in the air.

Before Huo Yuan could say anything, Chi Yan—barely clinging to life—murmured weakly, "Bro, we gotta go. Now."

"Just give up Golden Flame City. We can rally the other lords, use the full power of the Lord's Seal, and bring out that legendary treasure. Together, we'll wipe out the Fire Demons!"

Huo Yuan nodded. "Alright, let's go."

And with that, he took Chi Yan and flew off. At the same time, he used a magic signal to order the remaining demons still partying in the city to evacuate too.

"Where'd he go?" Ator and Abel landed, looking down at the crater where Chi Yan's energy had just been.

They looked confused.

The other dragons knew exactly who had rescued Chi Yan.

But for the sake of old ties, none of them said a word.

One of them even shrugged and said, "Maybe he turned to ash? I mean, with the boss's power… how could a puny demon like that possibly survive?"

"....."
