I do not know for how long I stood there crying out my eyes but by the time I finally came through, I noticed that Alpha Kai was now dressed in a simple brown tunic and black pants. His hair was messy like he had run a hand through it several times, and his eyes— those eyes— were latched on me while he stood awkwardly to the side, his gaze soft.


I blinked at him in disbelief because for some reason, I found his attitude strange. I found how he'd simply left me to cry while he stood with me and watched uncomfortable; until he drawled;


"I'm sorry, I should've left you to yourself, but I couldn't leave when you are like this… I also did not know how to console you either. So…" He trailed off, a hint of amusement slipping into his eyes.


Something about the smile on his face warmed my heart, and I smiled, despite being aware that it would come out as one of those watery smiles.
