Chapter 16 - Chapter 15: This Time, We Finish It

Date night.

The setup was perfect—lights, a table, candles, roses. Like a scene from a movie.

But tonight wasn't going to be a love story… it was going to be a nightmare for the two of them.

Axel arrived. Smiling. Holding flowers. Clearly excited.

He didn't know he wouldn't be seeing me tonight… but the girl they both hurt.

Aira walked in quietly. Wearing the navy blue dress—Axel's gift.

Only the second time she's ever worn it. The first was supposed to be on their date.

Now? She wore it again. Not for love.

But for closure.

Axel turned.

"Aira?" he asked, stunned.

Aira smiled, but it was forced.

"Hi love. Long time no see?" Her voice was soft, but steady.

"What… what are you doing here? Where's Kiera?"

"Kiera right away? Not even a 'How are you'? Look—I'm wearing your gift. Pretty, right?"

Just then, Samantha arrived. Her eyes froze when she saw Aira. Like she'd seen a ghost.

"Aira," Samantha whispered.

"Oh best, glad you're here. Why didn't you come closer? Come, join us on my date with my boyfriend," Aira said, calm but with weight behind every word.

"Your boyfriend?" Samantha laughed. "Stop the delusion. You really think he ever liked you? That Axel wanted you? Dream on."

Aira let out a slight laugh, bitter.

"After everything, after pretending to be my friend… that's all you can say? Not even a bit of guilt, Samantha? Not even a single sorry?"

She paused. Took a deep breath. Her eyes shimmered with tears she refused to let fall.

"You know, Samantha… I treated you like a sister. I trusted you with things I never even told my mom. I stood by you through your breakdowns, I understood you even when you were toxic. And you? What did you do?"

Samantha stayed silent. She couldn't even look at her.

"All this time… I was just your game. You set me up. For what? Fun?" Aira dropped her bag. "You watched me fall apart. You heard me cry. Then laughed behind my back? How dare you."

Samantha moved to step closer, but Aira stepped back.

"Don't touch me. You lost the right to come near me the moment you chose your pride over my pain."

Axel stayed quiet. Frozen.

Aira turned to him.

"And you, Axel… how dare you." Her voice trembled. "How dare you make me fall in love with you. You held me while you played me. Remember my birthday? That surprise? Our late night calls? Were all of those… just scripted? Was any of it real?"

Axel took a step forward. "Aira, please—"

"No!" she shouted. "Don't say my name like that! You don't get to beg. You don't get to say sorry. You made me believe in something real. And it was all fake?"

Silence. No one moved.

Then I walked in. Calm. Unbothered.

"Wow. That was painful to watch," I said. "But very much deserved."

"Kiera?! You planned this?!" Samantha shouted.

"Did I force you to betray her? Did I make you fake a friendship?" I answered coolly. "You made your choices. I just made sure you'd remember them."

"What is this?! Revenge?!" Axel snapped.

I smiled. "No. This is closure—delivered with drama, of course. Because you made her weeks a living hell. So now, you listen."

Suddenly, Axel dropped to his knees.

"Kiera, please… I know you felt something too. Don't tell me it was all fake."

I shook my head. "You're begging now? Let me make it clear—I never liked you. I just played the game you started. And this time, we won."

"You traitor!" Samantha screamed.

I looked at Aira. "You want to shut her up?"

Aira nodded—and gave Samantha a sharp slap.

Then Axel. One more slap.

He held his cheek, but said nothing.

"This isn't about revenge," Aira whispered, her voice hoarse. "It's about respect. And you both lost mine."

We walked away in silence.

Before we got too far, Aira stopped. Took a deep breath.

"I thought it was over," she said. "But it wasn't. Because there was still a part of me screaming inside. But tonight…" She looked back, "…I'm the one ending it."

We kept walking.

After a few more steps, I turned to them once more. I smiled, faintly.

"And you two…" I said calmly. "Next time, don't drive too fast…"

I stepped back.

"…you might hit the wrong person."

Silence. No more theatrics.

But as we got into the car, we still heard them shouting.

"This is your fault!" Axel yelled.

"Wait! Why are you blaming me?! You wanted her too, didn't you? You flirted with Aira!"

"You planned everything! I just followed you!"

We didn't listen anymore.

Aira stayed quiet.

But in her eyes—she was finally free.
