Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

S hospital wasn't any special hospital, it contained a variety of different cases that were rather severe, that was one of the reasons she chose this one, she knew that any of the hospitals would beg to work with her, but she didn't want to be too out of touch—this was something really interesting and rather close to what she did.

Although she was called a doctor and could manage in it over the years of expertise she has acquired, she was a biology-based technological expert, something closely related to genetic engineering, but deeper than that.

When anyone approached her with cases, it was with this technical support and genetic change that she cured them. She really enjoyed what she was doing; she liked to help them, regardless of their social standing and financial status. Anyone who had to approach had to go through the standard protocol which may piss people who are used to accessing everything with ease, but they knew that she was irreplaceable, that what she had to offer wasn't going to be available anywhere else.

Though a lot of cases from the C Country have approached her, she rejected them; she had not been ready to face the people who ruined so much for her, and she was rather busy establishing her ground and giving everything she could to her mother and brother. But it did hurt her that she was doing a lot of injustice to innocent people; perhaps that was the reason she ended up where she was.

Even though she had promised herself that she wouldn't wear herself out doing too much. She couldn't help it. She had to do something when she knew she had the power to. So she was on her rounds, determined to find who was in dire need of her help.

She was confident in her abilities rather than being prideful. Whatever she had was years of dedication, practice, and patience that brought her here, and she wasn't someone who would just forget that.

She had almost checked out half of the patients, and she had already made a mental note on how to proceed with them so far, when that odd room with too many flowers and aura caught her attention. She could understand the sentiments of whoever put those there, but the doctor in her was definitely not feeling great. The possibilities of the allergies and many other things that flowers could have on the patient was consistently bugging her.

She could guess that the doctors hadn't spoken against it, as they must be terrified of the person responsible for this ordeal. She did want to make a scene, but she knew that it would end up nowhere unless her identity was revealed. Things had always gone her way with her patients because no one dared question her, but she was basically a nobody here.

She sighed and moved closer to the person to observe her closely. She was a rather beautiful woman, with very pale skin, her lips very slightly chapped and a bit pale, her black hair was rather a mess, and the hospital attire definitely didn't do her justice. Even with all this, she was indeed a sight for her eyes.

She felt sorry for that lady who was losing so much of her life even without her knowledge, she learned that it had almost been six years since she was in this state. And her state had been rather unique.

People do stay in a coma much longer and wake up; hers wasn't that long compared to some cases, and still,, they were long. But she had trouble pinpointing the reason behind it. Usually, it is much easier for her to figure things out. But this seemed a bit messy.

She hasn't taken many cases related to coma, but even so, it shouldn't have been that difficult for her.

She was both intrigued and a bit worried. Her eyebrows were a bit scrunched as she was trying to figure this out, then somebody called her name, and she was broken from her trance. All the thoughts that had evaded her seconds ago had dissipated like air.

She turned to focus on the person who called, a bit disappointed that she was interrupted.

"Luna, I was a bit concerned that you haven't yet made it to the cafeteria, it's time for lunch in case you forgot?" Zoe Grant said with a hint of worry.

"I was checking these patients and I just forgot the time, thanks for looking for me though," Luna Davenhart said. She was indeed grateful.

She was someone who often got lost in time, as she was so dedicated to whatever she was doing, it was so easy for her to get lost in time. Her secretary always had a hard time reminding her of such things.

She walked behind Zoe Grant, who was slightly hopping while moving. She could easily see that she was a rather enthusiastic person and an optimistic one, too. She had high confidence in her, after all, that was the whole reason she actually told her who she was. And she was glad that she had someone reliable and a friend in town for her.

That suddenly reminded her of her dear friend, it had been a while since she had called her. She made a mental note to herself to call her regarding the progress there. She was grateful to her friend who was using any spare time she had to help her.

She knew she was extremely lucky with all the friends she had.

They reached the cafeteria soon enough and grabbed the basics. She wasn't in the mood to grab anything in particular. She was an absolute foodie, and her body absolutely put up with her. She usually had something to try in her mind before lunch. Her cravings were so fluctuating, worse than those of people who are pregnant. And she would sometimes wonder what she would be like if she actually got pregnant. She knew that her husband would have a super hard time dealing with all this.

She had been fairly single all this while, minus the few dates she went on to satisfy her mother. Her mother had given up setting her up with people as she realized it was of no use. She was very particular about the character of the person she wanted as her partner. It was more like describing a person rather than a general perspective. And she didn't want to budge. Or to say precisely, she harbored too much hope that this person existed to lower her standards.

She let that thought go and started listening to Zoe Grant complain about her co-workers and elaborate on the characteristics of each of them.
