Return of the Dragon Warriors

Volume 1 Chapter 15: Footfalls of Upheaval

Weiss's eyes widened in disbelieving realization at what her dragon said. Turning, she looked to see how her new friends were processing the whole situation. They were all looking at her with varying degrees of curiosity as they tried to recover. Even Azura – who was barely being held up by Yang and Ruby as he fought to stay conscious – had a look of curiosity and interest.

"Lady Weiss… I believe you owe us an explanation…" Azura exhaustedly said, trying to get out from on top of Yang and Ruby, barely managing to avoid falling over as the two sisters caught him.

"Whoa! Easy there, Big Blue! You're still not fully recovered from whatever the hell that thing you did was!" Yang chided.

"Oh, you mean the Beast Guardian?" Sylver said casually, as though it was common knowledge.

Everyone turned to look at him in shock. "I'm sorry, the Beast what now?" Whitley asked disbelievingly.

"Beast Guardian. Everyone has one. They have an inner Animal Spirit that can do that," The Atlassian royal replied with a shrug.

"... Am I the only one lost here?" Ruby asked.

"Doesn't everyone know this?" Sylver questioned.

"Sylver… The combat schools don't teach people about the Four Aspects of the Soul… Remember…?" Azura said with tired exasperation.

"Oh, so the public school system is stupid. Got it," Sylver commented.

"I think I can explain," Blair piped up, causing everyone else to look at her.

"You can?" Ruby asked hopefully.

"Please do. Between Weiss having a dragon and this stuff about 'Animal Spirits' and 'Beast Guardians,' the rest of us are completely lost." Yang said, annoyed, about all the questions they had.

"I don't know. He seems to be following. The ninja-looking guy." Sylver said, gesturing to Ren.

"I had heard rumors about the Four Aspects of the Soul back when I was a child, but I had thought they were a myth," Ren commented.

"Oh, they're very real. You see, the Four Aspects of the Soul are the four parts of a person that make up their entire soul. Four spirits that each represent a part of who you are as a person." Blair began to explain.

"Think like from that Vale anime 'The Final Wind Mover,'" Sylver said.

"Ohhhhh! Keep going, Blair," Nora commented from next to Ren, eyes lighting up in what seemed like realization.

Blair nodded. "The Four Aspects of the Soul consist of the Wild or Rampageous Spirit, the Harmonious or Gentle Spirit, the Happy or Lucky Spirit, and the Miraculous or Wondrous Spirit. Each one corresponds to a different internal element and a different part of who you are as an individual."

"Internal element? So, it really is like 'The Final Wind Mover?'" Ruby asked in amazement.

"Exactly. The Wild or Rampageous Spirit is the aspect that represents the soul's rough, dynamic, and violent side. The most instinctual and primal part of a person. It corresponds to your internal Element of Fire." Blair explained, the others nodding along.

"So, is that why Yang's hair goes whoosh when she uses her Semblance?" Ruby asked.

Blair nodded. "Exactly, Ruby. Yang's hair catching ablaze like that and her eyes turning red when she uses her Semblance is a sign that she has a strong and deep connection to her Wild Spirit and internal Fire Element. However, there is a duality to that: While it means she's more prone to anger problems, it also means she's more passionate and in touch with her instincts."

"Eh, she ain't wrong," Yang said with a shrug.

"Okay, so that covers the Wild Spirit and Element of Fire. What about the others?" Jaune asked as they all began walking.

"I can take this part. Next is the Gentle Spirit. This is the static, base state of the soul. The side that shows up most commonly when the soul is in a calm state of being. It corresponds to the internal Element of Wind. It represents knowing who you are at your core and who and what you want to be. How to be as free as the Wind itself." Azura tiredly explained, his voice becoming a little less rough, the exhaustion clearly leaving.

"That sounds like Ruby to me," Yang commented.

Azura nodded. "Exactly. Ruby likely has a very strong connection to her Gentle Spirit and internal Element of Wind. In fact, it's quite common for people like Ruby with Speed-Type Semblances to have a strong connection to that Aspect of the Soul." He continued explaining.

"What about the Water element?" Hunter inquired.

"From what I've heard, that one is actually connected to the Happy Spirit. It represents the positive emotions of a person's soul, such as happiness and love, as well as their internal Water Element. It's the Aspect of blessing and prosperity that brings good harvests and catches." Ren took over to allow Azura to continue recovering.

"So, like your girlfriend with the hammer?" Hunter questioned.

Nora blushed at the comment while Ren discreetly looked away. "We're not 'together' together!" Nora replied in embarrassment.

"Suuuure you're not," Sylver replied with a playful, wolfish grin.

"We're getting off topic. What about the fourth Aspect?" Pyrrha piped in gently, trying to keep the conversation on track.

"The last one, the Wondrous Spirit, is the side that embodies your wisdom and experience. It represents everything you've been through, good and bad, and how you've learned and grown from it. It's connected to your Earth Element and is actually the Aspect that your Semblance embodies." Sylver explained.

"That's… surprisingly coherent coming from you, Sylver," Ruby commented, blinking in confusion.

"And logical," Weiss added in disbelief.

"I have my moments. Now back to the dragon in the room," Sylver replied.

"What about that 'Beast Guardian' thing?" Weiss asked, obviously trying to buy time.

"... You win this round, Schnee. Well, Azura. You did it, so you explain," Sylver replied, shrugging.

Sighing, Azura nodded. "As Blair explained, each of the Four Aspects has a part of your being it represents. That also means they each embody a different power. For the Wondrous Spirit, it's the Semblance. For the Happy Spirit, it's the body itself and physical prowess. A person's normal Aura is the embodiment of the Gentle Spirit." Azura explained.

Zhan turned to look at Rena. "So, you suck at that one," he said with a smirk.

Rena rolled her eyes at the assertion. "Very droll," she replied.

"So that means that this 'Beast', whatever falls under the Wild Spirit?" Dahlia asked, seeming to get where the conversation was going.

Blair nodded and picked up where Azura left off. "Exactly. The Beast Guardian is a special Aura technique under the Wild Spirit discipline. It allows you to physically manifest your Animal Spirit, the power that embodies it, in the real world using an ability called the Beast Aura."

"I've heard of the Beast Aura. It's an ability that allows you to use your Aura to take on the abilities and powers of your Animal Spirit, right?" Ren added, picking up where this was going.

"Exactly," Blair replied, nodding.

"Okay. So, what is this 'Animal Spirit' thing?" Ruby asked, still a bit lost.

"The Animal Spirit's a soul totem that embodies the beast inside a person's soul. Basically, everyone's got their own inner animal, their own beast inside that embodies their natural, primal instincts. Azura, as you saw, has a tiger spirit for his totem. Mine's a wolf." Sylver explained.

"That makes sense. And this 'Beast Guardian' is a technique that allows you to use this 'Beast Aura' ability to physically manifest this totem in the real world to fight for or alongside you?" Whitley piped in, seeming to get it.

"Got it in one." Sylver grinned.

"Well, as informative as this has all been, we should head back before something else goes wrong." Weiss reminded them a bit nervously.

"Yeah, we still got a lot to do. So, we-oh ho, wait a minute! Nice try. Explain the dragon." Sylver started before backpedaling, seeing Weiss was trying to dodge the subject.

Weiss sighed, seeing that she wouldn't be able to avoid it. "Let's find somewhere to patch up his wing safely, and I will explain while we do so." She told Sylver.

"I'm watching you, Schnee," Sylver said.

Meanwhile, At the Bluffs of Beacon Academy

Ozpin and Glynda were watching from their scroll pads as the heroes made their way back to Beacon Academy with Weiss's injured dragon in tow. Glynda's expression was one of sheer disbelief, while Ozpin seemed genuinely surprised.

"Well, this is certainly a stunning turn of events," Ozpin commented in amazement.

"'Stunning?' That is putting it mildly, Ozpin! One of our students has a dragon! I thought you told us that all of the dragons had died out long ago!!" Glynda snapped at her superior.

"I said I believed that they had died out, Glynda. There is a difference." Ozpin replied in correction.

"Regardless, Ozpin! The ramifications of a live dragon are enormous! What will we do if she finds out that the dragons still live?!" Glynda asked, fixing him with a questioning glare.

"Glynda, please. First, we need to get our new students through initiation and find a way to keep this information from going public. Especially considering that the entire school saw the dragon before we cut the video feed," Ozpin reminded her as Glynda sighed.

"… I take it that you want me to summon the others so that we can begin adjusting the plans to accommodate this revelation?" Glynda replied, rubbing her temples in annoyance.

"Please do. I will continue to monitor the situation," Ozpin replied before turning his attention back to the situation at hand.

Nodding, Glynda pulled out her scroll. As she did, Ozpin continued to watch the heroes. Truly, this was a fascinating development. However, time would only tell if it would be a net positive or a net negative.

In the Emerald Forest: With Our Heroes

"... So, your brother gave you a pretty stone he found in one of your mines?" Ruby asked in shock.

Weiss nodded. "Yes, he did."

"And it turned out to be a dragon egg that hatched into Silfrdrengr for you?" Yang added incredulously.

"Indeed it did," Whitley replied with a sigh.

"And now, since you've bonded with a dragon, you can use Magic? Like… 'Magic' magic?!" Nora asked, her eyes lighting up excitedly. "You're like Henry Porter!"

"... More like Aragon from the 'Birthright Cycle,' actually," Weiss corrected.

"That is so cool! My bestie is a Dragon Warrior!" Ruby squealed in delight, hugging Weiss fiercely

Weiss flinched and gritted her teeth in pain. "Please… let… go…!" She wheezed.

Ruby blushed sheepishly and pulled away. "Sorry…"

"Okay… so, to recap: Weiss here is like some sort of Dragon Wizard or something, Azura used a high-level Aura move that brought something in his soul out, and Silf has a broken wing. Anybody got a first aid kit so we can start fixing that?" Yang replied.

"I do. Check my backpack…" Azura replied, taking a steadying breath.

Taking Azura's backpack off for him, Ruby set it on the ground and opened it. Rummaging through, she found the first aid kit and opened it. Immediately, she noticed a problem.

"Um… I don't think there's enough to fix that…" Ruby commented.

Yang sighed. "Great. Now what?"

"Wait… I read somewhere that dragons can change size. Silf, can you get smaller for us?" Ruby commented, eyeing the wounded dragon.

'I can, but I'm not very good at it yet,' Silf told them telepathically.

"... So, you can do it?" Ruby asked hopefully.

Sighing, Silf closed his eyes and tried to concentrate. Soon, he began to glow with white and silver light, then began to shrink. Soon, he was roughly the size of a small puppy—just the right size to apply first aid to.

"Good work. Now then, Silfrdrengr. Let me see that wing," Weiss told her dragon, taking the first aid kit from Ruby.

After several minutes, Weiss managed to fashion a makeshift splint for Silf's wing. Once the splint was in place, she began carefully wrapping it in a way that would secure the splint without hurting him. Finally, after several minutes, his wing was bandaged, meaning they could leave.

"There. That should do it. Now you'll have to avoid using that wing until it's fully healed. That means no flying, mister," Weiss told him sternly.

'But that's boring, Weiss…!' Silf whined.

"I don't care. If you don't rest that wing, it won't heal properly. You're on bed rest until you're fully recovered. Understood?" Weiss replied uncompromisingly.

'... Fine. But I won't like it…' Silf replied with a pout.

"If you're a good boy, you get a Silf Snack," Whitley told the dragon.

Perking up, Silf nodded and settled into Weiss's arms as she looked at her brother in annoyance. "Don't spoil him, Whitley."

"It's an uncle's job to spoil," Whitley retorted.

Meanwhile, the others looked on in surprise. "What is a Silf Snack? For that matter, what do dragons even eat?" Blair asked in confusion.

"Dragons eat anything that corresponds with their element. For example, Silfrdrengr, being a Silver Dragon, eats anything cold or metallic," Weiss explains.

"... So, he can eat ice cream… and it's actually good for him…?" Yang asked in shock.

"Lucky…" Ruby added, pouting.

"Now then, let's head back to Beacon with the relics before something else tries to kill us," Whitley said, looking around nervously.

"Right behind you…" Azura replied, taking a step out of Yang and Ruby's arms before collapsing face-first into the grass. "Yang… Ruby… a little help…"

Later: At the Bluffs

Ozpin and Glynda watched from their scroll pads as the heroes made their way through the forest. Soon, the teenage Huntsmen-Hopefuls arrived before them with their relics in hand, Weiss having Silf in hand. Presenting the relics, the teenage heroes shuffled and looked around awkwardly as Ozpin and Glynda inspected them.

"Well done. The twelve of you pass," Ozpin told them with a smile.

"So… what now?" Zhan asked.

"Now we need to figure out how to keep the rest of the school from leaking the information about Miss Schnee's… pet," Glynda informed, causing all of them to flinch.

"You… saw that…?" Rena asked, a bit of nervousness peeking out in her normally cold tone.

"Yes, we did. We had drones monitoring the entire test. Or did you forget, Miss Septim?" Ozpin asked, quirking an eyebrow.

Rena and Zhan sighed as Ember gulped. "So… the whole school saw what happened…?" Ember asked.

"Yes, they did," Glynda answered, pinching the bridge of her nose.

Azura sighed in frustration. "Well… there goes keeping Silfrdrengr a secret from the other students… and keeping a low profile while I am here…"

"Goodbye, normal knees…" Ruby sighed in mourning.

"Ruby, you got in early after being personally invited by the headmaster. You never had normal knees," Sylver pointed out, patting her shoulder.

"And you're dating a prince. So…" Yang added.

"... You're a prince?" Ren asked in disbelief.

"No," Nora said with a chuckle.

Sylver gave a mocking bow. "Wolf Prince Sylver, at your service."

Nora stared at him in disbelief. "No fucking way…"

"No, no. It is actually true," Whitley told her.

Nora narrowed her eyes. "Where's his crown…?"

"That's the Ryokugyū who do that," Sylver replied.

Ruby dropped to her knees in despair, accidentally causing Yang to lose her grip on Azura and drop him to the grass. "Ow…" Azura groaned.

"Does Ruby want a cookie?" Sylver offered.

"... Strawberry cookie?" Ruby asked, looking up at her boyfriend hopefully.

"With chocolate chips," Sylver said, giving her a head pat.

"All is forgiven," Ruby responded.

Later: In Ozpin's Office

Ozpin sipped on his coffee cup as he waited patiently in front of a computer screen on his desk. Soon, a call tone rang out as Ozpin looked up to see who was calling. Seeing the names "James Ironwood, Theodore Pine, and Leonardo Lionheart" on the call, he clicked "Answer." Soon, a video call screen opened up, revealing the three other Headmasters.

The first, in a video call window in the upper-left corner of the computer screen, was a tall, muscular middle-aged man wearing a white overcoat with a gray undercoat, a black sweater, a red necktie, and a white glove on his right hand. His suit pants shared the same color as his overcoat, and he was sitting at a very spartan-looking desk in terms of decoration. This man was James Ironwood, the Head General of the Atlassian Military and Headmaster of Atlas Academy.

In the second video call window in the middle of the computer was a lion Faunus with a lion's tail peeking out behind him for his Faunus trait. He had gray, mane-like hair and wore an old-fashioned formal light- and dark-brown coat with beige trim. This man was Professor Leonardo Lionheart, known as Leo to those close to him—the Headmaster of Mistral's Haven Academy.

Last but not least, in the video call window in the lower right corner of the computer screen, was a dark-skinned man with a thin mustache and a small beard. He had a lithe but toned frame, short, dark, cropped hair, and wore a sports suit with fingerless gloves. He also had pierced ears. This man was Professor Theodore Pine, known to those close to him as Theo—the Headmaster of Vacuo's Shade Academy.

"Ozpin. Is this important? I was preparing for my nephew Oscar's birthday." Theodore asked, clearly annoyed.

"It is quite important, Theo. I apologize for the inconvenience." Ozpin replied, sipping from his coffee cup.

"Well, get on with it, Oswald. Do you have any idea what time it is here?" James snapped.

Ozpin rolled his eyes. "Very well, James. It has come to my attention that one of my students has somehow acquired a dragon while the other has found a dragon egg in the Emerald Forest."

"... Like Menagerie dragons?" Theodore inquired.

"No, Theo. Actual dragons" Ozpin clarified.

"Come again?" Ironwood asked, clearly too tired to deal with this

"You heard me, James. The dragons still live." Ozpin told the three.

"But… how is that possible…?" Lionheart asked in disbelief.

"Well, when a mommy dragon and a daddy dragon love each other…" Theodore responds.

"I know how reproduction works, Theo. I'm asking how this could have happened without any of us knowing." Lionheart sighed in frustration.

"I believe that someone under your command might know, James. One 'Winter Schnee,' if I remember right, considering that her younger sister is the one that the dragon seems to belong to." Ozpin explained as the Atlassian General's eyes widened in disbelief.

Pressing the button on his intercom, Ironwood tried to keep any irritation or accusation out of his voice as he spoke. "Specialist Schnee. Report to my office immediately."

"Um… right away, sir…" Winter's voice replied with seeming uncertainty.

After several minutes, Winter entered into view from the video call and saluted the general. It was then that she noticed he was on a video call with the other headmasters, and she raised an eyebrow. "Am I interrupting something, sir?" She asked.

"Schnee. When were you going to tell me that your sister had a dragon?" Ironwood plainly asked, quirking an eyebrow of his own.

Winter paled even further than she already was at that. "Um… sir? I don't understand what you mean…"

"He means this, Miss Schnee." Ozpin replied before clicking on something.

Soon, a video feed popped up, showing our heroes and Silfrdrengr combating the terror of Thunderjaws. Winter gulped as she watched the video, realizing that she had been caught keeping secrets. Looking to her superior, Winter tried to appear calm.

"Sir… I swear that I can explain this," Winter told him a bit nervously.

"I doubt that, Specialist, but I would love to see you try," Ironwood said in a deadpan tone.

"I was going to tell you about Weiss's dragon, but only when my family and I had collected all of the facts on dragons and separated them from the myths." Winter explained.

Ironwood's eyebrow rose even higher. "Your family? So, they all know? Even Jacques?"

Winter flinched, realizing her slip-up. "Yes, sir. It's… quite a long story…"

"I will be expecting a full debriefing on the situation later for me to share with the other headmasters, Specialist Schnee. For now, I am not angry. Merely disappointed," Ironwood replied simply, making Winter flinch.

"Yes, sir. I apologize for my improper conduct…" Winter replied solemnly.

"Back on the subject at hand. How are we going to deal with this? If one or two dragons still live, there could be more." Glynda remarked, sighing in frustration.

"We need to secure the other dragons and any Dragonstones before 'she' finds out about them. They could turn the tide of this war in either direction depending on which side gets to them first." Theodore added, rubbing his temples.

"Agreed. We need a coordinated plan to track down and retrieve them before the enemy beats us to them," Ironwood remarked, threading his fingers together in front of him with his elbows up on his desk.

"If it helps, my brother Whitley was the one who found Silfrdrengr's egg," Winter added.

Ironwood raised an eyebrow. "You named it?"

Winter frowned. "We named him. Sir."

"Noted, Specialist. But that raises a question. If your brother was the one who found the egg, why did it hatch for your sister and not him?" Ironwood asked.

"We are unsure. But, based on our research, the dragon hatchling inside must sense and bond with the Aura of one they deem worthy to hatch from their egg. It appears as though they sense the Aura from their fated partner through proximity and physical contact with their egg," Winter explained.

"You mentioned a second egg was found. May we know by whom?" Theodore inquired of Ozpin.

"One Jaune Arc. He and Pyrrha Nikos found the second egg in a Death Stalker cave in the Emerald Forest." Ozpin explained as Lionheart raised an eyebrow.

"May we see it? It will help with identifying them for future reference," Lionheart asked, the gears in his head turning.

Ozpin nodded as he pressed a button on his own intercom. "Will Jaune Arc, Pyrrha Nikos, and Weiss Schnee please report to the Headmaster's office immediately? And Mr. Arc, please bring the extra item that you and Miss Nikos discovered in the Death Stalker's cave in the Emerald Forest." He called out over his intercom.

Within several minutes, a ding sounded from the elevator as it rose to the office. Soon, the elevator door opened as Weiss, Jaune, and Pyrrha stepped out, Jaune having his stone in his arms. Before the three could bow in respect, they noticed Ozpin was on a call with the other three headmasters. Raising their eyebrows, they couldn't help but feel a sense of dread.

"Um… is this a bad time…?" Jaune asked nervously.

"Not at all, Mr. Arc. We would merely like to ask you all about the egg Mr. Arc found," Ozpin replied.

"The what now?" Jaune asked in confusion as Weiss nervously looked away.

"Yes, Mr. Arc. The egg. That dragon egg in your hands," Ironwood replied to the video call.

With that, Jaune and Pyrrha's eyes widened in shock as they both looked down at the "egg" he was holding. "I… have a dragon egg…?" Jaune asked in disbelief.

"Jaune… you were right…! It is an egg…!" Pyrrha uttered in amazement.

"Yes, yes. It's very incredible. Now bring it closer so that we can all take a proper look at it, Mr. Arc," Glynda remarked annoyedly, rolling her eyes.

Quickly, Jaune walked over and set the egg down on Ozpin's desk. The four Headmasters, the Deputy Headmistress, and a Specialist all looked it over carefully as it glowed lightly in the light. Looking up at Jaune and Pyrrha, Ozpin cleared his throat.

"Mr. Arc, Miss Nikos. How did it feel when you first touched this egg?" Ozpin asked them, waiting patiently for their responses.

"Cold?" Pyrrha responded, unsure what the point was.

"Warm and… um… pulsey," Jaune answered.

Theodore raised an eyebrow. "'Pulsey?' Like you could feel a heartbeat inside it?"

"I can handle explaining this," Weiss sighed.

"By all means, Miss Schnee. Please do," Glynda remarked drolly.

"When a dragon hatchling inside its Dragon Warrior's Dragonstone feels the Aura signature of its fated partner through the shell of its egg, it will react to the sensation. Sending warm pulses through it as it resonates with its partner and grows inside the egg to prepare to hatch," Weiss explained.

"Resonates? You mean they only hatch for the person who is meant to have them?" Lionheart asked with an intrigued tone.

"Yes, sir. At least, based on my family's research, that is the case for Dragonstones meant to go to a Dragon Warrior. We couldn't find anything on Dragonstones containing wild dragon hatchlings," Weiss explained.

Jaune looked at the egg in stunned disbelief. "I'm… a Dragon Warrior…?"

"You will be when it hatches. Honestly, I was certain it would be Pyrrha instead," Weiss replied with a shrug.

"And just how long does it take for one of these 'Dragonstones' to hatch into a baby dragon, Miss Schnee?" Glynda asked, raising an eyebrow.

"It took Silf's Dragonstone about a month from my birthday to hatch. From that, we can assume that the hatchlings are already mostly developed within the egg by the time they're found and simply need to resonate with their fated partner to begin the final stages of development before hatching," Weiss explained.

Glynda sighed. "Perfect. That means we only have one month to begin preparing and bracing for the birth of a baby dragon in Beacon…"

"Aaand there goes my credit score…" Ozpin sighed.

"Weiss, how does one baby-proof for a dragon?" Jaune gulped at the idea of being a dad to a dragon.

"I'll help you, Arc. Is that all you require of us, Headmasters?" Weiss sighed, rubbing her temples.

Ozpin nodded as Glynda took a picture of the egg on her scroll and began sending it to the other three Headmasters. "Yes, it is. You three may go now." Ozpin told the three students.

Seeing that they had been dismissed, Jaune grabbed his Dragonstone before he, Weiss, and Pyrrha took their leave. Sighing, Ozpin looked to the other Headmasters as they all seemed to be rubbing their temples.

"Well, gentlemen. There you have it. Proof positive that dragons have returned and that we need a plan to deal with this…" Ozpin sighed.

"I believe I may have one," Lionheart remarked.

"Please speak up, Leo. We need some course of action to take." Ironwood groaned in annoyance.

"I believe that we should send students out on missions to investigate strange environmental and elemental phenomena in nature. There is no way that dragons or dragon eggs could exist in nature without causing any. Once they have reported back any, we send trusted professional Huntsmen to retrieve any dragons or dragon eggs in the area for safekeeping until we can find their destined Dragon Warriors to bond them with." Lionheart explained.

Ozpin nodded. "That is an interesting theory, Leo. I will call for Mr. Schnee. As the one who found his sister's egg, he can confirm if it is true."

"None of you thought to ask the Arc boy or Miss Nikos?" Theodore asked, raising an eyebrow.

"For a very good reason, Theo: With the excitement from initiation, they likely didn't notice anything," Ozpin replied.

Theodore nodded in response. "Fair enough, Oz."

After several minutes, Whitley came into the office from the elevator. Standing at attention, he glanced around to see the Headmasters and General in a video call.

"... Am I interrupting something, Headmaster?" Whitley asked, confused.

"We simply wish to ask you something, Mr. Schnee. About the Dragonstone you found by accident and gifted to your sister," Ozpin replied.

Whitley's eyes widened in shock. He looked to Winter on the video call, who gave a grim nod that made him realize that they knew. "What did you need to know, sirs?" Whitley sighed.

"What were the conditions like in the mine when you found the egg that had been discovered in it?" Ironwood asked, cutting right to the chase.

"Well, there was no breeze from the cave, the entrance had little if any snow, and the further in we got, the warmer it became," Whitley answered the four Headmasters.

The four nodded as Glynda looked to Lionheart in the call. "Well, it seems that confirms your theory, Leo."

Lionheart nodded in response. "It would appear so."

"Then we will begin efforts to organize the search for more Dragonstones within the next month. That will be all, Mr. Schnee. You may leave now," Ozpin replied, dismissing him.

Nodding, Whitley took his leave as the four Headmasters ended their call. Sighing, Ozpin looked out the clock face-shaped window to his office as he mulled over the events of the day.

'Dragons, alive and well. This changes everything going forward. All I can do is hope that it ends up being for the better…' Ozpin thought as he looked out at the horizon.

Ozpin didn't know what the future would hold with a revelation like this. However, he did know one thing. This entire war had just become a lot more complicated…
