Chapter 6 - Status

The sun hung low in the sky, casting elongated shadows across the training field. Ray lay sprawled on the ground, his chest heaving as he tried to catch his breath. The rigorous endurance training his father had put him through had pushed him to his limits. Every muscle ached, and his limbs felt like lead.

As he stared up at the sky, a familiar chime echoed in his mind, and a translucent window materialized before his eyes:

Ray blinked, absorbing the information. The system had been silent since the incident with the fox-girl. Ray had checked his status before himself but nothing had happened until now when It returned, offering insights into his growth. He noted the unallocated stat points, pondering where they would best serve him.

"Five points," he murmured. "Where should I put them?"

He considered his recent experiences. The endurance training had tested his physical limits, but the incident with the fox-girl had revealed a latent potential for healing. He needed to be balanced, prepared for any situation. Ray didn't feel like he would need to be strong right now so he would just evenly distribute his stats.

After careful deliberation, he decided:

+1 to Aura Control (now 5)

+1 to Mental Focus (now 9)

+1 to Perception (now 10)

+1 to Vitality (now 10)

+1 to Strength (now 11)

Satisfied with his choices, he closed the interface, determination settling in his heart.

A Few Hours Later

The aroma of freshly baked bread and sizzling eggs filled the air as Ray sat at the breakfast table. His younger sisters, Lila and Mira, chattered animatedly about their plans for the day. Their mother moved gracefully around the kitchen, preparing plates and pouring drinks.

The fox-girl, was now awake, she was apparently still a bit scared not used to her new surroundings so his mother had given her food in her room letting her eat alone.

"Eat up, Ray," his mother said, placing a plate before him. "You'll need your strength."

He nodded, digging into his meal. The food revitalized him, and he felt his energy returning.

After breakfast, Ray stepped outside, the morning sun warming his skin. He took a deep breath, the fresh air invigorating him. He knew he needed to continue his training, to hone his abilities further.

Training Resumes

Ray stood in the center of the training field, focusing his mind. He began with the breathing techniques his father had taught him, drawing in deep breaths and exhaling slowly. As he did, he felt the familiar warmth of aura stirring within him.

He raised his hands, channeling the energy into his limbs. A faint glow emanated from his skin, the aura responding to his will. He moved through the basic forms, each motion precise and controlled.

As he practiced, he felt a growing connection to the energy within him. It flowed more freely now, responding to his intentions with greater ease.

After an hour of practice, he sat down to rest, the exertion leaving him breathless but satisfied. He knew he still had much to learn, but he was making progress.

Evening Reflections

As night fell, Ray sat on his bed, the day's events replaying in his mind. The system's interface appeared once more, reminding him of the unallocated stat points.

He pondered his experiences, considering where to invest future points for optimal growth.

Vitality: 10

Stamina: 12

Aura Capacity: 10

Aura Control: 5

Mental Focus: 9

Strength: 11

Agility: 11

Perception: 10

He felt confident in his earlier choices, the balanced distribution aligning with his desire for an all-around build.

Satisfied, he closed the interface, determination settling in his heart. He wasn't excited about having to help a heir of the foxkin. He didn't know what the system would make him do just to help her. The system never let any unjust acts go. Always making Ray help because of which he was known as a very kind person in his fathers small barony even if he normally would not have done those tasks.

Ray liked his new lazy life. He didn't have to work everyday, he had a family now and some people in the barony he would consider friends not close friends but still friends. Ray didn't like how the system said this quest will greatly affect his future. He finally wanted to enjoy his break. He got very used to his new life style. He wanted to be lazy but still it didn't mean he wanted to be weak.

Ray was very excited when he first was reborn here he was very exited to learn to use magic. He sadly realised later unlike his older sister, younger sisters and mother he had no affinity. So he just had to use aura which was to slow to progress in because of which he grew bored of it. Unlike his last life him not learning something was fine, he was still a child and had his family to rely on in this life.

The quests were his only worry. They weren't completely unreasonable but as Ray grew older the quests would make him do harder things. Things according to his strength which meant if he was too strong he might have to start fighting strong creatures or monsters.

Ray really didn't want to do that but this world was crazy. Ray was around level 20 mainly because of the quests he got but there were people in this world at the thousands maybe even ten thousands. If one of those people decided to get rid of his home. There wasn't anything he could do. He wanted to grow stronger because of this reason but him growing stronger may just lead to his family getting in trouble instead because the quests would become more and more dangerous.

Ray sighed as he drifted into sleep.
