Chapter 15 - 15

Arkhan walked toward the dining room to have breakfast. He only found Jio and Sena, who were preparing food together.

"Where's Sandy?" Arkhan asked.

"Still in the bathroom," Sena replied.

"Oh right, Levan hasn't come back since yesterday," said Jio.

Arkhan paused for a moment. Levan usually came home around midnight, but last night he didn't hear the door open like usual.

"I'm getting worried. Where could he be?" Jio added.

"You know anything, Khan? He's usually with you or Sandy too," asked Sena.

"I-I don't know. Yesterday I just saw him rushing home from school," Arkhan replied.

"I've been wondering, why do Levan and Sandy often come home so late?" said Sena.

"Maybe they have jobs — part-time shifts or something," Jio guessed.

"Ah, yeah. Part-time work usually runs in shifts," Sena agreed.

"C-can I help with anything?" Arkhan asked. He wasn't good at cooking, but still offered.

"Just grate this cheese for the omelet topping," Sena said, handing him a grater and a piece of cheese. But accidentally, Sena nudged a knife on the table. He froze for a moment.

"You okay, Sena?" Jio asked.

"I-I'm fine," Sena replied quickly, putting the knife back in its place.

"You look terrified. What's wrong?" Arkhan asked.

"I just remembered what Levan said yesterday… He said he saw Sandy buying a knife. A-ah, never mind. I didn't mean anything by it," Sena said nervously.

"Let's not overthink things," Jio said to calm them.

They all went quiet again, returning to their activities.

Arkhan kept grating the cheese, deep in thought.

"Levan did accidentally say something about that knife yesterday… He already knows what Sandy does for a living, so why is he suddenly missing now?" Arkhan wondered silently.

Sena briefly stopped whisking the eggs, glanced at Arkhan, and gave a faint smile.

*******

"Sorry. I can't help look for Levan. My boss just called me into the office."

Sandy slid him phone back into jacket pocket after reading Arkhan's reply.

He was now on a quiet street, waiting for him hacking job to finish.

Hacking someone's phone wasn't difficult for him — someone whose job was to eliminate and manipulate criminal evidence.

Ting!

Sure enough, him phone pinged, showing the coordinates of a new location. He immediately sped off on her motorcycle.

When he arrived, it was a shallow river with a strong current and many rocks beneath.

Sandy began searching the area for a phone and soon spotted one in the water. He dove in to retrieve it.

Carefully, Sandy climbed out of the river. Him eyes accidentally caught sight of a figure in a red cloak near her motorcycle.

The figure instantly fled upon seeing Sandy emerge from the water. Sandy wasted no time and jumped onto her motorbike to chase after them.

Seeing the figure run into a grassy area filled with loose gravel, Sandy planned to stop the bike and continue on foot. Unfortunately, the brakes failed.

Brukk!

Sandy swerved his bike to the side of the road and crashed into a billboard. The sign would've crushed him if he hadn't quickly shifted his body away.

"My brakes suddenly failed, I crashed into a billboard, and it almost fell on me. What is this — a Final Destination scene?"

He tried to move again but struggled, his leg pinned under the motorcycle. He quickly reached for him phone in jacket to call for help.

Bruk!

The phone was kicked away — someone had just arrived. Sandy's heart pounded as he realized a figure stood behind him.

"Sorry."

Before he could even react, something stung his neck.

And everything... went black.
