Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

"Come on out, Blastoise!"

The next day, May accepted the invitation again and brought Riku to another uninhabited island.

The Orange Archipelago didn't have much of anything, except for many islands. For an uninhabited island of about a dozen square kilometers, there were definitely dozens, if not a hundred.

"Make it quick."

"Water Gun!!"

Blastoise was a Stage 2 Pokémon, so dealing with the Geodude in front of it was incredibly easy. One Water Gun attack, and the Geodude fainted directly.

May turned her head to look at Riku. "Is this really okay?"

"Your Feebas has been watching from the side all along; it probably won't absorb much battle experience."

"Why don't we let it go up and battle for a while when we encounter a weak Pokémon later?"

"Don't worry, with me and Blastoise here, Feebas won't get hurt."

Riku said helplessly, "I want to too, but the problem is Feebas doesn't have any offensive moves."

"Are we supposed to let it headbutt other Pokémon with its fish head?"

Riku was telling the truth. Although he saw from the system's stat sheet that Feebas was now level 15, it still hadn't learned a single move.

May sighed. "Feebas isn't actually hard to encounter, but not many people have ever tried to catch one."

"Firstly, its appearance and physique are very ordinary, and the most crucial thing is that it's hard to evolve!"

"In all these years, I've only seen one Milotic in a Contest. Even Professor Oak doesn't understand the illusory value of Beauty."

Riku frowned. "Isn't there any other way?"

May pondered for a moment. "There's another way, which is to find a Prism Scale!"

Riku was taken aback. "What's that? Is it hard to get?"

"Of course!" May nodded. "It should just be a legend; anyway, I've never seen one."

"Also, I called Professor Oak yesterday and told him about your situation."

Riku was just about to browse the system shop to see if there were any Prism Scales. Hearing May mention the previous inquiry, he quickly asked nervously, "How was it? Any results?"

May shook her head. "No! Your unregistered status is a bit tricky, and we don't have a Pokémon Professor in the Orange Archipelago right now."

"Professor Oak said that he needs to see you in person at least once to determine if he can give you a Pokédex."

"He also said that I'm not good at judging people and doesn't believe me!"

May complained, "I clearly told him how much you cherish Pokémon, even willing to adopt disabled ones, but Professor Oak still stuck to his principles, saying rules are rules."

"However, it's actually not bad that Professor Oak is willing to risk investigating your unregistered status."

"Forget it," Riku considered for nearly five minutes and suddenly shook his head.

"I'm worried about the four Pokémon at home. I'd better stay on the island first and wait until they have the ability to protect themselves."

"At least, I have to train a powerful Pokémon first to protect the three dumb birds and the Red Shrimp after I leave."

"And Gardevoir's egg hasn't hatched yet. Having received the entrustment of someone's mother, I can't be so irresponsible."

Speaking of Gardevoir's egg, Riku did think of some strange phenomena. Since the day Gardevoir's egg was put back in the small wooden house, apart from getting a little bigger, it didn't seem to have any other movement.

But ever since the great battle between the two legendary Pokémon that day...

At night, Gardevoir's egg would occasionally flicker with red and blue light.

They didn't know if something was wrong.

Riku and May chatted as they walked to a small lake. They originally planned to see if they could catch some Water-type Pokémon for Riku, since Feebas's physique was so weak that Riku could probably sit on it and kill it, let alone have it carry him out of the island.

Unexpectedly, the small lake had already been occupied by a Pokémon.

Looking at the Pokémon with a gray shell and deep blue body in the center of the lake, May was so excited that she almost jumped up.

"Is it a very powerful Pokémon?"

Judging by May's expression, Riku immediately made a decision.

"Very powerful, and also very suitable for you!"

May quickly took out her Pokédex:

"Lapras, also known as the Transport Pokémon, a Water/Ice-type Pokémon."

"Lapras has a gray shell on its back, which is very hard. The uneven protrusions on the shell may be for passengers to hold onto for stability."

"Lapras is good at swimming and ice skating and can master a large number of Water and Ice-type moves."

"Lapras is very intelligent and has high intelligence that allows it to understand human language. A few Lapras can even communicate with humans through telepathy."

"Lapras communicates with each other through singing, transmitting information about water temperature and ocean currents to distant companions. This method is faster and more accurate than radar."

"Note: Lapras is gentle and rarely engages in battles, preferring to carry people while swimming."

"Whoa, this Pokémon actually likes to carry people swimming, it's simply... simply too considerate!"

Riku was overjoyed. "Right, it's also called Lapras? Could it be a Dragon-type Pokémon?"

May shook her head. "No, and that Aerodactyl on your island isn't a Dragon-type Pokémon either."

Riku was taken aback. "What type is it then? I don't have a Pokédex, so I really don't know."

May smiled. "Rock and Flying-type."

"If you're lucky enough to catch that Aerodactyl, then it'll be more like you carrying me around."

"That Aerodactyl's level is very high. I heard it's been living on your island and is the overlord there besides Dragonite."

Riku was shocked. "My island has a Dragonite too? Why have I never seen it?"

"Rumor has it," May nodded. "But it seems to have left these days. I don't know when it will be back."

"Let's think about how to catch the Lapras in front of us now."

Saying that, May took out six Poké Balls from behind her and handed them to Riku. "I have Water-type Pokémon, so I'll let you have the Lapras."

"Later, when I send out Blastoise to battle Lapras, you find the right time to throw the Poké Ball..."

"You can't be serious," Riku exclaimed. "Catching Pokémon by relying on someone else's help, isn't the success rate terrifyingly low?"

"You were the one who told me that yesterday."

"Low-level Pokémon are one thing, but this Lapras's level should be quite high."

"No choice," May sighed. "Are we supposed to let your Feebas fight?"

"We can only try now. Actually, even I don't have the confidence to catch Lapras."

"I hope we're lucky this time."

"But you have to give me money afterward to buy back the Poké Balls. My parents don't give me much pocket money each month."

"It was one thing when you didn't have money before, but didn't that Team Magma leader give you 50,000 Pokédollars?"

"All right!" Riku nodded, his fighting spirit ignited.

This time, it was his first real attempt at catching a Pokémon.
