Chapter 203 - Chapter 203: Council

At this moment, Aiden, sleeping in the Department of Mysteries, was idly lounging around on his consciousness island.

"Damn, they never told me a wizard's mind could transcend the limits of time and space," Aiden rolled his eyes in frustration.

"Well, otherwise how do you think wizards' spirits can travel independently after death?" The system, long absent, appeared again with its usual dry tone.

"But I'm so bored, system, really so bored. Can't you find me some entertainment?" Aiden whined, rolling dramatically on the ground of his consciousness island.

"Sigh, silly boy, did you forget you still have two things you've never used?" The system sighed deeply.

"Hm?" Aiden perked up, sensing a clue. "You mean..."

"The fragment of Entropy has already been combined with the Bone Church. The system has helped you merge them together. Now you can summon any person from any point in time into the church," the system revealed.

"System, you're the best!" Aiden tried to act cute.

"Heh."

At Aiden's will, a massive Bone Church rose on his consciousness island.

Aiden stood outside, surveyed the imposing structure, and closely examined the white bones making up the exterior walls. He noticed there were many familiar species among them, with fairies seeming to be the most numerous.

"Uh, is this...?" Aiden began doubting what his future self had actually done.

"Oh, system, can I change its appearance? Let me create a round table instead. After all, I'm a British gentleman," Aiden smirked with amusement.

"Use Transfiguration yourself," the system scolded.

"Oh, right." After so much lounging around, the dragon had almost forgotten he was still a wizard.

Aiden reached out and summoned his long staff. With a flow of magical power, the Bone Church began to transform completely.

The church's interior became a chessboard pattern. A gigantic round table was set up in the center. The surrounding scenery was altered based on Aiden's visions from the Deep Realm, corresponding to its different layers.

Aiden sat at the head seat, his hood hiding his face, two dragon horns protruding menacingly, and a faint trace of dragon's might swirling around him.

He knocked on the round table. At his mental command, the Bone Church, augmented by the Entropy fragment's power, sent mystical tendrils into various time periods.

Together with the Bone Church's own obscure properties, this massive disturbance was concealed within the tide of time itself.

On the chessboard, a flash of brilliant light appeared, and two men and a woman materialized at the seats.

"Where is this?" "Who are you!" "Is this some kind of magic?" they reacted with confusion and alarm.

Aiden intensified his dragon might, and the trio instantly felt threatened and fell silent.

"Did you summon us here, sir? Are you a wizard?" the previously inquisitive man asked cautiously.

"Yes. This is... an experiment, or you could call it my pastime for when I'm bored," Aiden replied, raising his hand as the surroundings flashed through various layers of the Deep Realm.

The voices of the four Deep Realm Kings sounded one by one, causing immense distortion and filling the three with awe.

"You see, as the products of your species' strongest desires, the Deep Realm Kings are eyeing your world hungrily," Aiden said with mysterious authority.

"Do you intend to oppose them, sir?" the man forced himself to ask.

"You're very perceptive. I do want to defeat them. But honestly, if I let them destroy you all, I wouldn't lose anything, so I call this both an experiment and a pastime."

From beneath the hood, Aiden's voice betrayed no emotion. The three began imagining all kinds of terrible possibilities.

"Then, sir, what is this trial of yours?" the woman in the trio asked nervously.

"I want to see if you can confront them as mere mortals," Aiden said with a hint of dark mischief.

The three immediately understood that this hooded, horned figure was no benevolent entity.

"What price must we pay?" the last man asked with resignation.

"Your lives will be my spectacle, my tale for killing time," Aiden replied, tapping the table as the chessboard reappeared.

"Fine, what's a life worth anyway? I'm in," the first man volunteered bravely.

After a moment's hesitation, the other two agreed as well.

"Let's introduce ourselves first. I'm Elvis, given the Prewett surname by the royal family after helping them win a war," Elvis Prewett declared.

Aiden stared in shock. "..."

Ha! You summoned your own ancestor, and the very first one at that. What hellish luck! the system taunted with glee.

"Like him, I was granted a name for valor in war. I'm Iris Greengrass," Iris said proudly.

"The three of us are comrades. I'm Sean, given the name Weasley," Sean added.

This is too much! The system was about to pass out from laughter.

Enough!

"Excellent, brave souls. Now, swear allegiance to me, and I will lead you onto the path of the extraordinary," Aiden said, spreading his hands dramatically.

A phrase filled the three's minds. They recited together in unison:

"Outsider not of this world, great ruler of the Sea of Consciousness, gray-white dragon of the mind, I swear of my own will to join the front against the Deep Realm Kings."

"Since you've sworn, what do we gain, sir?" Elvis asked practically.

"Good question. You'll be able to connect to this church and also receive something you never had before: magic," Aiden replied with a sly smile.

"Magic! I'd heard the stories from the battlefield, and now they're real," Elvis marveled, staring at his hand.

"And you just took his word for it?" Iris raised an eyebrow skeptically.

"Haha, seeing is believing," Sean laughed heartily.

Aiden unlocked part of the Bone Church's powers for them, and under its mystical blessing their minds were dramatically empowered.

"This is magic!" Elvis summoned a whirlwind to his hand with wonder.

"Incredible," Iris whispered, waving her hand and calling forth a gentle shower of rain.

"Elvis, Iris, look what I can do!" Sean's hand burst into controlled flames.

What am I doing, giving my own ancestors cheat codes? Aiden thought with bewilderment.

The trio reveled in their newfound power for a moment before collecting themselves.

"All right, you now possess magic. Later, you can learn spells from the wizards of your world. This council is adjourned," Aiden announced.

"Wait, may we know our organization's name?" Sean asked hopefully.

"How interesting. Let's call it the Twilight Hermit Society," Aiden replied with satisfaction.

He tapped the table once more, and the three disappeared back to their own time.
