Chapter 102 - Tang San, It All Depends on You

Even Zhu Qing felt that Xiao Wu and Ao Tian had spoken a bit too boldly just now.

As someone from a prominent family, Zhu Qing knew very well just how powerful a Soul Saint was.

She also knew that with just the few of them, there was absolutely no chance of defeating a Soul Saint; they could only try their best to hold out for the time it took for an incense stick to burn.

She didn't understand why Ao Tian and Xiao Wu had spoken like that.

Although puzzled, she didn't ask.

Tang San didn't pay much attention to how arrogant Ao Tian's words were; after all, he had known Ao Tian for six years and was used to his tone.

He said, "Ao Tian, I know you've always been confident, and indeed, you've always succeeded in the things you were confident about before. But now, we're facing a Soul Saint. No matter how confident you are, you can't win against him. It's going to be difficult for us to pass this test. So, I need you, and all of you, to follow my lead this time."

Xiao Wu was unconvinced. "Tang San, Ao Tian is much stronger than you. Why should we listen to your commands?"

"Because I've learned a lot of combat experience from my teacher," Tang San replied.

"It's just theoretical talk, right?" Xiao Wu scoffed.

Seeing Xiao Wu question Master's knowledge, Tang San's voice turned colder. He said in a low voice, "That's a theory based on the practice of countless soul masters. It's not just talk. If you know how to command, then you lead."

Xiao Wu was immediately speechless. She didn't know anything about commanding. If she were to command, everyone would just do as they pleased.

"Xiao Wu, let Tang San command us," Ao Tian said.

Tang San nodded, his expression becoming serious. He began, "Ning Rongrong, after the battle starts, you'll be responsible for supporting us. Ao Tian, Gu Yue Na, and Xiao Wu, the three of you will be the main attackers. Zhu Qing, you're good at speed, so you'll be responsible for maneuvering, drawing them in, and looking for openings to attack. I'll be in charge of controlling Teacher Zhao's attacks, limiting him as much as possible, and also assisting you in the frontal assault."

Dai Mubai nodded slightly to the side, showing some appreciation for Tang San's command abilities.

He looked at Gu Yue Na and said, "Teacher Zhao's strength is terrifying. If you're not good at defense, attack from a distance. Try to avoid getting close to Teacher Zhao."

"Little ones, have you discussed it?" Zhao Wuji stood up and said lazily.

The time for burning a stick of incense had already passed.

Tang San stepped forward a few paces, standing in front of everyone with an unprecedented solemn expression. "Teacher Zhao, we're ready."

Zhao Wuji took out a stick of incense, lit it, and stuck it in the ground behind him.

Ning Rongrong had already released her martial soul and started chanting a spell to assist her teammates.

Her fingers flicked out, and colorful light landed on Tang San and the others, making them feel their strength and speed increase considerably.

"Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, not bad." Zhao Wuji grinned, laughing loudly. "Today, I'll give you your first lesson."

After speaking, he slammed his fists onto the ground. A layer of yellow light spread out from him as the center, causing the ground to tremble. A terrifying force spread towards Tang San and the others.

Tang San's expression changed, and he shouted, "Get out of the way quickly!"

His body leaped up, and at the same time, a Blue Silver Grass shot out, wrapping around Ning Rongrong and pulling her up.

Ning Rongrong was responsible for the entire team's support. If something happened to her, their chances of winning would be even lower.

Ao Tian and the others, however, didn't jump up, but stood still in place.

Zhu Qing had originally wanted to jump up to avoid Zhao Wuji's attack, but Ao Tian's voice rang in her ears, telling her not to move. Plus, Xiao Wu was also holding her hand, preventing her from jumping.

When the yellow light spread to Ao Tian and the others' feet, they were immediately thrown away, staggering to the edge of the arena.

Ao Tian and Gu Yue Na's faces were pale. Xiao Wu strained, but couldn't make her face pale; instead, it turned red.

As the terrifying energy wave reached her feet, Zhu Qing's heart chilled, and she thought to herself that she was going to be injured.

Then her body was sent flying, but strangely, she didn't suffer any injuries.

After landing, Ao Tian and Gu Yue Na looked very pale, as if they had been seriously injured, while Xiao Wu's face was oddly red.

Just as Zhu Qing was puzzled, Ao Tian weakly shouted, "Tang San, we're all seriously injured, we can't go on. The rest of the battle depends on you. We entrust our fates to you, we believe you can win the final victory."

When Tang San saw Ao Tian and the other three being knocked back, his mind went blank. He had just landed when he heard Ao Tian's words, and he was stunned.

The battle had only just begun, and they had already lost four teammates, how could they fight?

He observed Ao Tian and Gu Yue Na's faces, and they didn't seem to be faking it. Xiao Wu's face was flushed, but her face was scrunched up, as if she was very uncomfortable.

How could this be? Didn't Ao Tian and the others dodge? Tang San's heart had already sunk to the bottom. For him to face Zhao Wuji alone, the difficulty had increased several times over.

That incense stick had only just burned a little.

Zhu Qing opened her mouth to say something, but Xiao Wu pulled her, and she didn't say anything.

Ning Rongrong was both angry and anxious. "Ao Tian, you're doing this on purpose! Tang San, a Soul Grand Master, could dodge it. How could you not? Didn't you say you weren't afraid of even a Title Douluo? Why are you starting like this?"

Xiao Wu stuck out her tongue and didn't say anything.

Ao Tian said helplessly, "We are Soul Elders, yes, but we've never seen a Soul Saint's methods before. We didn't react in time. What's the problem?"

Ning Rongrong was speechless.

Zhao Wuji laughed heartily. "I didn't expect there to be a few without any combat experience. According to our rules, we don't accept those who are pampered, but..."

He pointed at Tang San and continued, "You still have him. If he can hold out for the time it takes for a stick of incense to burn, I'll consider you all to have passed."

"Tang San, it's up to you, go for it! I believe in you," Xiao Wu shouted, her face contorted in pain.

Tang San's heart was a mix of emotions. Based on his understanding of Ao Tian and Gu Yue Na's combat strength, even if they hadn't seen the Soul Saint's methods, shouldn't their combat instincts still be there?

How could he have been so easily caught?

Although he was puzzled, he didn't have time to think too much. Even if he was the only one left, he had to give it his all.

Master had asked him to come to Shrek to study, and he didn't want to fail even the exam and then slink back home.

Even if he had to risk his life, he would pass this assessment.

"Ning Rongrong, you step back a bit. The rest of the battle is up to me," Tang San said in a low voice.

"Tang San, are you sure you can do it?" Ning Rongrong asked worriedly.

"Even if I can't, I have to," Tang San said firmly, his body straight, and a surge of fighting spirit emanated from him.

Ning Rongrong looked at Tang San, who dared to confront a Soul Saint on his own, and then looked at Ao Tian, who was pale at the edge of the field. She immediately felt the difference between Tang San and Ao Tian.

She retreated a distance and said, "Tang San, we are comrades. My father taught me since I was a child that you should never abandon your comrades. I will support you from behind."

Ning Rongrong's trust gave Tang San even more strength.

He couldn't help but recall a line from the General Outline of the Profound Heaven Treasure Record: Never try to pretend to be a pig to eat a tiger, or you'll actually become a pig.

Today, he decided not to hide any of his abilities. He would make Ao Tian and Gu Yue Na understand that he, Tang San, was no longer the Tang San of the past.

At the same time, he could also use Zhao Wuji, the Soul Saint, to test the extent of his overall strength.

Just one chapter today at noon. Should Ning Rongrong be taken in as a disciple? Leave your thoughts, whether you think she should or shouldn't, and I'll take a look at the ratio, just as a reference.
