Chapter 12 - A Snake

Zhen remained seated in his chair, turning on the TV with an expression that suggested he was too lazy to do anything else.

He was even too lazy to have breakfast, even though he was starting to feel a bit hungry.

The good thing was, he now had something new to focus on—the cultivation game.

Every now and then, he would close his eyes to feel his body, but of course, he felt nothing.

"Do I really have Soul Power here? And has my Soul Power increased?" he wondered.

Unfortunately, he couldn't feel anything because Soul Power was an elusive thing.

Zhen often spaced out in his living room, and that continued for an hour until he heard a knock on his door.

He quickly got up and opened the door, only to find a group of men who had arrived with a truck. On the back of the truck were two luxurious-looking long sofas.

Tang Xin had mentioned one sofa, but two had arrived.

Each one looked comfortable enough to sleep on.

"Are you Xia Zhen?" one of the men asked.

"Yes," Zhen replied.

"Would you like us to bring these sofas inside?" the man asked again.

And Zhen allowed them in.

It was impossible for him to carry both sofas in by himself. Since the workers were willing to do it, he naturally didn't refuse.

Of course, with the arrival of the two sofas, the wooden chair had to be moved out. It was now placed outside his house.

Even though he was reluctant to accept both sofas, once he sat on one, he could only sigh at how comfortable it was.

Even if he wanted to sleep, it would certainly be more comfortable on the sofa than on his bed.

He couldn't help but lie down before logging back into the cultivation game.

Back in Spring City, he felt more relaxed.

"Time to hunt again," he muttered.

He looked for another small gate.

From there, he flew on his sword up to 50 meters high, where he could clearly see the entire city.

Of course, even at that height, the forest beyond was still much taller.

However, at least he could see the ground below clearly.

He entered the forest, flying swiftly into its depths.

Before long, he saw many wild beasts roaming and cultivators hunting.

Since most were of low levels, he wasn't interested in them.

Now that he was at the Eighth Stage of the Qi Master Realm, he needed to look for Level 8 beasts and above to gain System Points.

As he explored the forest further, Zhen realized it was filled with ravines, remnants of mining activities.

On a morning like this, Zhen heard many loud roars from some of those ravines.

Apparently, many of them had become lairs for wild beasts.

Zhen passed over ravines that didn't give off a threatening vibe.

If they were only like that, the beasts inside were likely too weak for him, even if their roars sounded fierce.

"Ohh, what's that?"

He suddenly saw something interesting—a massive brown snake tail with dark red patterns, thick as the body of a full-grown elephant.

If it was that thick, then how long was it?

The tail was at the entrance of a large cave covered in hanging vines.

Zhen saw the tail slowly retreating into the cave.

It looked like the snake was very full.

DING!

(Ancient Forest Snake Level 11, Equivalent to a First Stage Earth Master Realm Cultivator!)

Seeing the notification, Zhen took a deep breath.

He hadn't even encountered Level 9 or 10 Beasts yet, but now he had stumbled upon a Level 11 one.

Beasts at this level couldn't be underestimated, because from Level 10 to 11, a drastic transformation occurred—boosting their power significantly, as if it were a breakthrough of three stages at once.

Zhen didn't know if his strength was enough to fight the snake, but curiosity drove him to try.

Besides, the snake might not be able to fight at full strength.

He descended, picked up a fairly large stone, and threw it at the snake's tail.

However, the stone was likely no more than a mosquito bite to the snake.

It didn't even cause the tail to move.

Zhen grew bolder. He approached and touched the tail with his hand.

It seemed the snake wasn't even aware that a human was bothering it.

The snake's skin resembled scales, very hard, and Zhen felt like he was touching iron.

He knocked on it, producing a light clang sound.

When the tail was tapped, the snake began to move it slightly, as if it felt itchy.

"But how about this?" Zhen began transforming his right hand into a dragon hand.

After that, he struck the snake's tail hard.

BANG!

Instantly, the massive tail was flung to the side and pierced, smashing into a tree nearby. The tree snapped at its base but didn't fall completely, its branches entangled with those of the surrounding trees.

ROARRHHHRR!

From within the cave, a raspy roar echoed in a tone full of anger.

The tail whipped toward Zhen like a giant whip, but he easily dodged it by flying high into the air.

At the same time, the cave began to shake, indicating that the creature inside was hastily moving to come out.

It didn't take long before Zhen saw the snake's head, its mouth so large it looked like it could easily swallow an elephant—let alone a human.

It glared coldly at him.

Whoosh!

Suddenly, it lunged at him with unexpected speed, making Zhen realize that even though it was full, it was still extremely dangerous—it was a Level 11 Beast, not an ordinary snake.

Zhen increased his sword's flying height to avoid the snake's lunge.

To his surprise, even when he reached 50 meters, the snake still managed to get within a meter of him—and that was only half its body.

It seemed to be coiled around something inside the cave, so with one movement, its entire body couldn't immediately come out of the cave.

If that were the case, its length likely exceeded 100 meters.

Before Zhen could feel at ease, the snake opened its mouth.

Buzz!

Green smoke suddenly spewed out.

From its appearance alone, it was clearly poisonous.

Zhen quickly retreated, seeing plants wither rapidly after merely coming into contact with the green smoke.

Fortunately, it wasn't something difficult to avoid.
