Chapter 32 - Episode 29 The Price Of Prophecy

THE DEVIL'S BRIDE

Episode 29: The Price of Prophecy

By Rapwizzy Debaron

The nights were no longer quiet.

Since Kael's awakening, the sky had turned restless—moons flickered like broken lanterns and stars pulsed with unnatural rhythm. Even the shadows whispered.

Lucien couldn't sleep.

He stood guard by the cliffs again, staring into the abyss where Heaven once tried to cast him. In his hand, the sigil of the Origin Flame glowed faintly… not on his skin, but branded deep in memory.

"I made a mistake," he whispered.

Evelyn appeared beside him, her silver hair dancing in the breeze.

"Loving me?" she asked quietly.

Lucien shook his head. "No. Not telling Kael the full truth. Not preparing him."

Evelyn's voice trembled. "He's just a boy."

Lucien turned, meeting her eyes. "He was a boy. Now, he's a key."

---

Kael stood before an ancient altar buried deep beneath the ruins. The same altar where Lucien once bound himself to the Flame.

He wasn't alone.

The girl from before—the one with silver wings—stood beside him. Her name was Selah.

"You want answers," she said.

"I want freedom," Kael muttered. "From fate. From prophecy. From being a pawn."

Selah knelt and traced the symbol on the altar. "Then you must face it."

The stone altar cracked open—revealing a blade of pure flame.

"The Flameblade," Selah whispered. "Forged to destroy kings and gods."

Kael stared at it.

"If I take it…?"

"You seal your fate," Selah said.

Kael didn't hesitate.

He reached out.

And gripped the handle.

The fire didn't burn.

It welcomed him.

---

Meanwhile, Seraphina stood before her growing army.

Demons. Cursed angels. Dark sorcerers.

All kneeling.

All hers.

She raised her corrupted sigil and spoke with a voice that shook bones.

"The Chosen Flame has awakened," she declared. "And he will come here."

A warrior in bone armor asked, "And if he doesn't choose us?"

Seraphina smiled.

"Then we take him."

---

Back at the ruins, Kael walked out with the Flameblade in hand.

Evelyn gasped when she saw it.

Lucien dropped to his knees, his expression unreadable.

"You've accepted it," Lucien said.

Kael nodded. "I don't know what I've become. But I know who I want to be."

"And who is that?" Evelyn whispered.

Kael's voice was steel wrapped in sorrow.

"The son who ends this war."

---

That night, Kael stood alone beneath a red moon.

He held the blade to the sky.

Lightning cracked.

The fire inside him spoke.

And for the first time…

The world listened.

---

To be continued…

The blade is chosen.

The enemy prepares.

And Kael steps into legend.
