Episode 14: The Blood Oath

Night fell heavy over the obsidian castle.
Thunder cracked in the distance, but inside the war room, it was silence that screamed.
Lucien paced. Evelyn stood still, watching the map stained with ashes of their last battle.
One name pulsed in her mind:
Seraphina.
"She's closer than we think," Evelyn said. "I can feel her magic."
Lucien looked up, his jaw tight. "She has a spy."
Silence.
Then—
Footsteps echoed down the hall.
General Kael entered, armor dented, face bloodied.
"They found the charm stone," he said. "It was buried beneath your chamber… Evelyn."
The room froze.
Eyes turned to her.
Lucien stepped forward. "That's impossible."
But Kael wasn't looking at Evelyn.
He was staring at Ethan.
"I found it in his pack."

Ethan's face twisted in confusion. "What? No—I swear on my life, I didn't—"
But Evelyn's hand was already raised. Flame curled around her fingers.
"Tell the truth," she whispered. "Or burn for it."
Lucien grabbed her wrist. "Evelyn. Think."
She pulled away. Her fire lit the room with a glow of rage.
"I trusted you, Ethan," she said. "You saved me more than once. Why would Seraphina choose you?"
Ethan looked her in the eyes, tears burning. "Because she knew I loved you."
The flames died in her hand.
He continued, voice shaking, "She found me before you ever met me. Told me I'd be near you. Protect you. Feed her information... and maybe, in time, you'd love me back."
Silence.
"I didn't tell her everything," he added quickly. "I never told her about the mirror. Or Caleb. Or the Gate. I—"
"You told her enough," Lucien growled.
Evelyn closed her eyes.
Then did the one thing no one expected.
She took Ethan's hand.
Cut her palm with a dagger.
Cut his.
Pressed their hands together.
"Swear to me," she whispered. "With blood."
Ethan choked. "Evelyn—"
"Swear it."
Their blood mixed.
"I swear," he said. "No more lies. No more secrets."
A pulse of ancient power surged between them.
The room trembled.
A blood oath — irreversible. Unbreakable.
Ethan collapsed.
Evelyn turned to Lucien. "If he lies again… the fire will know."

That night, as the castle held its breath…
Far in the shadows, Seraphina smiled.
"They think a blood oath will save them," she whispered.
Beside her stood a second spy.
One no one suspected.
And this one… was far more dangerous.
