Yao Hui saw that Lyu Juncheng compromised, knowing that she couldn't confront him head-on, she deliberately softened her voice, "You obviously know my thoughts, why can't you fight for a chance with mom to take care of Xiangyang and the others? Aren't I more suitable than others?"
Lyu Juncheng saw Yao Hui speaking directly, afraid that someone might overhear it, he glanced outside the courtyard and whispered, "How old are you, and you still don't know how to watch your words?"
The reason he didn't choose Yao Hui, besides his mother-in-law's disagreement, was also because Yao Hui's temperament was far inferior to his late wife, Yao Qian.
Yao Hui knew Lyu Juncheng was genuinely angry, "Brother-in-law, it's my fault, I won't say things like this anymore and make things difficult for you."
Lyu Juncheng saw she had softened, and his expression looked a little better.
Just then, the eldest, Lyu Xiangyang, burst in like a gust of wind, "Dad, is there anything to eat? I'm hungry."
Just as he finished speaking, he started sniffing around, "Dad, did you buy marinated meat?"
Yao Hui rolled her eyes at her nephew, "You've got a nose like a dog's."
Lyu Xiangyang quickly saw the oil paper package and liquor in his aunt's hand, "Auntie, I want to eat marinated meat."
Yao Hui didn't actually like this nephew much; he was impulsive and couldn't read situations, "It's not mealtime yet. Your dad has been exhausted from working overtime these days, this is for him to have with some drinks later."
Lyu Xiangyang protested, "I'm hungry, Auntie, didn't you say you love me the most?"
Yao Hui, somewhat irritated, said, "You've been messing around outside for so long, your hands must be filthy. How can you eat like that? If you want to eat, go wash your hands."
Lyu Xiangyang was unhappy, "Auntie, you're such a stickler."
Yao Hui couldn't be bothered with him; the more she dealt with this nephew, the worse it got, "Go find Xiang Liang and Xiang Ran, and bring them to wash their hands and eat together."
Lyu Xiangyang reluctantly glanced at the oil paper package in Yao Hui's hands but eventually gave in, "Auntie, you better not lie, I'll go find little brother and sister now."
After saying this, he dashed out of the courtyard like a gust of wind again.
Yao Hui saw her brother-in-law wasn't controlling Xiangyang, but instead turned and walked towards the kitchen.
She was a bit angry inside, but knew she couldn't act rashly and had to focus on the bigger plan, so she followed him into the kitchen.
But when she saw the situation inside, her just-calmed heart became agitated again, "How long has it been since this was cleaned?"
Thinking of something, her eyes rolled, "Brother-in-law, I'm not trying to sow discord, but Yu Xinyan is really thoughtless. She's already discharged from the hospital but still puts on airs. You're already this busy, can't she consider you a little? How can she be a woman capable of living through days?"
Lyu Juncheng was already in a bad mood, and with Yao Hui stirring things up, how could he feel any relief, "You better say less, no one treats you like a mute."
Looking at the messy kitchen, he threw the dirty basin he just got onto the stove and turned to walk out.
Yao Hui saw him like this and feared he might go find Yu Xinyan, and if by any chance he persuaded that woman to come back with him, where would that leave her?
Before things were finalized, she absolutely couldn't let those two meet.
As long as that woman didn't enter the house, there was nothing between them; as long as she put some effort into making the cooked rice into a done deal, she believed her brother-in-law would know how to choose for his future.
Seeing Lyu Juncheng was already at the gate, she hurriedly chased after him, "Brother-in-law, you can't go find that woman at this time. Wouldn't all the previous efforts go down the drain?"
Lyu Juncheng frowned, looking into the distance, and said irritatedly, "This won't do, that won't do, you know the workshop has been busy lately, and there's no one to take care of things at home, how can I work with peace of mind?"
