Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Abyssal Creature

The next morning, after finishing breakfast, the entire army once again set out for the place where the remnants of the Ur Kingdom were hiding.

Since they had traveled a long distance yesterday, today, they only needed to travel a little further to reach that place.

However, today was completely different from yesterday. Today, the entire army had become more cautious and quiet.

But that wasn't because their fighting spirit had faded, but because they were getting closer and closer to the enemy's territory, so it would be foolish for someone to make loud noises, causing their location to be discovered.

Their journey today was also very normal like yesterday, but that peace was completely destroyed not long after by an unannounced clash.

While Ash was riding at the end of the line, chatting leisurely with Serena, the people in the front suddenly stopped, causing the entire army to be blocked.

No one could move anymore.

"What's going on?" Ash moved forward, followed by Serena, who was ready to draw her sword at any moment if something dangerous happened.

However, it seemed that those death row inmates couldn't hear Ash's reply because they were all focused on something. Or some creature.

Not receiving an answer, Ash followed the gazes of his soldiers to see what could make those brutal death row inmates panic like this.

And then, he saw it. An Abyssal Creature.

Abyssal Creature was the nickname used to replace the word "monster" in the game False Horizon. And all Abyssal Creatures were very brutal, they were also the main enemies in the game.

And now, not far from Ash was an Abyssal Creature that had the form of a giant eagle with purple-black feathers, making it look much more threatening and mysterious.

He was suddenly stunned in fear. Ash knew that he would definitely encounter an Abyssal Creature, but he had not expected to encounter one this soon.

But fortunately, the giant eagle was sleeping, and it didn't look like it would wake up for a while.

So, what should Ash do?

In this situation, he could lead the army around that Abyssal Creature and survive. However, Ash still had another option, which was to kill this giant eagle while it was sleeping, without any vigilance at all.

And of course, Ash's choice was already obvious.

How could he ignore an Abyssal Creature when it didn't even have a single defense? Furthermore, he was confident that Serena could defeat that giant eagle.

"What should we do, sir?" Serena asked, she didn't seem too frightened even when she saw that Abyssal Creature, perhaps she had seen too many of them back in the academy.

And surely, she had also killed a lot of Abyssal Creatures there.

That only enhanced Ash's confidence.

"Do you even need to ask? Of course, kill it."

Receiving the order, Serena lightly jumped down from her horse, and in a blink of an eye, she had successfully approached that Abyssal Creature without making even the slightest noise.

Taking advantage of the moment when it was sleeping, Serena's sword continuously launched numerous beautiful yet brutal slashes, causing the Abyssal Creature to be continuously injured without a chance to fight back.

As soon as the first slash was launched, it immediately woke up from its sleep, but unfortunately, Serena's attack speed did not allow it to have a chance to counterattack.

This was no different from a one-sided massacre.

And whether it was Ash's imagination or not, Serena seemed to be getting stronger instead of being exhausted as time passed by.

'Wow, so that's the true power of someone who has awakened the system? I wish I could have that kind of power myself.' Ash stared at Serena with admiration.

She had become his role model without him even realizing it.

Then, with one final blow, Serena successfully severed the giant eagle's two wings as well as its two legs, rendering the Abyssal Creature completely unable to move.

However, it was not dead yet, but only dying. Its eyes showed fatigue and despair, the anger from before had been completely replaced.

The reason Serena did not finish it off was because Ash had ordered her to do so.

Leaving the soldiers still amazed and stunned by Serena's power, he quickly jumped off his horse and ran towards the Abyssal Creature with his jet-black sword in hand.

In the game False Horizon, as long as a character dealt damage to an Abyssal Creature - even if it was just a weak stab - when it died, that character would definitely receive Experience from the Abyssal Creature.

Ash didn't know if that feature would work here, but why not give it a try?

He pointed the tip of his sword at the giant eagle's heart, and then, with a decisive movement, the sword stabbed hard into its heart.

Bright red blood slowly flowed from the wound, the Abyssal Creature died, and Ash also received a notification from the system right after.

[Congratulations! You have killed an Awakened Beast - Shadow Eagle. You have received 2 Experiences due to your dedication.]

'Oh!!!!' Ash couldn't help but read the notification sent from the system over and over again in joy

After all, that was the first Experience he had received since being reincarnated into this game.

However, that smile was replaced by a frown almost immediately after Ash remembered something important.

If his memories served him right, then Shadow Eagles were a species that would be attracted to loud explosions and lights. And they would often gather close together.

Which meant that if Ash knew how to take advantage of that, he could definitely use them to defeat the remnants of the Ur Kingdom.

But why could Ash remember the characteristics of Shadow Eagle when False Horizon had over 500 different Abyssal Creatures?

It was simply because he was an addict. An addict who had been playing this damn difficult game for 6 years straight.

'Wow, I never thought that being addicted to this game could give me so many benefits! I used to think that addiction was a bad thing, but guess I am wrong. Hahaha!' Ash thought proudly.

But don't get him wrong, he wasn't making excuses!

While Ash was still praising himself in his own fantasy world, Serena's voice suddenly rang out from behind, forcing Ash to return and face the cruel reality:

"Prince, what are you doing? Let's continue on our journey."

Ash looked around, realizing that his soldiers had long since left him behind and continued on their way. He immediately approached his beloved horse and chased after the army.

Now, Ash knew that he should manipulate the Shadow Eagles to achieve his goals. However, how could he control those Abyssal Creatures was the main question here.

But suddenly, Ash's eyes stopped at his loyal soldiers, more specifically, the collars they were wearing.

A dark thought flashed through his mind.
