Hundreds of students gathered in a great hall, murmuring excitedly. David stood in line, trying to control his nerves.
"Next!"
It was his turn.
He stepped forward and placed his hands on the crystal orb. It remained dull. Laughter erupted in the hall.
"Another dud?"
David clenched his teeth. No. Not this time.
"System," he whispered, "help me."
A blue light shimmered.

Gasps echoed across the hall.
"W-What? That's not supposed to happen!" one examiner exclaimed.
The headmaster, a stern-looking man with long silver hair, stood. "Extraordinary. What's your name, boy?"
David took a deep breath.
