Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

The next morning, Somika had no idea that Dhurba had a big interview lined up—a chance at his dream job at one of the Big 4 firms, something he had always worked for.

And now, knowing it, she felt awful.

Why didn't I stop myself yesterday? she thought. Why did I take up all his time? What if he needed to prepare? What if I distracted him? What if…?

Her mind raced with endless scenarios, guilt creeping in as the interview time approached.

Dhurba, however, remained calm. Though he lived in a shared house with five other people, he needed a quiet space for his interview—somewhere with absolute silence.

Gently, he turned to Somika and said, "Can you sit in the kitchen for a bit while I finish my interview?"

She didn't mind at all. She could see it in his eyes the excitement, the determination. This meant everything to him, and she wasn't about to get in the way.

For the next 45 minutes, she waited patiently, resisting the urge to peek in or ask how it was going. Instead, she counted down the moments, eager to hear all about it once he was done.

Finally, he stepped out, his face unreadable. "How did it go?" she asked, her voice filled with curiosity and anticipation.

He chuckled, running a hand through his hair. "Honestly? I wasn't fully prepared. But you know what? I've been in this field for so long that the technical questions weren't that hard. I just… answered them naturally."

Then, with a mischievous grin, he added, "You know what's funny? I might not even remember the full form of the company's name. But thank God they stuck to the technical questions! If they had asked me that, I would've buried my head in shame."

Somika burst out laughing, shaking her head. This was Dhurba—unshaken, confident, and somehow always making light of even the most nerve-wracking situations.

And in that moment, she realized… maybe she hadn't distracted him at all. Maybe, just maybe, she had given him the comfort he needed before such an important day.

Somika ended up staying the whole day. She had taken the day off after her graduation, and though it was her first time in his room, stepping into his private space, she couldn't shake the feeling—Was this the wrong choice? Or the right one? She wasn't sure.

But Dhurba? He made everything feel easy.

Knowing she had no clue where anything was, he took charge of breakfast. 🍳☕ She watched as he moved around the kitchen with ease, flipping eggs, making toast, and brewing tea for himself.

As they sat down to eat, she discovered something interesting—they had similar food preferences. Both preferred mild flavors, less salt, and a balanced, homemade diet. It felt like a small, unexpected connection, something that made her smile. 😊

But then came the big differencedrinks.
