Chapter 12 - The Blue-Haired Siblings-2

"An Undead?!" Varn shouted, slamming his hands on the table.

"Hey, behave. This is my table." Kairon warned him, still staring at a paper.

"That's not the concern here! Our village has an undead! An undead!! Do you know how much of a problem that is? We need to do something!" Varn kept on going, still inclined on the fact an undead was residing in his village.

"C'mon. I told you, she has the heart of an undead. She isn't fully an undead.

And actually, if she was. What would you do?

Kill her?" Kairon's expression darkned, he put his documents on the table and crossed his hands as he leaned back on the chair.

He stared up straight at Varn, still waiting for the answer.

Varn gulped, "Uh.. well..", he hesitated.

The problem of an undead was that the will of the person still remained in them and anyone who killed them, had to carry the curse themselves. It was an almost never-ending process that could only be stopped by the power of true mana.

Varn stiffened, realising something about this situation.

"Wait a second. Isn't the curse of an undead something that can only be obtained through killing? I mean, it's you either kill a demon undead or a human undead. It's definitely not something you are born with.. doesn't that mean.."

"Yeah.. what you are thinking is correct." Kairon got up, a familiar rough paper in his hand.

"She has killed an undead. However, as i said before. She's not fully an undead." Kairon put the paper on the table and started writing a bunch of words.

Varn couldn't understand the meaning of his actions, while he was still hung up on the other fact.

"That's.. quite horrible. She's a kid, isn't she. No more than 10 or even 11. What kind of life could she possibly have?"

"Yeah, it's kinda scary to imagine. Though, i don't have single clue about her backstory." Kairon didn't look back, he still kept writing.

However, his thoughts said something else.

"Not a single clue, i say? Hah! Isn't it obvious that I know her backstory? I am a 'reader', aren't I?"

Aldryn and Aurelia Everhart.

The children of the Everhart family, a fallen noble family of the Gushen kingdom. It was renowned for it's powerfull foundation and trade of textiles. However, the greedy ministers and fellow nobles didn't like the head.

Together, they planned the assassination of the head of the Everhart Family. Ofcourse, they were easily defeated by him.

But.. that was the turning point. One of the rivaling families used an undead to attack the estate.

It was a one-sided massacre. The people of the estate were killed, the farms and the mines were seized.

The family head was able to defeat the undead. And so, he too became one.

But unlike a normal person succumbing to the demonic power, the head used his true mana and burnt away his aura to suppress it all into his heart. Yet in the end, he failed.

As both the siblings had escaped into a forest, far from the war. They met him. The family head.

Their father.

Aldryn wasn't very strong at that time, yet he still fought against that abomination of pure power. Although he managed to bring him down, he was utterly exhausted. Falling unconscious on the ground next to him.

Aurelia watched as her brother and father fought with their lives.

The small child watching them both lying lifelessly on the ground, rushed to them.

She grabbed her brother and shook him, sobbing heartly. He didn't move. She kept on shaking him, hitting him, yet he was still lay limp on the cold bloodied ground.

Behind her, a figure rose. She turned to see her father, with both his arms cut off, standing.

His body wobbled, as he approached her closer. His blood-covered face holding a sad expression. His golden eyes had no fire, as if it was extinguished from his heart.

His shivering mouth slowly opened, "i..m..sorry...m..y....princess...", he uttered before falling just besides her.

Aurelia's heart shattered. Her shivering hands touched the cold face of her dead father.

He was dead. Her father, was dead. Dead.

She cried even more, still shaking their body as if they would wake up. They didn't.

She heared footsteps of someone closing to her, but she did not care. She did not care about anything else, other than them.

The figure, a well-built tall man, gently patted her head. "How cruel. Is this the end of the Everhart Family?"

The man took a closer look at Aldryn. He was still breathing.

"Ohh. Maybe not."

---

"And that's the backstory in short. For the long part, go read the novel 'The sixth princess'. Dunno if you will even find it."

Kairon finished writing on the paper, he exhaled loudly as he stretched his back.

Varn observed the paper a little more, it was oddly familiar... "What is that?", he asked, pointing at the paper.

"A blood contract." Kairon replied indifferently, before biting his left index finger and putting the blood under his name.

"Another one?!! How do you even make it?" Varn yelled, shocked.

"Not tellin' ya."

"Ugh!! Where are you even going to use it? I am NOT signing it, no matter what!!" Varn kept on shouting, gesturing his arms into a cross.

"Don't worry. I am not going to use it on you," Kairon sighed, "It's for another purpose."

"What could it possibly be for!?" Varn questioned again.

"I am going to use it on Aurelia."

"You fucking demon."
