Chapter 246 - Chapter 246: Edo Tensei

Boom!!!

A flaming punch slammed into the Four Violet Flames Formation, causing the four Sound ninja to struggle to maintain it.

"One more punch!"

Another strike crashed into the barrier. This time, the attack worked—smashing through the terrifyingly strong defensive formation.

Hiruzen Sarutobi finally broke free. He had already traded his Hokage cloak for battle armor, and landed beside Kiyosuke.

But Orochimaru just laughed.

"Oh my, isn't this my dear student?"

"Really now, Orochimaru-sensei. You're reminiscing with your own teacher—how could you leave me out?"

Well, in a world where killing your master is practically tradition, he was just following the custom... probably.

"Tch, you're still as flippant as ever. I've spent a long time preparing for this day."

Orochimaru clapped his hands together.

"Edo Tensei!"

Two coffins slowly rose from the ground, marked with the characters "One" and "Two."

A third coffin rose beside them, bearing the character "Four."

"That's..."

Bang, bang, bang!

The lids of all three coffins dropped open. First to step out was...

He wore a red, layered armor set over a black combat suit, with long black hair. A Senju clan symbol was etched onto the plating on his left shoulder. His face was gentle, his brow adorned with a Konoha forehead protector. The red armor creaked lightly as he moved, his calm presence alone exerting intense pressure.

The second man had silver hair and crimson eyes, with a forehead protector doubling as a facial guard, bearing the Konoha symbol. Two red markings streaked across his cheeks and jaw. He wore a black, tight-fitting combat suit beneath blue armor, with white fur-lined pauldrons that stretched across his shoulders and back.

As for the last figure who stepped out of the third coffin—Kiyosuke recognized him immediately.

It was none other than the Fourth Kazekage, Rasa, whom he had personally killed a few years ago.

"To help Sarutobi-sensei better understand how I feel, I specifically brought back the First and Second Hokage-sama. And this one—well, the Fourth Kazekage—I revived him on a whim."

Orochimaru chuckled softly.

Yeah... Rasa was just a side project, basically a test subject.

Seeing the lifelike faces of the two Hokage, Hiruzen rubbed his eyes, moved.

"Looking at the two of you... it feels like I've traveled back in time."

"Hey, hey! This really isn't the time for nostalgia."

Kiyosuke reminded him.

Orochimaru threw a kunai straight into Rasa's head, then walked behind the two Hokage and said:

"I made a few adjustments to the sealing tags. Their personalities remain intact, but I can still control them. That way, Sarutobi-sensei, you'll truly get to relive those old memories, won't you?"

White smoke hissed from the faces of the three men. Then, they began to move freely.

Rasa's expression, however, remained lifeless—puppet-like.

"Huh? Didn't I die already?"

The First Hokage, the legendary God of Shinobi Senju Hashirama, looked at himself, confused.

"Looks like we've been brought back with Edo Tensei... You're... Sarutobi?"

The Second Hokage, Senju Tobirama, squinted at the now-aged Hiruzen.

"What? This old man is Sarutobi? He's that old now? Still alive, huh?!"

Hashirama stared blankly. In his memories, "Sarutobi" was the little brat always tagging along behind him and his brother. When did he turn into an old man?

"Ahem, yes, it's me, First-sama, Second-sama."

Being called his childhood nickname in front of juniors made Hiruzen a little embarrassed. He was getting up there in years.

"You used Edo Tensei to summon us? Then Konoha must be in grave danger."

Tobirama's expression grew serious. That technique was a last resort. No one would use it unless the village was truly on the brink.

"No, Second-sama. To be precise... you are the danger now."

Kiyosuke said.

"The man behind you is my teacher, a student of the Third Hokage. He resurrected you both—and the Fourth Kazekage of Sunagakure—and is working with the leader of Amegakure to launch an assault on Konoha."

"What?!"

Tobirama turned around, staring at Orochimaru with eyes full of murderous intent.

He tried to move—but his body wouldn't obey.

"Dammit! I can't move!"

Being bound by his own jutsu—it was humiliating.

"Tobirama, I told you this was a terrible jutsu! I told you not to invent it! Now look at what's happened. We're the ones causing trouble for the future of Konoha."

Hashirama scolded him.

Tobirama responded, "I created Edo Tensei to minimize losses on the battlefield—and to turn the tide during Konoha's darkest hours. But that man—Orochimaru—he's abusing it!"

His purpose in creating Edo Tensei had been noble: resurrect powerful past Hokage in dire times to help Konoha survive. Who could've predicted a rogue ninja would come along and use it to bring him and his brother back from the dead?

"Sigh... What a mess."

Hashirama looked toward the Hokage Rock.

"That's four faces now? So it's the Fourth Hokage already. Where is he?"

Hiruzen replied, "The Fourth sacrificed himself—along with his wife—to seal away the rampaging Nine-Tails."

"What?! Sealing that thing could get you killed—no, wait... He really died? The Nine-Tails' power must be terrifying... The Fourth was a hero of Konoha too."

Hashirama said, visibly shaken.

Did you just look down on the Nine-Tails a moment ago?

"Alright, enough reminiscing. It's time to fight."

Orochimaru smiled as he began to control Hashirama, Tobirama, and Rasa, guiding them toward Hiruzen and Kiyosuke.

"My body's out of control..."

Tobirama coughed.

"Sarutobi, figure out a way to stop Orochimaru. Either take him down or seal us—otherwise..."

"Hahahahaha! Tobirama, at least we weren't brought back at full power. Otherwise, little Sarutobi wouldn't stand a chance against us!"

Hashirama laughed heartily.

"Come on, Sarutobi. And you too, young man from Konoha. Seal us if you can!"

Unlike Tobirama, Hashirama had faith in the younger generation of the village. He believed they'd find a way to stop them.

The Fourth Kazekage, Rasa, said nothing.

His body moved stiffly as he launched the first attack.

Though this wasn't a desert—and the limited gold dust around made it difficult—he still managed to form a row of golden needles and sent them flying toward the two.

Kiyosuke inhaled deeply and exhaled a stream of scorching flames, melting the needles midair.

Suddenly, a kunai flew toward them.

Tobirama immediately shouted, "Flying Thunder God—watch out!"

In the next instant, he appeared beside Kiyosuke, gripping the marked kunai.

He thrust it fiercely toward Kiyosuke's throat.

What surprised him was—

Kiyosuke didn't even try to dodge.

He simply reached out and pushed Tobirama back.

The kunai sliced clean across Kiyosuke's throat.
