"Wind Release: Vacuum Bullet!"
Danzō formed hand seals rapidly. He pursed his lips and spat out a barrage of vacuum bullets at high speed.
Relying on his sensory perception, Kiyosuke dodged the attack. The vacuum bullets struck other areas of the Root training ground, carving out several small craters.
Kiyosuke quickly closed the distance between them, but Danzō was a seasoned veteran. He saw through Kiyosuke's intent at a glance and immediately leapt back to widen the gap. Forming more hand seals, he unleashed another jutsu.
"Wind Release: Vacuum Wave!"
He took a deep breath and expelled a sharp wind blade.
Kiyosuke jumped into the air, twisting mid-flight to evade the wind blade. He landed smoothly, then suddenly pulled out a kunai and hurled it.
The weapon struck Danzō squarely in the forehead.
"Impossible..."
As he muttered that, his body slumped backward.
In the next moment, Danzō's corpse vanished. Kiyosuke immediately spun around and slashed behind him—his blade gleamed coldly in the dim light, reflecting off Danzō's face.
Clang—!
The kunai collided with Kiyosuke's blade. Danzō stumbled back a few steps and said,
"Impossible... There's no way Orochimaru could have someone with your level of power under his command. Who are you really?"
He knew Otogakure was founded by Orochimaru, but he refused to believe someone as strong as Kiyosuke served under him. Who was this guy, and why had he come to assassinate him?
"Take a guess."
Kiyosuke grinned and said,
"Just a vengeful ghost of the Uchiha. You killed quite a few of them to get that arm of yours, didn't you?"
Ten Sharingan eyes meant at least five Uchiha had died by Danzō's hand.
Every Uchiha who awakened the three tomoe Sharingan was a rare treasure to their clan. In recent years, the Uchiha had lost many members on missions—and no doubt Danzō had a hand in that.
"In that case," Danzō raised his arm, "your Sharingan will soon become part of them as well."
As he spoke, the Sharingan embedded in his arm continued to spin, all of them "looking" toward Kiyosuke. Even though they weren't connected to any optic nerves and could only be used for resurrection, it still felt like he was being stared at.
Disgusting.
That arm was one of Orochimaru's twisted creations. After obtaining the Sharingan, Danzō gained a massive amount of spiritual energy. To maintain balance, Orochimaru implanted Hashirama cells into the right arm to enhance the physical energy, thus achieving equilibrium. He then presented the arm to Danzō as a "gift."
"I see. In that case, if you think you have what it takes, come and try."
Kiyosuke laughed loudly.
Danzō wasn't an Uchiha. Even with Hashirama's cells, there was no way he could bring out the full potential of Izanagi.
Most Uchiha could maintain the technique for three minutes if activated directly without setting a time delay, but Danzō could only manage one.
Ten minutes' worth of resurrection—meaning he could die ten times. But every minute, one Sharingan would permanently go blind. One had already gone dark. There were nine left. Including his right eye, that made ten.
Kiyosuke wanted to stall for time.
But Danzō wasn't having it. Izanagi was powerful, but the cost was steep. Every second was precious—there was no way he'd waste it chatting with this guy.
Danzō immediately launched his attack. His shoulder exploded open, and a thick, gnarled tree branch burst forth from it, surging toward Kiyosuke as if to devour him.
Kiyosuke casually grabbed a nearby Root ninja and tossed him toward the oncoming branches.
"Behold! My defensive technique!" he shouted.
The tree branches instantly swallowed the ninja upon contact, enveloping his body and forming a giant tree alongside Danzō.
Both were consumed by the trunk.
Blood spattered outward.
Kiyosuke pressed his back against a wall, refusing to give Danzō any opening for a sneak attack.
The death had been overwritten by Izanagi—a fleeting illusion. Danzō slipped free from the tree and reappeared at its base.
He pulled out two shuriken, gathered Wind Release chakra in his mouth, and exhaled—infusing the weapons. The shuriken spun rapidly, chakra crackling along their edges.
With a flick of his hands, he hurled both.
The wind-chakra-infused blades sliced effortlessly through tree and stone, leaving clean, deep grooves in their wake.
Relying on his sensory abilities, Kiyosuke was able to sense the exact range of the wind chakra. He channeled the same element into his blade and slashed forward in a swift arc.
The wind blade clashed with the spinning shuriken. A sharp clang echoed out as both attacks were deflected.
Kiyosuke seized the moment, leaping forward and swinging his blade down onto Danzō's right shoulder, severing the arm completely.
"AAAHHH!!!"
Pain surged through Danzō's entire body. He couldn't stop himself from screaming.
But this old bastard wasn't one of Hiruzen Sarutobi's peers for nothing. The scream was a feint.
His left hand gripped a kunai and drove it toward Kiyosuke's chest.
Kiyosuke quickly parried. The kunai struck his blade—and snapped it in half. The broken weapon shot straight for his heart.
No!
He couldn't get injured!
This was a shadow clone. Any damage would cause it to disperse. And if he used elementalization now, he'd expose his identity...
His foot slipped, and he rolled to the ground, barely dodging the strike. Twisting his body, he clamped his legs around Danzō's, forcing him to his knees. Kiyosuke arched forward, grabbed Danzō's head—
—And slapped an explosive tag onto his forehead.
He kicked off and retreated just in time.
BOOM!
Danzō's head exploded in a shower of blood and flame.
"What a terrifying fighting style," came a voice from behind.
Danzō, unharmed and whole once again, launched another assault.
"Wood Release: Spear Tree!"
His right arm morphed into a massive tree once more, aiming to consume Kiyosuke completely.
This time, there was no time to dodge. The tree swallowed him whole.
Danzō smirked, thinking his attack had finally succeeded—
Then heard a roar.
Kiyosuke broke through the tree with sheer brute strength.
He cracked his neck and muttered,
"Disgusting technique."
Danzō gritted his teeth through the pain and snapped his own arm.
It had turned into a tree—it was useless now. But Izanagi was still active. There was no need to worry.
"Your strength surpasses even Orochimaru's. There's no way you're his subordinate!" Danzō declared.
No superior would ever keep someone stronger than themselves under command. It would make issuing orders impossible. Just like how Hiruzen couldn't control Kiyosuke—missions depended entirely on whether Kiyosuke felt like accepting them.
Orochimaru couldn't possibly command someone like this.
Not to mention—when this man spoke of Orochimaru, there was neither fear nor reverence in his eyes.
Definitely not one of Orochimaru's men.
And certainly not some ghost of the Uchiha.
If the Uchiha really had someone this powerful, they would've launched a rebellion long ago.
