She tapped his name, and the line barely rang twice before his voice came through, low and warm like he'd been waiting for her all day.
"Alice."
She bit her lip. "Travis, you didn't have to do that."
"Do what?" he asked, all innocent, and she could practically hear the smile hiding in his tone.
"Don't act like you don't know. The flowers, the donuts… the entire crew is talking about it."
"Good," he said simply. "Let them talk."
She leaned against the hallway wall, half flustered, half amused. "No, not good! Travis, people are going to think I'm trying to buy their affection or… or use you to get ahead. I want them to notice my acting skills, not pastries."
There was a pause. Then he laughed, quiet but unmistakable. "Alice, my little wife, you are too serious. It was just flowers. And donuts. Nothing more."
"Nothing more?" she repeated. "Half the camera crew was chanting 'lovebirds' when they left. Do you know how embarrassing that was?"
