Chapter 10 - The Unmasking

The grand hall was filled with whispers, a low tide of suspicion swirling beneath jeweled chandeliers. Nobles leaned closer to one another, their silks rustling like restless wings. At the center, Lord Velyr stood calm, draped in obsidian robes, his smile sharp enough to cut glass.

"False accusations are a dangerous game, Your Majesty," he said, voice smooth as venom.

But Myreiya did not flinch.

She rose from her throne, her hand tightening around a folded parchment—Mirror's stolen discovery. A single document, sealed in the ancient wax of the forbidden cult. The air itself seemed to shiver as she held it high.

"Dangerous," she said softly, her eyes never leaving his, "is a man who wears loyalty as a mask."

Gasps rippled through the court as guards brought forward another object: a shattered relic, half-burned yet still pulsing with residual magic—the kind no loyal servant should possess. The seal upon it bore the unmistakable sigil of the Abyssal Oath.

Velyr's smile faltered for the first time.

"This proves nothing."

But the chamber doors slammed open—Mirror stepped inside, battered, a fresh cut along his cheek. His voice carried across the marble floor.

"Then perhaps your own words will."

He unfurled a crystal shard, glowing with captured echoes—Velyr's voice, cold and clear:

"Eliminate her. Before she finds out."

The nobles recoiled, the court erupted, and Velyr's composure cracked like glass under a hammer.

For the first time, the serpent was cornered.
