Chapter 396 - A New Alchemy Approach

After Hikaru finished talking with Battler, he didn't hurry to leave the Grand Spellbook Tower.

On one hand, Alkahest and the Golden Idol were still borrowing books in the tower, and on the other, Hikaru also wanted to see if he could find some alchemy books here that might help him.

After searching for a while, he actually found a few magicians in the Grand Spellbook Tower who practiced alchemy.

For example: the introverted shut-in magician, the alchemy magician, and the renowned,party-pooper bookworm magician!

With the help of the three beautiful alchemist girls, Hikaru located the alchemy books in the tower.

He roughly picked a few and found an empty seat in the tower to read.

Most of the alchemy knowledge could be found in the academy's alchemy textbooks, and the alchemy techniques known only among elves were things Hikaru had already learned from Alkahest.

As for more advanced alchemy, while the tower might have it, it wouldn't be placed out in the open like this. Even the most advanced content in ordinary alchemy books was something Hikaru had already mastered.

Still… knowledge is endless.

Even though he and Alkahest together could be considered alchemy experts in the human and elven fields, respectively, that didn't mean the two of them knew everything.

In reality, even Professor Banner couldn't possibly be omniscient in alchemy.

At the very least, with the help of the three magicians, Hikaru did learn some unusual forms of alchemy.

Because the Grand Spellbook Tower's philosophy and goals revolved around "mastering magic" or "creating spellbooks," some of its alchemy books contained local magicians' ideas on crafting Magic Cards through alchemy.

Although Professor Banner's Emerald Book also covered related content, namely, the creation of the Philosopher's Stone, there were still plenty of particularly interesting ideas in them.

Hikaru spent two days reading here, feeling greatly inspired, and planned to apply the insights to purifying Armityle the Chaos Phantasm.

However, after two days, Hikaru realized he couldn't just keep reading like this, so he contacted Battler to ask if it was possible to borrow the books, or better yet, buy them with cards.

Just like exchanging Magic Cards for the Magical Scientist's Fusion Monsters, trading with cards was already a recognized way to collect Duel Cards.

Battler was very familiar with this process.

It had once been responsible for such matters, so it knew exactly how to trade books for cards.

Moreover, the Grand Spellbook Tower was very keen on collecting all sorts of Magic Cards, so it already had such rules in place.

Since that was the case, Hikaru didn't waste time,he used some of his extra Fusion Magic Cards to exchange with the tower.

In addition to books on alchemy that he hadn't yet read, was halfway through, or wanted to reread, Hikaru also bought a few related to Fusion, and even a few ordinary spellbooks.

Nothing more than trying to gain inspiration through association.

Aside from that, Alkahest was only interested in alchemy, so it didn't ask for anything extra, and Hikaru helped the Golden Idol exchange for two books about sacrificial rituals.

These books were impossible to obtain in the human world, so naturally, Hikaru seized the chance to trade for more.

Additionally, Hikaru received several potions as gifts from the alchemy magician.

They were different from both Hikaru and Alkahest,Hikaru specialized in Fusion, Alkahest in metallurgy, while the three girls specialized in potion-making.

This was a blind spot for both Hikaru and Alkahest.

A long time ago, during his otherworldly adventure with Professor Crowler, back when he first met Alkahest,Hikaru had asked if it could make a potion to wake the injured Professor Crowler, only to find it couldn't at all.

Although Hikaru's own skills were quite good by now, his time and energy were limited, so he hadn't delved deeply into other branches of alchemy. He only had some basic knowledge and had barely tried it; if purifying Armityle wasn't so difficult, he wouldn't even have considered learning to make support tools.

The three magicians were different, they enjoyed and specialized in potion-making. The alchemy magician was even an alchemy instructor at the Grand Spellbook Tower, with outstanding skills. After exchanging ideas with Hikaru and realizing how specialized his Fusion expertise was, she became immediately interested.

That was also why Hikaru became friends with the three so quickly and why he took their advice to trade for books.

They gave Hikaru some potions, mostly for healing, but also special ones like Fire Resistance, Lightning Resistance, Underwater Breathing, Sweet Dreams, and even Nightmare potions, they were quite intriguing.

And indeed,

When Hikaru heard about the Lightning Resistance potion, he became very interested.

He hadn't forgotten about Zane Truesdale.

In the original story, Kaiser's heart condition was mainly caused by an almost fatal electric shock in the underground duel arena, but that wasn't the real "killer."

The true culprit was the Cyberdark series.

The reason the Cyber Style sealed away the Cyberdark series wasn't solely because its philosophy differed completely from Cyber Style.

More importantly, the Cyberdark series released electricity during use, harming the user's body!

Even if Zane in this world had never dueled underground, constant use of the Cyberdark series would still cause injury.

If you die in a duel, there might be ways to bring you back, but die from heart disease, there's no coming back.

With these potions, not only could they help Zane, plus, in the future, when going to volcanoes, deep seas, and such other dimensions, they could also help maintain condition.

"Bye-bye" "Come again next time" "We must discuss alchemy again!"

The three magicians waved goodbye to Hikaru, seemingly reluctant to part.

After all, Hikaru was the disciple of the "Absolute Fusionist," and after the incident with the Water Summon, the academy's teachers knew full well that Hikaru's understanding of Fusion far surpassed that of most spirits in the Grand Spellbook Tower.

For them, he was a perfect discussion partner, yet he was a human who couldn't stay here long.

Hikaru bid them farewell too, saying he would come again if he had the chance.

"What a shame. Not only is she an Xyz Monster, she's also a teacher here. Otherwise, I feel like you could've just taken them away," Tierra remarked casually as she accompanied Hikaru back to the dimensional gate.

With that magician, plus Alkahest and the Golden Idol, five elite academic spirits assisting Hikaru's crafting, Tierra felt they could even produce 'Lilith' in advance.

Unfortunately, it wasn't possible.

"You make it sound like I'm some kind of spirit trafficker." Hugging a stack of books, Hikaru shook his head, dismissing Tierra's words.

Back in the workshop, he greeted his friends there, put the books on the shelf, and stretched a little.

Two days of reading at the tower had helped him relax a bit.

Next up,the Frightfur Sanctuary!

This time, Alkahest and the Golden Idol didn't come along.

Hikaru reconfigured the dimensional gate's coordinates, inserted the Dimensional Coordinate Card he had obtained from the Society of Light, and quietly waited for the teleportation.

A moment later, Hikaru spun several times in the air before landing, and the scenery around him had completely changed.

Gone was the workshop's clean and simple look, replaced by a riot of colors and a fairy-tale style.

He stepped forward and glanced at the ground. There were many broken balloon skins scattered about. He raised an eyebrow slightly.

He didn't think much of it at first.

Though somewhat run-down, it still made sense.

After all, this was the Frightfur, beneath the cute exterior lay a pack of cunning demons. The shiny façade hiding widespread ruin fit perfectly with their cute-on-the-outside, dark-and-terrifying-inside nature.

Then Tierra suddenly spoke, "Wait, Hikaru, there are human traces here."

'Huh?'

Tierra probed a bit more, then suddenly smiled, making a new guess: "Oh,it seems it's your old enemy."

'Oh!'

'The Fusion Army?'
