"He is locking target diagnostic sensors onto the rear elevator shafts where the last group of engineers is ascending!" Diana screamed through the tactical link from the Crowncast Spire.
"Those workers are unarmed civilians who have suffered ten years of brutal torture!" Kendra shouted, raising her radiant tower shield as golden light flared around her.
"The elevator cables are made of reinforced titanium alloy, but direct antimatter plasma strikes will vaporize them in milliseconds," Chief Engineer Robert shouted from the doorway of the ascending car.
"Get inside the car and hit the emergency ascent button, Robert!" Kendra commanded, placing herself directly between the elevator shaft and the missile launcher.
